If you only need the sealed product, the Japanese OP-16 The Time of Battle booster box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) page shows current pricing and availability, and checkout confirms both. The rest of this guide explains the set itself, so you know what you are buying before you choose a box, a damaged box or a carton.

What is OP-16 The Time of Battle?
OP-16 The Time of Battle is the 16th main booster set of the ONE PIECE CARD GAME, and its theme is the Paramount War. The Bandai Japan catalog calls it 「頂上決戦をテーマとしたブースターパック第16弾!」, which means “the 16th booster pack, themed on the Paramount War.” The Asia English page also gives the theme as “Paramount War.” Our listing calls it the Marineford / Paramount War era.
One set has three names, which can confuse searches:
- OP-16 is the set code. It is the same on the Japanese, Asia English and English official pages. Cards in the set are numbered OP16-001, OP16-002 and so on.
- The Time of Battle is the English name, written on the official English page as BOOSTER PACK -THE TIME OF BATTLE- [OP-16].
- 決戦の刻 (Kessen no Toki) is the Japanese name, written on the Japanese site as ブースターパック 決戦の刻【OP-16】.
When you see “OP-16”, “The Time of Battle” or “Kessen no Toki” in a shop listing or video title, it means the same set. What changes is the edition. The Japanese edition is printed in Japanese. The English edition is a separate product with its own release date and price. Samurai Sword Tokyo sells the Japanese edition. The Bandai catalog gives the recommended age as 9 and up, and the product is sold in toy sections in Japan.
The official pages name the set’s headline cards: the new Leaders, the two Secret Rares (Portgas.D.Ace and Marshall.D.Teach) and the Three Admirals Super Alt-Arts. Our own box listing names Portgas D. Ace, Marshall D. Teach, the Admirals and the Marineford-era leaders as the main early collector watch points.
When did OP-16 release in Japan and in English?
The Japanese edition of OP-16 released on Saturday, May 30, 2026, and the English edition released on June 12, 2026. The Japanese date comes from the Japanese official product page and the Bandai catalog. The English date comes from the English official product page. The Asia English page shows “AVAILABLE MAY 30, 2026”, the same day as Japan.
| Date (2026) | 事件 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| April 17 – April 26 | Applications for the Japanese release-commemoration event | one-piece.com news |
| May 1 | Event winners announced | one-piece.com news |
| May 30 (Sat) | Japanese edition release; Asia English page lists the same date | Japanese official site |
| May 30 – June 14 | Release-commemoration event period in Japan | one-piece.com news |
| June 12 | English edition release | English official site |
| June 25 – July 2 | Premium Bandai lottery sale application period | Japanese official site |
Two notes on these dates. First, the Bandai catalog says the release date was a planned date and could differ by region and store. Some Japanese shops can show different first-sale days for the same set. Second, the Japanese official page lists a Premium Bandai lottery sale application period from June 25 to July 2, 2026. That application period ended on July 2, 2026.
The English page has a rule that matters for players. It says cards in the product “will be tournament legal starting 7 days after the release date in your region.” It also says cards can be used from the pre-release date at your local game store. This comes from the English page, so read it as the English-edition rule.
What is inside an OP-16 pack, box and carton?
An OP-16 pack has 6 cards. A Japanese booster box has 24 packs, and a carton holds 12 booster boxes. The 6-card pack count is on the Asia English page. The Japanese site says cards are randomly inserted. The 24-pack box and the 12-box carton are on our product listings.
| Unit | Contains | Cards (arithmetic) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 pack | 6 cards | 6 | Japanese MSRP 220 yen per pack (tax included) |
| 1 Japanese booster box | 24 packs | 24 × 6 = 144 | Per our box listing |
| 1 carton | 12 booster boxes | 12 × 24 = 288 packs, 1,728 cards | Our carton listing ships as the carton itself |
The arithmetic helps you set expectations. One box gives 144 cards, while the set has 127 types including DON!!. That does not mean one box makes a full set. The English and Asia English official pages warn that multiples of one card may appear and that a full set may be hard to assemble. Packs are random. Our box listing also says the cards in each box are randomly packed at the factory and individual pulls are not guaranteed.
For price context, 24 packs at the 220-yen Japanese per-pack MSRP adds up to 5,280 yen. That is only a multiplication of the official pack price. It is not a box price from Bandai, and it is not our selling price. The English edition MSRP on the English page is USD $4.99 per pack.

What rarities and how many card types are in OP-16?
OP-16 has 126 card types plus 1 DON!! card. The largest group is 45 Commons and the smallest is 1 Treasure Rare. The breakdown is on the Asia English page and matches the Japanese page.
| Rarity | Card types | Share of the 126 (arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 45 | about 36% |
| Uncommon | 30 | about 24% |
| Rare | 26 | about 21% |
| Super Rare | 10 | about 8% |
| Leader | 6 | about 5% |
| Special card | 6 | about 5% |
| Secret Rare | 2 | about 2% |
| Treasure Rare | 1 | under 1% |
| 总计 | 126 | 100% |
| DON!! card | 1 | the “+1” in 126+1 |
The numbers add up: 45 + 30 + 26 + 10 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 1 = 126, and the DON!! card makes the “+1”. The percentages are shares of card types, not chances of pulling a card. Bandai does not publish pull odds on these pages, so you cannot work out how often a Secret Rare appears from this table. The table tells you what exists and how many slots each rarity has in a full checklist.
The English page lists the same rarity names: Commons, Uncommons, Rares, Super Rares, Secret Rares, Leaders, Specials, Treasure Rare and the DON!! Card. For the full parallel, SP and Secret Rare breakdown, see our OP-16 parallel, SP and Secret Rare list. For every card by number, see the full OP-16 card list.
Which new Leaders are in OP-16?
The Japanese and Asia English pages list six new OP-16 Leaders: Portgas.D.Ace, Monkey.D.Luffy, Buggy, Sengoku, Yamato and Marshall.D.Teach. The English page lists five of them and leaves out Sengoku.
| Card number | Leader | Listed on Japanese page | Listed on English page |
|---|---|---|---|
| OP16-001 | Portgas.D.Ace | Yes | Yes |
| OP16-022 | Monkey.D.Luffy | Yes | Yes |
| OP16-041 | Buggy | Yes | Yes |
| OP16-060 | Sengoku | Yes | Not in the new-Leader list |
| OP16-079 | Yamato | Yes | Yes |
| OP16-080 | Marshall.D.Teach | Yes | Yes |
Sources: Japanese official site, Asia English official site, English official site. The rarity table on the Japanese and Asia English pages has six Leader card types, which matches the six-name list. If you are checking off Leaders from a Japanese box, use six.
The Japanese release event tied play to the set’s theme. The official announcement said only Leader cards tied to the Marineford Paramount War could be used in it (see the event section below).
Ace and Teach each show up twice in the set’s headline cards: once as a Leader (OP16-001 and OP16-080) and once as a Secret Rare (OP16-118 and OP16-119). For a reader who follows one character, that means two headline card numbers to track for each of them.

Which OP-16 cards are collectors watching?
The headline cards on the official pages are the two Secret Rares, OP16-118 Portgas.D.Ace and OP16-119 Marshall.D.Teach, plus the Three Admirals Super Alt-Arts: OP16-073 Borsalino, OP16-065 Sakazuki and OP16-063 Kuzan. The English and Asia English official pages say that Ace and Teach “debut as SEC cards” in this set. Our own box listing names Portgas D. Ace, Marshall D. Teach, the Admirals and the Marineford-era Leaders as the main early collector watch points.
The two Secret Rares
OP-16 has exactly two Secret Rare card types in the official rarity table, and the official pages name them as OP16-118 Portgas.D.Ace and OP16-119 Marshall.D.Teach. With only two SEC slots, each one is a large share of the set’s Secret Rare checklist.

The Three Admirals Super Alt-Arts
The English and Asia English pages call these “Super Alt-Art” cards featuring the “Three Admirals”. The Japanese page calls them スーパーパラレル (Super parallel). The cards are OP16-073 Borsalino, OP16-065 Sakazuki and OP16-063 Kuzan. Collectors who want all three as a matching group should know they are three different card numbers, so you need all three to complete the trio.

The featured characters
The English and Asia English pages also list four featured cards: OP16-003 Edward.Newgate, OP16-015 Monkey.D.Luffy, OP16-048 Buggy and OP16-032 Boa Hancock. They are listed as featured characters, separate from the rarity table.

This guide does not list card prices. Single-card prices change too fast for a set overview to stay accurate. If you are deciding which cards to chase and whether a box makes sense for you, our OP-16 chase cards guide covers that angle separately.
How is the Japanese edition of OP-16 different from the English edition?
The two editions share the set code OP-16, the 126+1 card-type count and the named SEC and Three Admirals card numbers. They differ in language, release date and MSRP. The table compares only what the official pages state.
| 商品 | Japanese edition | English edition |
|---|---|---|
| Official name | ブースターパック 決戦の刻【OP-16】 | BOOSTER PACK -THE TIME OF BATTLE- [OP-16] |
| Release date | May 30, 2026 | June 12, 2026 |
| MSRP per pack | 220 yen (tax included) | USD $4.99 |
| Card types | 126 types + 1 | 126+1 types in total |
| SEC cards named | OP16-118, OP16-119 | OP16-118, OP16-119 |
| Three Admirals | Super parallel: OP16-073, OP16-065, OP16-063 | Super Alt-Art: OP16-073, OP16-065, OP16-063 |
| Official page | onepiece-cardgame.com | en.onepiece-cardgame.com |
Which edition fits you depends on what you plan to do with the cards. If you collect Japanese printings, or want the first edition released (Japan came out 13 days before the English edition), the Japanese edition is what you want. If you play in English-language tournaments, follow your local organiser’s rules. The English page’s tournament-legality note, “7 days after the release date in your region”, is written for the English product.
The Asia English page has two more details. It says the “English version will be avalible too!” [sic], and it says a playmat could be downloaded by completing either the Japanese or the English questionnaire, with both sharing the same design. The English and Asia English pages carry the same warnings: multiples may appear, a full set may be hard to complete, and illustrations may differ somewhat from the final product.
What happened at the OP-16 release events in Japan?
Release-commemoration exchange events were held at official shops across Japan from May 30 to June 14, 2026, and players could use only Leader cards tied to the Marineford Paramount War. The details come from the one-piece.com announcement.
- Event period: Saturday, May 30 to Sunday, June 14, 2026.
- Application period: Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 26, 2026.
- Winners announced: Friday, May 1, 2026.
- Format: 「全国の公式ショップにて、交流会が実施されます。」 Exchange events (交流会) at official shops nationwide.
- Leader restriction: only Leader cards related to the Marineford Paramount War could be used, and the announcement pointed players to the official homepage for details.
- Walk-ins: if there were open slots among the winning spots, people could join on the day.
The events have ended. The Leader restriction matches the Paramount War theme stated in the Bandai catalog.
Should you buy an OP-16 regular box, damaged box or carton?
Buy a regular box if you want a box in normal retail condition. A damaged box is an unopened box with cosmetic damage to the outer packaging, sold at a discount. A carton holds 12 boxes and ships as the carton itself. We have four OP-16 listings, and their terms differ:
| Listing | What you get | 状态 terms | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| OP-16 booster box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) | 1 Japanese box, 24 packs × 6 cards | Brand new and sealed | Collectors who keep or display the box, or want a normal unit to open |
| OP-16 booster box – Damaged Box (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) | 1 unopened Japanese box | Outer box damage such as dents, scratches or crushed corners; sold as-is; no returns or refunds | Openers who don’t care about the outer box |
| OP-16 carton | 1 carton of 12 Japanese boxes | Ships as the carton itself, not as 12 loose boxes | Buyers who want 12 boxes in the original carton |
| OP-16 carton – Damaged Carton | 1 unopened carton of 12 boxes | Cosmetic carton damage such as dents, creases or scuffs; sold as-is; no returns or refunds | Bulk openers who don’t care about the carton |
Read the damaged-item terms before you order. Both damaged listings say the item is sold as-is, that we do not respond to inquiries about the item, and that returns and refunds are not accepted. The photos are samples. On the damaged-box listing, the first image shows the regular product so you can identify the set, and the condition photos after it are samples from the same stock that show the typical level of damage. The box you get may look different. The damaged-box listing also says the box is unopened and the cards inside are unaffected. On the damaged-carton listing, the extra photos are general examples of packaging damage on other products, not the carton you will receive.
Why do these listings exist? Our warehouse in Tokyo buys large volumes of Japanese trading cards every day, and some boxes arrive with dents or scratches. Staff check every item against defined condition standards. Boxes that cannot be sold as mint are set aside and offered for less. For a full side-by-side comparison, see the OP-16 regular vs damaged box guide. For the general sealed-box buying process, see the OP-16 booster box buying guide.

How does buying OP-16 from Tokyo work?
Orders ship from Tokyo by FedEx with a tracking number. Standard FedEx International Connect Plus usually takes 3-7 business days after dispatch, and expedited FedEx International Priority usually takes 2-5. Both are estimates, not guaranteed dates. Shipping cost is worked out at checkout from your delivery address, and there is no minimum order amount or quantity.
| Topic | What our policy pages say |
|---|---|
| Standard shipping | FedEx International Connect Plus, with tracking; usually 3-7 business days after dispatch (estimate) |
| Expedited shipping | FedEx International Priority, with tracking; usually 2-5 business days after dispatch (estimate) |
| Handling time | Most orders are processed and shipped within 5 business days after PayPal or Wise payment has cleared (estimate; excludes weekends and Japanese national holidays) |

Sources: Shipping Policy and 支付方式.
A few points catch first-time international buyers. The delivery estimates do not include our handling time, customs processing, weekends, Japanese national holidays or carrier delays. Once a parcel is with FedEx, timing is set by the carrier and the destination country. Card payments go through PayPal’s own secure window, so we never see your card number. PayPal Pay Later appears only where PayPal offers it. Examples include Pay in 4 in the United States, Canada and Australia, and Pay in 3 in the United Kingdom. PayPal decides whether it shows on your order. Paying in yen means your bank or PayPal sets the exchange rate on your statement.
If you need to change your shipping address on a paid order before the shipment is scheduled, you can do it yourself in My Account under the order. The destination country cannot be changed. If the new address costs more to ship to, you pay the difference before dispatch.
