Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie set the pace for an entire generation of Japanese Pokemon cards — and a decade on, their strongest evolutions still show up in current graded-card stock. A Character Rare Braixen from 2022 sits next to a V card from the same year, both tracing back to a starter chosen at the start of Pokemon X & Y.
This guide covers the two Kalos starter lines with the most graded cardboard behind them — Chespin’s and Fennekin’s — plus two graded Kalos-region singles we currently carry that aren’t starters but round out the region’s lineup. Froakie’s own line gets a full write-up of its own, linked below, so we don’t retread it here. We ship graded Japanese singles and sealed product out of Tokyo every week, and the stock and prices below reflect our own catalog as of August 2026.
We’re carrying three graded Kalos-region singles right now. A PSA 10 Braixen CHR (S11a 069/068) is currently listed at ¥9,208 (~$56) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) — the clearest single-card entry point into the Fennekin line. Alongside it, a PSA 10 Floette U 1ED is currently listed at ¥12,360 (~$76) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) and a PSA 10 Florges EX SR 1ED is currently listed at ¥26,780 (~$164).
Prices are our own listed prices as of August 2026, converted at ¥163/USD.
Kalos Starter Cards at a Glance
Five cards trace the Chespin and Fennekin lines through their strongest Japanese prints, plus two more graded Kalos-region singles we carry alongside them:
| 卡牌 | Number | Rarity | Set | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chesnaught V | S12 009/098 | RR | Paradigm Trigger | 2022 |
| Braixen CHR | S11a 069/068 | CHR | Incandescent Arcana | 2022 |
| Delphox V | S11 017/098 | RR | Lost Abyss | 2022 |
| Floette U | CP3 022/032 | U | Pokekyun Collection | 2016 |
| Florges EX SR | XY4 092/088 | SR | Phantom Gate | 2014 |
The Chespin and Fennekin lines both landed their strongest recent prints within about three months of each other in 2022, across three different Sword & Shield–era Japanese sets — Lost Abyss in July, Incandescent Arcana in September, and Paradigm Trigger in October. Floette and Florges aren’t starters — they’re a separate Fairy-type line — but both come out of Kalos-region sets and are graded singles we happen to be carrying right now, so we’ve folded them in below.
One pattern worth noting: both final evolutions, Chesnaught and Delphox, got their V cards, while Braixen — a mid-stage evolution rather than a final form — was pulled out for the rarer Character Rare slot instead. That’s not unusual for the format; CHR cards are sometimes built around Trainer-character tie-ins rather than strictly around a Pokemon’s evolutionary stage, which is what happened with Braixen’s Serena-linked attack below.
Chespin’s Line: Chesnaught V
![Chesnaught V [S12 009/098] RR, Paradigm Trigger](https://samuraiswordtokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/img_kalos_s12_9_r_jp_e2608d236b3a-1.webp)
Chespin’s final evolution got its V card in Paradigm Trigger (S12), released October 21, 2022 — the Japanese-market set that corresponds to the English-language Silver Tempest. Chesnaught V is a Basic Grass-type with 230 HP and an ability translated as Needle Line: whenever it takes damage from an opposing attack, it places three damage counters on the attacker. Its attack, Touchdown (GGC), does 130 damage and heals 30 from Chesnaught V itself.
The card is illustrated by N-DESIGN Inc. and carries a retreat cost of 4. A higher-rarity SR version of the same card exists in the same set at S12 #99, for collectors chasing the alt-art treatment beyond the standard Full Art.
We don’t currently carry a graded Chesnaught V single, so the fastest way to track one down is our Quick Order page, where we can source specific Paradigm Trigger cards on request.
Fennekin’s Line: Braixen CHR and Delphox V
Fennekin’s evolutions cover two separate 2022 sets, and this is where our in-stock graded card actually lives.
Braixen’s Character Rare print comes from Incandescent Arcana (S11a), released September 2, 2022 — the Japanese set that lines up with the English-language Silver Tempest. It’s a Stage 1 Fire-type at 90 HP, evolving from Fennekin, with two attacks: a roughly 30-damage Flamethrower-style move, and a second attack whose damage scales with the number of Serena cards in your discard pile — a nod to the Trainer character most associated with this Pokemon in the games. The card is illustrated by Naoki Saito, and a standard, non-Character-Rare Braixen sits in the same set at S11a #017. Fennekin itself is also part of Incandescent Arcana as a Basic-stage print, though we haven’t independently confirmed its exact card number for this guide.
This Braixen CHR sometimes gets mislabeled online under a different set code. It’s confirmed as S11a 069/068 (Incandescent Arcana) — a set with 068 cards in its base print run, which matches the card’s own numbering. For the rest of the set’s headline pulls, see our Incandescent Arcana best cards guide.
Delphox, Fennekin’s final evolution, got its own V card in Lost Abyss (S11), released July 15, 2022 — the same three-month stretch of the calendar as Braixen’s CHR. Delphox V is a Basic Fire-type V with 210 HP. Its first attack, for a single Energy, inflicts both Burn and Confusion; its second, Magical Fire (RRC), does 120 damage and 120 more to a benched Pokemon, at the cost of sending two Energy to the Lost Zone. The card is illustrated by 5ban Graphics, and an SR version of the same card exists at S11 #101.
Of the two, the Braixen CHR is the one we currently have graded and in stock — the PSA 10 copy is currently listed at ¥9,208 (~$56) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).
Froakie’s Line: Where to Look Instead
We’re not covering Froakie, Frogadier, or Greninja here — that line gets its own dedicated write-up, with its own set history and pricing. If you’re after the third Kalos starter, see our Greninja cards guide for the full breakdown. This guide stays focused on the Chespin and Fennekin lines and the wider Kalos-region singles we’re carrying alongside them.
Also In Stock: Two More Graded Kalos Singles
Neither of the following two cards is a starter Pokemon — both are part of the Flabébé/Floette/Florges Fairy-type line — but they’re graded singles we’re currently carrying from Kalos-era sets, and worth knowing about if you’re building out the region.
Floette U comes from Pokekyun Collection (CP3), a Valentine’s-season concept pack released January 29, 2016 that corresponds to the English-language Generations set. It’s a Stage 1 Fairy-type at 70 HP, evolving from Flabébé, weak to Steel and resistant to Dark, illustrated by Eske Yoshinob. Our PSA 10 1ED copy is currently listed at ¥12,360 (~$76) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order).
Florges EX in its Secret Rare form comes from Phantom Gate (XY4), released September 13, 2014 and corresponding to the English-language Phantom Forces. It’s a Basic Fairy-type at 160 HP, weak to Steel, resistant to Dark, with a retreat cost of 2 and an attack whose damage scales in increments of 20. The card is illustrated by Ryo Ueda. Our PSA 10 1ED copy is currently listed at ¥26,780 (~$164) — the highest-priced graded single in this guide. For more from the same set, see our Phantom Gate best cards guide.
Which Kalos Card Fits Your Budget
Working from the three cards we currently have graded and in stock:
- ¥9,208 (~$56) — PSA 10 Braixen CHR (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), the Fennekin-line entry point, and the only starter-evolution single we currently carry graded.
- ¥12,360 (~$76) — PSA 10 Floette U 1ED (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order), a 2016 Pokekyun Collection Fairy-type single, not a starter but from the same region.
- ¥26,780 (~$164) — PSA 10 Florges EX SR 1ED, the oldest and highest-priced of the three, from 2014’s Phantom Gate.
The spread between the cheapest and priciest of the three is about ¥17,572 (~$108), and it tracks age and rarity tier as much as anything else: the Florges EX SR is a Secret Rare from a set that’s now twelve years old, while the Braixen CHR is a Character Rare from a set that’s four years old. If you specifically want a Chesnaught V or a Delphox V single, neither is currently in our graded stock — use the Quick Order page to check current availability or request sourcing.

常見問題
What are the Kalos starter Pokemon in the trading card game?
The three Kalos starters are Chespin (evolving into Quilladin and Chesnaught), Fennekin (evolving into Braixen and Delphox), and Froakie (evolving into Frogadier and Greninja). This guide covers the Chespin and Fennekin lines; Froakie’s line has its own dedicated guide.
Is the Braixen CHR from Incandescent Arcana or SM11b?
It’s from S11a, Incandescent Arcana, released September 2, 2022 — not SM11b. The card’s own numbering, 069/068, matches Incandescent Arcana’s set size and doesn’t fit SM11b’s much smaller print run.
Do you have Froakie or Greninja cards in stock?
Froakie’s evolution line is covered separately in our Greninja cards guide, which has its own pricing and stock details for that line.
Are Floette and Florges Kalos starter Pokemon?
No. Floette and Florges evolve from Flabébé, a separate Fairy-type line first introduced in the Kalos region. They aren’t starters, but we’ve included the graded singles we currently carry from Kalos-era sets alongside the starter cards in this guide.
Where can I buy graded Kalos starter and Kalos-region cards from Japan?
We ship graded singles and sealed Japanese product worldwide from Tokyo with tracked delivery. Currently in stock: a PSA 10 Braixen CHR, a PSA 10 Floette U 1ED, and a PSA 10 Florges EX SR 1ED, each listed on its own product page. Use our Quick Order page to source other Kalos-era cards or build a mixed order.
