The 087/066 Ultra Rare is not a separate set — it belongs to the “Terastal Fest ex” reprint subset that Ancient Roar carries alongside its main numbering. The illustrator credit is Naoki Saito, a different artist from either the base print or the SAR.
Naoki Saito also illustrated an English-only reprint of Mela in Prismatic Evolutions 140/131 (Ultra Rare). That English printing has no separate Japanese card number of its own — it is a distinct release rather than a fourth JP variant, so it does not appear in the printing table above.
The Base Print: Mela 066/066
The 066/066 print is the version that opened Ancient Roar boosters in the standard numbered run — a regular Uncommon, illustrated by kirisAki. It shares the card number’s denominator with every other Mela printing in the set, since 066 is also the set’s total count for the main numbered run before the Terastal Fest ex and secret-rare tiers are added on top.
This is the printing that lines up most directly with the English Paradox Rift 167/182 release — same Uncommon rarity, same core artwork treatment, different language and card number.
Illustrator “rika” and the Card’s Effect
All three Mela printings share the same game text: attach a basic Fire Energy card from your discard pile to one of your Pokemon, then draw cards until you have 6 cards in hand. The catch is the trigger condition — it can only be played if one of your own Pokemon was knocked out during your opponent’s previous turn.
The SAR’s illustrator is credited simply as rika, lowercase, on Limitless’s card index.
The illustrator “rika” credited on the Mela SAR is not the same as the Pokemon character Rika from Raging Surf. One is an artist credit, the other is a Trainer character in a different set entirely — there’s no confirmed connection between the two names beyond the spelling.
