Sixty-plus Pokemon carry the official “Legendary” designation, from Articuno in the original Kanto trio to Terapagos in the current era. Every legendary covered in this guide has a Japanese card printing, and it’s very often the sharper, higher-value version to own.
This guide gives a full write-up to twelve legendaries, rounds out the comparison table with four more, and tells you the set, card number and rarity mark for all sixteen — linking out to our own PSA 10 listings where one is currently anchored. We ship Japanese sealed product and singles out of Tokyo, so every price below is a price you can actually check right now — not a third-party market estimate.
We track sixteen legendary card printings here, from the Terapagos ex SAR at ¥5,840 (~$37) (更新:目前售罄 — 可透過 Quick Order 申請補貨) up to the Latias & Latios GX special art at ¥1,321,516 (~$8,313). Mythical Pokemon — Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Arceus and the rest — are a separate official category and are not covered as legendaries here.
Prices are our own currently listed prices as of September 2026, converted at ¥159/USD.
What Counts as a Legendary Pokemon Card
“Legendary Pokemon” is an official Pokemon company category, not a fan label. It runs from Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres in Generation I through to Wo-Chien, Koraidon, Miraidon, Ogerpon and Terapagos in Generation IX, and covers dozens of species across all nine generations — the birds, the beasts, the tower duo, the weather trio, the creation trio, the swords of justice, the tao trio, and every box-legend and Paradox legendary since.
Mythical Pokemon are a separate, related category — usually event-exclusive Pokemon such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Darkrai, Arceus, Victini, Meloetta, Genesect, Marshadow, Zeraora, Diancie, Volcanion and Shaymin. Older Western media sometimes lumped mythicals in with legendaries, but the two lists have been kept officially separate since Generation V, and we’ve kept them separate here too. If you’re after the mythical side of the roster, our mythical Pokemon card guide covers Celebi and Jirachi in detail.
Regional variants of legendaries, such as Galarian Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, are still legendaries — they’re the same official Pokemon in a different form, not a new species.

How to Buy Japanese Legendary Pokemon Cards from Tokyo
If you’d rather open your own legendary hits than chase a specific single, sealed product is the other route in. The S3A Legendary Heartbeat booster box was built around exactly this theme.
For graded singles, every price in the table above links directly to the listing. If you’re after a legendary print that isn’t currently anchored on our site — Lugia V being the example in this guide — our Quick Order page is the fastest way to put in a request, and it’s also the quickest route for mixing several legendaries into one order.
常見問題
What is the difference between a Legendary and a Mythical Pokemon card?
Legendary Pokemon are an official category running from Articuno through to Terapagos across nine generations. Mythical Pokemon — Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Darkrai, Arceus and others — are a separate, usually event-exclusive category. Older Western media sometimes grouped them together, but they’ve been listed separately since Generation V. See our mythical Pokemon card guide for that side of the roster.
Which card in this guide has the highest listed price?
The Latias & Latios GX special art rare from SM9 Tag Bolt, currently listed at ¥1,321,516 (about $8,313). The Rayquaza VMAX alternate art from S7R Blue Sky Stream is a close second at ¥1,216,624 (about $7,652).
What is the most affordable legendary card covered here?
The Terapagos ex SAR from SV8a Terastal Festival ex, listed at ¥5,840 (about $37) in PSA 10 — the lowest listed price of the sixteen printings in this guide.
Are regional forms like Galarian Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres still considered legendary?
Yes. A regional variant is the same official Pokemon in a different form, not a separate species, so Galarian Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres keep their legendary status.
Can I currently buy a Japanese Lugia V PSA 10 card from this store?
Not as a live listing at the moment — Lugia V from S12 Paradigm Trigger isn’t currently anchored on our site. It can be sourced through our Quick Order page instead.
