Storm Emeralda (M6), released in Japan on July 31, 2026, introduces something the Pokemon TCG has never printed before: Stadium cards that come in two halves. Each of the set’s three Stadiums — Legendary Trench, Legendary Summit and Legendary Lava Cave — exists as a left card and a right card, and you play both halves from your hand together as a single Stadium.
This guide explains exactly how the mechanic works based on the printed card text, what each of the three Stadiums does, and what the new cards mean for players and collectors. We photograph and ship Japanese singles and sealed Storm Emeralda product from Tokyo daily, so the rules text below is transcribed from the physical cards.
How Two-Part Stadium Cards Work
Each half carries the same card name and its own collector number — Legendary Trench is 071/076 and 072/076, Legendary Summit is 073/076 and 074/076, and Legendary Lava Cave is 075/076 and 076/076. The printed rule on every half reads:
“This card can’t be played on its own. Combine the 2 kinds of this Stadium from your hand and play them as 1 Stadium.” (このカードは1枚だけでは出せず、自分の手札から2種類を組み合わせて、1枚のスタジアムとして場に出す。)
In practice that means:
- You need both halves in hand before you can play the Stadium at all. One half alone is a dead card.
- Once combined, the pair sits beside the Battle Field as one Stadium and follows every normal Stadium rule: one Stadium play per turn, a new Stadium discards it, and a Stadium with the same name can’t be played over it.
- The official deck-building rule counts the halves together: left and right halves of one Stadium can total up to four cards in your deck — for tournament deck registration, the number of left and right halves you register must match what is physically in the deck.
The panorama is also the hook for collectors: placed side by side, the two halves form a single continuous landscape illustration — the first time the TCG has printed Stadium art across two cards.
The Three Legendary Stadiums and Their Effects
All six halves sit in the base set at Uncommon (U) rarity — numbers 071 to 076 of 076 — and there are no secret-rare versions of them in M6. Effects below are transcribed from the printed Japanese cards; English names are our working translations, since Storm Emeralda is a Japanese-only set until the international Delta Reign release.

Why Legendary Summit matters most
Mega Rayquaza ex — the set’s cover card — is a Colorless Pokemon that gives up 3 Prize cards when Knocked Out. With Legendary Summit in play, that becomes 2 Prizes instead of 3: two Mega Rayquaza ex knockouts no longer end the game at six Prizes, and the opponent has to find a third knockout. That single interaction is why Summit is the half-pair most players are testing first.
Trench and Lava Cave
Legendary Trench doubles all HP recovery for both players — Wishiwashi ex heals 100 HP instead of 50 with its Ability, and any healing-focused list gets the same doubling. Legendary Lava Cave is the wild card: shutting off the Abilities of every evolved Pokemon in play is a sweeping anti-meta effect, and because it hits both sides of the table, decks built around Basic Pokemon can run it with almost no downside.
Collector Notes
- Six slots, three artworks — a complete “playset for display” is six cards (both halves of all three Stadiums), all pulled from regular Storm Emeralda packs at Uncommon rarity, so assembling the full panorama set costs very little.
- First-print premium is possible later — first-of-a-mechanic cards (the first ACE SPEC, the first Prism Star, the first Radiant) have historically picked up collector interest years after release. At U rarity the supply is large, but clean first-print copies of the first two-part Stadiums are an inexpensive long hold.
- No secret versions in M6 — the secret-rare block (077-113) contains AR, SR, SAR and MUR cards, but no alternate versions of the Stadium halves.

Can I play a two-part Stadium with only one half?
No. The printed rule states the card can’t be played on its own — you must combine both halves from your hand and play them together as one Stadium. A single half stuck in your hand does nothing until you draw its partner.
How many two-part Stadium cards can I put in a deck?
The left and right halves of one Stadium are counted together and can total up to four cards in a deck. For tournaments with deck registration, the number of left and right halves you register must match what is physically in your deck.
Which sets have two-part Stadium cards?
As of July 2026, only Storm Emeralda (M6) — the mechanic debuted there with three Stadiums: Legendary Trench (071-072/076), Legendary Summit (073-074/076) and Legendary Lava Cave (075-076/076). The international versions are expected when the set reaches the West as Delta Reign in November 2026.
Are the two-part Stadiums worth money?
All six halves are Uncommon rarity, so raw copies are inexpensive on release day. Their appeal is playability (especially Legendary Summit with Mega Rayquaza ex) and the novelty of the first two-card Stadium panorama artwork — historically, first-of-a-mechanic cards have gained collector interest over time.
