Suicune GX in Japanese means スイクンGX from SM8, the 擴充包 our listings call “Super-Burst Impact”: two prints, 028/095 and 098/095, both with 180 HP and both credited to 5ban Graphics in the official Pokémon Card Game database on pokemon-card.com (as printed on October 29, 2026). The text on the two cards is identical in the database; what separates them is the number and the price we put on each.
This guide places the pair next to each other, renders the printed Japanese card text into English, shows the two companion beasts from the same set, and lists what we currently offer for each print. We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
- The official database lists two スイクンGX rows, both SM8 and both 5ban Graphics: 028/095 and 098/095. The second number sits above the set’s printed 95, so it is a secret-numbered print.
- We offer the 028/095 as a PSA 10 back order at ¥10,499 (~$68) and the 098/095 at ¥33,786 (~$219), both sourced to order.
- Our sealed SM8 booster box is a separate product. It carries no promise of either card, and this article gives no pull rates.
What Suicune GX 028/095 Is
The database page for スイクンGX 028/095 prints the values below. Rarity letters are not shown anywhere in the database, so the rarity letters used in this guide are quoted from our own listing names and labelled as such.
| Field | Official database value |
|---|---|
| Name as printed | スイクンGX |
| Number and set | 028/095, set code SM8 |
| Illustrator | 5ban Graphics |
| Stage | Basic (たね) |
| HP | 180 |
| Special rule | When a Pokémon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards (rendering) |
| Weakness, Resistance, Retreat | Weakness ×2 (type shown as an icon), Resistance none; retreat cost shown as icons, not stated here |
| Database card ID | 35320 |

Our own earlier guide, Entei, Raikou & Suicune: Card Value Guide, dates SM8 to Friday, September 7, 2018 and names this card “Suicune GX RR 028/095”. The “RR” there is the letter our listing name uses (as our listing names it); the official database does not print it.

028/095 and 098/095 Side by Side
SM8 has a printed main-set count of 95. A card numbered 098/095 therefore sits three numbers past the count, which marks a secret or special numbering. The database does not print the rarity or the frame type, so the table below compares only what is on the record, plus the letters in our listing names.
| Detail | Suicune GX 028/095 | Suicune GX 098/095 |
|---|---|---|
| 系列代碼 | SM8 | SM8 |
| Illustrator (database) | 5ban Graphics | 5ban Graphics |
| HP (database) | 180 | 180 |
| Ability, attack, GX attack text | As rendered below | The same wording as the 028/095 |
| Number position | Inside the printed 95 | Above the printed 95 |
| Letter in our listing name | RR | SR |
| Database card ID | 35320 | 35746 |
| Our PSA 10 offer | Back order, ¥10,499 (~$68) | Back order, ¥33,786 (~$219) |
The two cards share a name, an HP, an illustrator credit and a rules text. Because the credit is the same, you cannot tell them apart by the name of the artist; the number printed at the bottom of the card is the check. The database itself does not describe the frame, so we describe the print by its number.

On our side, the listing name for the higher number is “PSA10 Suicune GX SR [SM8 098/095]”, and the one for the lower number is “PSA10 Suicune GX RR [SM8 028/095]”. Both name the set as 擴充包 “Super-Burst Impact”. Whether those letters match the symbols on the physical cards is something to confirm against the card or the slab label, not against this article.
The Card Text, Rendered from the Japanese
The database record for 028/095 prints one Ability, one attack and one GX attack. The English wording below is our rendering of the Japanese; it is not the text of an official English card, and the English attack names are rendered or transliterated (rendering). The 098/095 record carries the same wording.
| Printed name | Type | Effect, rendered |
|---|---|---|
| げんえいのかぜ | Ability | If this Pokémon is on the Bench, you may use this once during your turn: put this Pokémon and all cards attached to it back into your deck and shuffle (Illusory Wind, rendering). |
| キュアストリーム | Attack, 120 | During your opponent’s next turn, damage from attacks used by the Pokémon that received this attack is reduced by 30 (Cure Stream, rendering). |
| ブライニクルGX | GX attack, 150 | Switch this Pokémon with a Benched Pokémon. You can use only one GX attack in a game (Brynicle GX, transliteration). |
Three details of the text are worth reading closely, because they are easy to skim past. First, the Ability works from the Bench, not from the Active Spot; it is a way to take the card out of play and back into the deck. Second, the damage reduction on キュアストリーム applies to the Pokémon that took the hit, during the opponent’s next turn, and it is a reduction of 30 on that Pokémon’s attacks, not a reduction of damage done to Suicune. Third, the GX attack both deals damage and moves Suicune out of the Active Spot, and the usual one-GX-attack-per-game rule is printed on the card.
This guide does not reproduce the energy cost icons. If you want to compare the costs, open the database page for the card ID listed in the table above and read the cost icons next to each attack. We also do not draw conclusions about how the card plays in tournament formats; this is a collector’s guide to the print, not a deck guide.
The Other Two Legendary Beasts in SM8
SM8 is not only a Suicune set. The official database also holds a regular Entei and a regular Raikou in the same set, so a collector chasing all three beasts from one product has a natural target list. Both are plain Basic cards without the GX rule, and both come from different illustrators than the Suicune pair.
| 卡牌 | Number | Illustrator | HP |
|---|---|---|---|
| エンテイ (Entei) | SM8 022/095 | kawayoo | 130 |
| ライコウ (Raikou) | SM8 037/095 | Kagemaru Himeno | 120 |
| スイクンGX (Suicune GX) | SM8 028/095 | 5ban Graphics | 180 |
| スイクンGX (Suicune GX) | SM8 098/095 | 5ban Graphics | 180 |
The Entei and Raikou cards are regular, in-count prints; the Suicune GX is the one of the three with a second, secret-numbered row. For the wider Suicune family, see Suicune Japanese Pokémon Cards Guide, and for the overview of all three beasts see the legendary beasts value guide.
Our Listings: PSA 10 Back Orders and the Booster Box
We list the two Suicune GX prints as PSA 10 back orders. The 028/095 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥10,499 (~$68) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. The 098/095 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥33,786 (~$219), with the same sourcing terms.
| Listing (as named by us) | Print it is | Our price |
|---|---|---|
| PSA10 Suicune GX RR [SM8 028/095] | SM8 028/095 | PSA 10 back order at ¥10,499 (~$68) |
| PSA10 Suicune GX SR [SM8 098/095] | SM8 098/095 | PSA 10 back order at ¥33,786 (~$219) |
Set side by side, the 098/095 back order is priced at roughly 3.2 times the 028/095 back order. That is a statement about our listings on October 29, 2026 and nothing more; it is not a statement about any market, and it says nothing about what either price will be later.

If you would rather open the set itself, the sealed booster box is a different kind of purchase. A booster box is a sealed product, and which cards come out of it is not something this article can or will predict.

Two Spellings of the Set Name
Our catalogue spells the set name in two ways. The sealed booster box is titled “SM8-Super Explosive Impact Japanese Pokemon Booster Box”, while the singles are listed under 擴充包 “Super-Burst Impact”. They are the same SM8 set: the set code on the box title and on every single is SM8, and the card numbers on the singles run /095. If you search our site for one spelling and do not find a product, try the other, or search for the code SM8.
This article uses “Super-Burst Impact” for the cards and quotes the box title exactly as it is on the product page.
What a PSA 10 Back Order Means for These Cards
For a back order, the card is not sitting in a case waiting on a shelf: the listing is a request we source to order, and the product page shows the current terms for that listing. That is why both Suicune GX listings above say “back order” and not “in stock”.
When a graded card arrives, the slab label carries the card name, set and number, so the number over 095 is the first thing to match against the label. If the number on the label is 028, you are looking at the in-count print; if it is 098, you are looking at the secret-numbered print. We do not quote label wording here, because a label’s exact text is a property of the individual slab.

Other SM8 Cards We List
The same set has other cards in our catalogue. These are different cards from different Pokémon, listed here so the names are not confused with the Suicune prints.
| Listing (as named by us) | Our price |
|---|---|
| PSA10 Professor Elm’s Lecture SR [SM8 102/095] | Currently listed at ¥49,220 (~$320) |
| PSA10 Whitney SR [SM8 101/095] | PSA 10 back order at ¥30,169 (~$196) |
| PSA10 Lugia GX RR [SM8 072/095] | PSA 10 back order at ¥26,459 (~$172) |
| PSA10 Lugia GX SR [SM8 100/095] | PSA 10 back order at ¥73,814 (~$479) |
| PSA10 Lugia GX HR [SM8 108/095] | PSA 10 back order at ¥130,000 (~$844) |
| PSA10 Lusamine PR [SM8 092/095] | PSA 10 back order at ¥27,720 (~$180) |
Each back-order row is sourced to order and the product page shows the current terms. The Professor Elm’s Lecture listing is a visible PSA 10 product. The letters in these names (RR, SR, HR, PR) are as our listing names them, in the same way as the RR and SR letters on the two Suicune GX listings.
How to Tell Which Suicune GX You Hold
A Suicune GX from SM8 is placed by the number printed near the bottom of the card. The table below is the whole check.
| What the card shows | Print it points to |
|---|---|
| Number 028/095 | The in-count Suicune GX, database ID 35320 |
| Number 098/095 | The secret-numbered Suicune GX, database ID 35746 |
| Name スイクン without the GX, from a different set | A different card; see the Suicune Japanese cards guide |
| Any other number over /095 | Outside the two prints verified here; compare the name and the number on the database |

Suicune and the 2027 Trademark Report
On October 29, 2026 premium.gamepedia.jp and PokeGuardian reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「オーロラの波紋」 (Aurora Ripples is a working English translation; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible Suicune set; nothing is announced. Our Aurora Ripples trademark guide explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the round-up of the four trademarks covers the others.
