Most Elite Four members in the Pokemon TCG have a print history that sprawls across a decade and a dozen sets. Shauntal doesn’t. Her entire Japanese card history is two prints, one set, one release date — and nothing since.
That makes this a short guide by design. Shauntal, the Ghost-type Elite Four member from Unova, made her first and so far only Japanese TCG appearance in Raging Surf (SV3a) in September 2023: an Uncommon and a Secret Rare, both carrying the same card effect under two different illustrations. This guide covers exactly those two prints, what the card actually does, how the Japanese Secret Rare compares to its English Paradox Rift counterpart, and where to find her through the set she debuted in.
If you’ve searched for Shauntal expecting a long printing history the way you’d find for a mainline Pokemon or a longtime fan-favorite Trainer, this is the honest version instead: a single set, a single release date, and two ways to own the same card. That’s not a gap in this guide — it’s the complete picture.
Shauntal has exactly two Japanese prints, both from Raging Surf (SV3a, September 2023): an Uncommon at 059/062 and a Secret Rare at 082/062. We currently carry the Secret Rare graded — PSA 10 Shauntal SR (SV3a 082/062) is currently listed at ¥14,214. Chasing the set itself: the Raging Surf Booster Box is currently listed from ¥12,480.
Pricing reflects our own catalog as of August 2026, converted at ¥163/USD where noted.
Every Shauntal Pokemon Card (Both Japanese Prints)
Two prints, one set, one card effect between them:
| 卡牌 | Number | Rarity | Set | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shauntal | SV3a 059/062 | U | Raging Surf | 2023 |
| Shauntal ★ PSA 10 in stock | SV3a 082/062 | SR | Raging Surf | 2023 |
Shauntal has stayed put in Raging Surf since her September 2023 debut. Both prints carry the identical card effect — the difference between them is entirely illustration and rarity, not gameplay text. There is no VSTAR Universe cameo, no 25th Anniversary promo, no starter-deck reprint to track down. If you’re collecting Shauntal from Japan, these two cards are the complete set.
Who Is Shauntal in the Games
Shauntal is one of the four members of the Unova Elite Four, first appearing in Pokemon Black and White as the Ghost-type specialist stationed in the Pokemon League.
She’s a comparatively late arrival to the Pokemon Trading Card Game relative to her role in the games. Raging Surf, released a full decade-plus after her game debut, is her only TCG appearance in either language — the Uncommon and Secret Rare covered here, and their Paradox Rift counterparts in English.
As an Elite Four member rather than the Champion or a Gym Leader, Shauntal sits a tier below the characters who tend to get repeated TCG treatment — multiple sets, multiple eras, alternate-art reprints down the line. That positioning lines up with what actually happened on the card side: one debut, two rarities, and no second act so far. For Shauntal specifically, her checklist is two cards, full stop.
The Uncommon: Shauntal, SV3a 059/062

Shauntal is a Supporter card, and both her prints share the same effect: flip a coin. If heads, your opponent switches one of their Benched Pokemon into the Active Spot. If tails, you switch your own Active Pokemon with one from your Bench. It’s a disruption-or-repositioning tool in a single card, with the coin flip deciding which side of the table it benefits.
The 059/062 Uncommon is the standard-frame version most collectors will run into first — regular card stock, illustrated by yuu. It’s the playable copy of the effect, printed at the rarity tier meant to circulate in numbers rather than chase-card scarcity.
Mechanically, this is a card that can cut either way depending on the flip. A tails result gets you a free repositioning move, pulling a better-suited attacker off your Bench without spending a retreat. A heads result forces your opponent’s hand, dragging a Benched Pokemon into the Active Spot whether they wanted it there or not.
The Secret Rare: Shauntal, SV3a 082/062

The 082/062 Secret Rare is the same coin-flip Supporter text, reillustrated by En Morikura in Raging Surf’s alternate-art Secret Rare frame — card number pushed past the set’s official count of 62, the usual marker for a Japanese secret slot. It’s the print collectors actually go looking for, and the one graded copies circulate as.
Both prints share a card name, set, and card text. The number in the corner — 059/062 versus 082/062 — and the illustration style are the only ways to tell them apart at a glance.
We currently carry this print graded: PSA 10 Shauntal SR (SV3a 082/062) is currently listed at ¥14,214. It’s the graded entry point into a card with no reprint yet to compete with for population — every copy comes from a single set, Raging Surf.
That single set also means condition scarcity is doing more of the work here than distribution scarcity. There isn’t a second set diluting supply, but there also isn’t a second set adding fresh raw copies to the market either.
The English Version: Paradox Rift
Shauntal’s English release followed the same two-tier pattern as the Japanese set. Paradox Rift (2023) carries her as an Uncommon at 174/182, and as a full-art Ultra Rare at 243/182 — illustrated, like the Japanese Secret Rare, by En Morikura. The Ultra Rare and the Japanese SR share an artist even though they sit in different rarity systems, which is a useful anchor if you’re trying to match an English listing to its Japanese counterpart.
As with the Japanese side, there’s no second English set or reprint to track — Paradox Rift is Shauntal’s only English appearance so far, mirroring the single-set history on the Japanese side.
Raging Surf (SV3a): The Set Behind Both Prints
Raging Surf is the enhanced expansion pack that released in Japan on September 22, 2023, and it’s the only set either Shauntal print has ever come out of. Both her Uncommon and Secret Rare are pulled from the same boxes, alongside the rest of the set’s Water-type-leaning lineup. For the full rundown of what else is in the set, see our Raging Surf card list guide.
That single-set concentration is worth keeping in mind if you’re specifically hunting Shauntal through sealed boxes rather than buying a graded single directly: unlike a Supporter that’s been reprinted into three or four different high-class packs, there’s only one product line to open for a shot at either print, which simplifies the search even if it doesn’t make either card common.
Because there’s no second Shauntal set to diversify into, sealed Raging Surf product is the direct route to either of her prints if you’re opening rather than buying singles. For a mixed order of boxes and graded singles in one checkout, our Quick Order page is the fastest option.
