Erika’s Tangela AR Style 743/742 (エリカのモンジャラ) is the card numbered 743/742 in the Japanese product ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA スタートデッキ100 バトルコレクション (MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection). The official database prints it as a Basic Pokémon with 80 HP and the illustrator credit buchi, and our store lists a graded PSA 10 copy. This guide covers what the database prints, what the “AR Style” label does and does not mean, and how the card sits among its neighbours.
We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo. Store figures below are our listed prices, converted at ¥154/USD (approximate); the product and card facts come from the official pokemon-card.com pages named in each section.
- Official database values for エリカのモンジャラ 743/742 (set MC): Basic (たね), HP 80, illustrator buchi, an Ability and an attack that involves a coin flip.
- Our PSA 10 listing, named “PSA10 Erika’s Tangela AR Style [MC 743/742]”, is currently listed at ¥16,566 (~$108).
- “AR Style” is a market label from card shops and wiki sites; the official database prints no rarity letters, so the label is used here only as our listing names it.
- 743 is the first number above the 742 base cards, so it opens the high-number run of 743 to 766.
What the Official Database Prints for 743/742
The Pokémon Card Game database on pokemon-card.com has a detail page for エリカのモンジャラ numbered 743/742 in the set MC. These are the values it prints.
| Field | Official database value |
|---|---|
| Name as printed | エリカのモンジャラ |
| Number and set | 743/742, set code MC (MEGA スタートデッキ100 バトルコレクション) |
| HP | 80 |
| Stage | たね (Basic) |
| Ability | ひゃっかりょうらん |
| Attack | しめつける, 50 damage |
| Illustrator | buchi |
| Rarity field | Not displayed on the database page |

The number 743 is higher than the 742 printed as the set denominator, so the card sits outside the 001 to 742 base numbering. The database shows the regulation mark only as a set-logo image, so we do not assert a mark letter for this card. What is official is that the J mark debuted in this product, as the November 7, 2025 notice states.
The Card Text, Rendered
The database page prints one Ability and one attack. Our rendering of the Japanese is below; English wording is a rendering, not an official localisation.
| Name (as printed) | Type | Effect, rendered |
|---|---|---|
| ひゃっかりょうらん | Ability | Searches the deck for Erika’s Pokémon (エリカのポケモン) (rendering). The full wording, including how many cards and where they go, is on the database page. |
| しめつける | Attack | 50 damage, with a coin flip that can leave the opponent’s Pokémon Paralyzed (マヒ) (rendering). |
We do not generalise this card’s text to other cards of the run. The one structural point is that the Ability names a group, “Erika’s Pokémon” (エリカのポケモン), rather than a single card.
The deck-building rules that surround a Basic Pokémon like this are official and short. A deck is 60 cards, and the official how-to-play page says a deck must include at least one Basic Pokémon: 「たねポケモンは、デッキに1枚以上入れないといけないよ。」 A deck may hold up to four cards with the same name, with basic Energy exempt. For beginners the same page suggests starting with 15 Energy and about 30 Trainers, which leaves about 15 Pokémon.
What “AR Style” Means and Does Not Mean
Our listing reads “PSA10 Erika’s Tangela AR Style [MC 743/742]”. The words “AR Style” follow the market labels used by cardrush-pokemon.jp and premium.gamepedia.jp for the high-number cards of this product, where the run is described as AR Style, SR Style, SAR Style and MUR Style cards. The official database page for the 743/742 shows none of them.
The accurate statement is therefore two-part. The card is 743/742 and credits buchi; and, as our listing names it, the print is an “AR Style” card. We do not state a rarity letter on our own authority, and we do not claim the database confirms the label. If a seller quotes a rarity letter for this card, the database will not back it up and the listing name is the only place it comes from.
The Product: MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection
The card belongs to a starter-deck product, not an expansion pack. The official product page and notices give these facts.
| 상품 | Fact | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA スタートデッキ100 バトルコレクション | pokemon-card.com product page |
| Release | Friday, December 19, 2025 | official product page |
| Official price | ¥891 (tax included) | official product page |
| Contents | 1 deck of 60 cards, plus a damage-counter and marker sheet only | official product page |
| Kinds | 100 kinds; which one you get is random | official product page (「100種類の中からどれか1つがキミの手に!」) |
| Guarantee | Two or more Pokémon ex in every deck | official product page |
| Play requirement | Two or more decks are needed for a game | official product page |
The official page does not list a coin, a playmat or a code card. On the general beginner page, pokemon-card.com describes constructed decks as the choice for people who want to start battling quickly, with a 60-card deck included, as opposed to booster packs for people who just want to collect cards. That is the official framing for the product this card comes from.
Two official notices add context. The December 19, 2025 notice says additional production will continue according to sales, and asks customers not to contact shops about re-sale. A second notice on December 20, 2025 corrected a packing error in decks No.004 and No.101; it concerns those two decks and not the card in this guide. The deck numbering in the official text runs 001 to 100, and the notice confirms that a deck No.101 exists. Fan sites (PokéWiki and premium.gamepedia.jp) report 102 variations in total; that figure is a report, not an official count.
A second practical point comes from the same page: a single-deck product cannot be played on its own, because a game needs two or more decks. A newcomer who opens one deck therefore needs a second deck from this product or another before the first game. Each deck is 60 cards, which matches the official deck-size rule quoted above.

Our store also lists the sealed product as the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, currently listed at ¥1,097 (~$7). The deck is random, so buying one is not a way to target a particular high-number card; the guide to the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection covers the product, and the regular vs White Box guide covers the two sealed listings.

The Regular Print vs the 743/742
The official database holds two entries for エリカのモンジャラ in this product: the high-number 743/742 (database id 50011) and a regular print (database id 48730). The number of the regular print is not stated in our sources, so we do not give one, and this guide centres on the 743/742.
| Detail | Regular print | 743/742 |
|---|---|---|
| Database id | 48730 | 50011 |
| Number | Not stated in our sources | 743/742 |
| Illustrator | Not stated in our sources | buchi |
| Our listing | Not covered in this guide | Currently listed at ¥16,566 (~$108) |
The practical consequence is simple. If a card is named エリカのモンジャラ and its number sits below 742, it is not the card in our listing; if it reads 743/742, it is.
The Run That Starts at 743
The base numbering of MC is 001 to 742. premium.gamepedia.jp reports the high numbers 743 to 766 as 24 cards, with 743 to 756 given as the AR Style cards. That list does not include 747, although our own catalogue names a Vikavolt AR Style as MC 747/742.
The official database lets us confirm three of these cards, with their printed details.
| No. | Card (as printed) | Stage | HP | Illustrator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 743/742 | エリカのモンジャラ | たね | 80 | buchi |
| 749/742 | ジュペッタ | 1進化 | 90 | YASHIRO Nanaco |
| 755/742 | イーブイ | たね | 50 | Makura Tami |

The three illustrator credits are three different people, so the run is not the work of one artist. The 755/742 イーブイ carries the Ability ブーストしんか and the attack とつげき30, which the database prints with 10 damage to the Pokémon itself, while the 749/742 ジュペッタ is a Stage 1 with 90 HP. Those details belong to their own cards and say nothing about the Tangela.
Our guide to the Style secret cards ranked by PSA 10 price covers the run as a whole, and the guide to MEGA Charizard Y ex 766/742 covers the number at the other end.
Our AR Style Listings Side by Side
The table sets out the AR Style listings we carry from this run, with each listing name copied as we publish it. Visible listings are currently listed; back orders are sourced to order and the product page shows the current terms.
| No. | Listing name | Our price |
|---|---|---|
| 749/742 | PSA10 Banette AR Style | Currently listed at ¥13,850 (~$90) |
| 743/742 | PSA10 Erika’s Tangela AR Style | Currently listed at ¥16,566 (~$108) |
| 747/742 | PSA10 Vikavolt AR Style | PSA 10 back order at ¥20,999 (~$136) |
| 755/742 | PSA10 Eevee AR Style | PSA 10 back order at ¥39,590 (~$257) |
The rows are ordered by our listed price, lowest first. That ordering describes our own price list on October 29, 2026; it does not say how any card is valued elsewhere, and we make no forecast. The Tangela sits between the Banette and the Vikavolt, and the Eevee, a Basic Pokémon with 50 HP, is listed at more than twice the Tangela’s figure. We give no cause for the differences between the four.

For the full catalogue, see the card list.
How to Tell Which Erika’s Tangela You Hold
The number printed on the card is the first thing to read. The table sets out what each reading points to.
| What the card shows | What it points to |
|---|---|
| 743/742 and the credit buchi | The high-number print discussed here (database id 50011) |
| The name エリカのモンジャラ with a number below 742 | The regular print in this product (database id 48730) |
| HP 80, Basic, Ability ひゃっかりょうらん | The card text printed on the 743/742 |
| A card named モンジャラ without エリカの | A different card from the one in this guide |
For a graded copy, the slab label records the number the grader entered, so compare it with the number printed on the card. We do not quote label wording; the photo on each product page shows what the label reads. A PSA 10 designation means the card was graded 10 by PSA, and the listing photo is the place to confirm which card is in the slab.
If you are new to the game behind these cards, our beginner guide to playing Pokémon cards covers the rules, and the Starter Set ex comparison sets other Japanese beginner decks side by side.
Known and Unknown

| Rarity letter (“AR”) | Not on the official page; reported by cardrush-pokemon.jp and premium.gamepedia.jp; used here only as our listing names it |
| Regulation mark letter of this card | Not asserted; the database shows only a set-logo image. The J mark’s debut in this product is official |
| Number of the regular print | Not stated in our sources; the database id is 48730 |
| Number of cards in the 743–766 run | 24 is reported by premium.gamepedia.jp; the official database confirms three of them in this guide |
| Total number of decks | Official: 「全100種類」, and deck No.101 exists; 102 variations is a fan-site report |
A Note on the October 29, 2026 Trademark Reports
On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「バトルスタートデッキ」 (working English translation: Battle Start Deck; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible beginner-deck product; nothing is announced. Our Battle Start Deck trademark article explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the ex★ 2027 trademarks round-up places it next to the three other reported names.
