Palkia S8a 009/028: Quick Checklist

• Water-type Basic Pokémon, 130 HP, illustrated by 5ban Graphics.
• One Ability, Absolute Space, and one attack, Over Smash.
• Numbered 009/028, immediately after Dialga at 008/028.
• 009/028 is Palkia’s only print in the 25th Anniversary line.
• No PSA 10 single of it on our site; the sealed S8a box is currently listed at ¥67,200 (~$436) (September 17, 2026).

2. Ability and Attack

Palkia carries one Ability, listed under 特性:

• Absolute Space (ぜったいくうかん) — JP, verbatim: “このポケモンがバトル場にいるかぎり、相手は手札からスタジアムを出せない。” Our rendering: As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, your opponent can’t play Stadium cards from their hand.

And one attack:

• [{W}{C}{C}] Over Smash — 80+ (オーバースマッシュ) — JP, verbatim: “次の自分の番、このポケモンの「オーバースマッシュ」のダメージは「+80」される。” Our rendering: During your next turn, this Pokémon’s Over Smash does 80 more damage.

Over Smash costs one Water Energy plus two Colorless, deals 80 damage on the turn it’s used, and sets up a bigger hit the turn after if Palkia stays in play. Basic Water Energy is one of the eight Energy prints the set carries, and the database shows no card number on any of them.

4. Elsewhere in the 25th Anniversary Line

The Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition (S8a-P) reproduces 25 cards spanning 1996 to 2017; Palkia isn’t one of them. The 25th Anniversary Golden Box’s S8a-G subset is 16 database entries — 001/015 through 015/015 plus an unnumbered Basic Lightning Energy — covering five Pikachu-line Pokémon, six Items, four Supporters and that one Energy card, so Palkia doesn’t appear there either. The official product page gives that box an official MSRP of ¥17,600 (tax included), separate from the plain S8a booster box this guide is about. So 009/028 is Palkia’s only 25th Anniversary print.

The same official page lists one more item in the 25th line-up: the 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION Special Set at ¥1,188 (tax included), holding four expansion packs, one Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition and one Pokémon coin, planned for convenience stores nationwide. The promo pack was handed out with purchases of four booster packs during the launch campaign; the Special Set also contained one. The official page adds that the buy-four campaign was not run at convenience stores, and that cards from the promo pack cannot be used in official tournaments.
