Entei and Entei V in Pokemon Start Deck 100 (SI 055/414, 056/414)

The Two SI Entei Prints at a Glance

The official Japanese card database on pokemon-card.com (the Pokemon Card Game card search) is the source for every field below. It does not print rarity letters for these cards, so none is given here.

The regular Entei is a Basic Pokemon numbered No.244 in the Pokedex line of the card, with the label かざんポケモン (rendering: Volcano Pokemon). The V rows in the database carry no Pokedex line, and the V carries the special rule that when a Pokemon V is Knocked Out the opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

For the wider family of Entei cards, our Entei cards guide and the Entei, Raikou and Suicune card guide cover the other eras. This article stays with the starter-deck prints.

Entei SI 055/414 (kodama)

The regular Entei is a Basic with 130 HP and two attacks. Rendered from the printed Japanese (rendering):

The Energy cost of each attack is printed as symbols that the database text does not carry, so costs are not stated here. The retreat line and weakness symbols are likewise not reproduced.

The artwork is by kodama. This is a plain card without the special rule line that the V carries, so the 2-Prize rule printed on the V does not appear on it.

Same Text, Other Sets

Neither SI card is unique in what it says. The database holds other prints with the same printed text, which is why the number and set code matter more than the card name.

Three Entei prints share the kodama text: SI 055/414, S5I 009/070 and SO 008/030. SO 008/030 is the Entei in the Special Deck Set, which our Sword & Shield era Entei guide covers print by print.

Three Entei V entries share the PLANETA Mochizuki credit and the same card text: the two SI entries and S12a 019/172 from VSTAR Universe. The S12a 213/172 carries the same text but is credited to Shigenori Negishi, so its artwork differs; it is numbered above the 172 printed in the set, so the number over the denominator is what separates it. We list a PSA 10 copy of that S12a print as a back order: the Entei V SAR 213/172 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥15,525 (~$101) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. The separate Entei V PSA 10 guide goes through that card in depth.

We do not currently list any SI print of Entei or Entei V, as raw cards or as graded cards. If you hold one, the printed 055/414 or 056/414, with the SI set code, is the identifier.

Building a Deck Around Entei: The Official Rules

A Start Deck 100 deck is already 60 cards, which is the official size: the pokemon-card.com how-to-play page says each player uses one deck of 60 cards. A few other official rules decide how an extra Entei or Entei V fits in.

The official page gives the example that ピカチュウ and ピカチュウex count as different names. Reading Entei the same way, a deck may carry up to four エンテイ and, separately, up to four エンテイV; that is our reading of the printed example, not a separate rule for Entei. The two SI database entries for the V are the same card for deck-building purposes, since they share a name.

Legality is a separate question. The Standard regulation on the official rules page, effective Friday, January 23, 2026, is cards whose lower-left regulation mark is H, I or J. The database detail page does not display the regulation mark as text, so whether a given SI card falls inside that window has to be checked on the physical card. We do not assert a mark for SI 055/414 or 056/414.

Beginners wanting a ready-to-play product rather than a random draw can look at the Starter Set ex line, which uses fixed decks. Our Starter Set ex comparison guide compares them, and the store lists Starter Set ex Zorua & Zoroark ex at ¥1,584 (~$10) and Starter Set ex Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex at ¥1,796 (~$12). Entei inclusion in either deck is not established in our sources; they are included here for the learning-to-play angle only.

Where to Buy Start Deck 100 Products from Japan

For the product family, the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection is currently listed at ¥1,097 (~$7), and the White Box variant is currently listed at ¥38,570 (~$250). For a V from the same Pokemon in a graded copy, see the Entei V SAR 213/172 PSA 10 back order at ¥15,525 (~$101) described above.
