Who Is Perrin? Scarlet and Violet’s Only Photographer

Perrin debuted in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s “The Teal Mask” DLC as the game’s first — and so far only — character assigned the Trainer class “Photographer.” She’s a traveling photographer from the Sinnoh region who arrives in Kitakami chasing a very specific subject: the “Bloodmoon Beast,” a special Ursaluna said to roam the area.

Perrin is written as easygoing and informal, referring to the player character as “partner” throughout the DLC. Her entire arc in “The Teal Mask” is built around fieldwork — tracking a rumoured creature through Kitakami’s countryside with a camera rather than a Poké Ball as her main tool — which is a notably different framing from most Trainer classes in the core series.

She reappears later in “The Indigo Disk” DLC, this time working at Blueberry Academy’s Terarium, where her job shifts to photographing newly discovered species turning up in the academy’s research grounds. Across both appearances, the throughline is the same: Perrin is defined by observation and documentation rather than battling, in keeping with her status as the only “Photographer” class character in the games so far.

That photography theme carries straight through to her card artwork — GIDORA’s illustration for the 092/066 SAR leans into the same camera-and-fieldwork framing that defines the character in-game, rather than depicting her in a battle scene.
