25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (S8a) released on October 22, 2021 as a 28-kind expansion pack, five holo cards dealt at random into every ¥297 pack. Its middle stretch of numbering, 004/028 through 019/028, carries nothing but Pokémon cards, and Zekrom occupies 011/028 in that run — sandwiched between Reshiram at 010/028 and Xerneas at 012/028.
Before getting to Zekrom’s own card text, it’s worth placing it in that wider set context, because the card’s own attack text leans on its neighbour. This guide covers where Zekrom sits, what the card does, its other 25th Anniversary appearances, and what our own S8a box listing looks like now.
Zekrom S8a 011/028 is a Lightning-type Basic Pokémon, 130 HP, illustrated by Aya Kusube — the same illustrator credited on Reshiram at 010/028. Its second attack, White Thunder, does more damage if Reshiram is on the Bench. No PSA 10 single of this print is currently listed on our site. 25th Anniversary Collection: Where Zekrom Fits
The official card database carries detail pages for exactly 25 numbered S8a cards, 001/028 through 025/028, plus eight basic Energy cards that print no number of their own. Numbers 004/028 through 019/028 run: Ho-Oh, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, Palkia, Reshiram, Zekrom, Xerneas, Yveltal, then the Cosmog evolution family and the Galar Legendaries Zacian V and Zamazenta V. Zekrom sits squarely in the Unova pair of that run, immediately after Reshiram. Numbers 026/028 through 028/028 are not separate database entries. The set does have one secret rare with a database page, the 029/028 Professor’s Research SR, credited to Ken Sugimori and printing the same Supporter text as the regular 003/028 card.
Read by type rather than by number, Zekrom lands in the set’s busiest group. Lightning covers Pikachu at 001/028 (60 HP, Mitsuhiro Arita), Zekrom at 011/028, Pikachu V at 020/028 (190 HP, HYOGONOSUKE), Surfing Pikachu V and Surfing Pikachu VMAX at 021/028 and 022/028, Flying Pikachu V and Flying Pikachu VMAX at 023/028 and 024/028 — all four credited to aky CG Works — and the Pikachu V-UNION at 025/028, plus the set’s unnumbered Basic Lightning Energy print. Zekrom is the one card in that group that isn’t a Pikachu.
The official product page describes the set, verbatim, as: 「カードはすべてキラカード。全28種類のカードから、ランダムで5枚のカードを封入。」 — every card is a holo card, five dealt at random from the 28 kinds in the set. The official page states no packs-per-box figure.
Zekrom S8a 011/028: Card Details

Field Crush deals 30 damage and discards the opposing Stadium card, for two Colorless Energy. The set’s Basic Lightning Energy is one of eight Energy prints in S8a whose database pages show no card number at all, and White Thunder’s [{L}{L}{C}] cost takes two of it.
Zekrom and Reshiram: The Set’s Paired Dragons
White Thunder’s text is where the set numbering pays off: it names Reshiram directly, and Reshiram at 010/028 returns the favour in its own Black Flame attack, which does more damage with Zekrom on the Bench. Both cards share the same illustrator credit, Aya Kusube, and both were printed with no evolution-panel entry on their database pages — neither has a BREAK or GX partner within S8a. Running both Basic Pokémon in the same deck is what triggers each bonus condition.
Zekrom in the Wider 25th Anniversary Line
Zekrom’s species also appears as S8a-P 021/025 in the Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition, a Super Rare the official 25th anniversary site describes, verbatim, as 「豪華に光り輝くSR（スーパーレア）！カードいっぱいに描かれたゼクロムがかっこいい！」 — a lavishly shining SR with Zekrom drawn across the whole card. S8a-P was never entered into the official card database, so no HP, attacks or illustrator can be confirmed for that promo print from an official source. The Golden Box’s S8a-G subset is 16 database entries — 001/015 through 015/015 plus an unnumbered Basic Lightning Energy — five Pikachu-line Pokémon, six Items, four Supporters and that one Energy card, and it contains no Zekrom. The promo pack itself was handed out with purchases of four booster packs during the launch campaign, and the 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION Special Set at ¥1,188 tax included also contained one.
