Card 014/028 in 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (S8a) is Cosmog, the tiny Nebula Pokémon that opens the Alola region’s Cosmog line in this set — the first of four cards, 014–017/028, that trace its evolution into Cosmoem and then into either Solgaleo or Lunala.

Cosmog 014/028 is a Psychic-type Basic Pokémon with 60 HP and one attack, Star Protection, which can block all attack damage on the opponent’s next turn on a coin flip. It’s illustrated by kirisAki, who is credited on all four cards in this run. This single card isn’t listed on our site at the moment, but our S8A-25th Anniversary Collection Booster Box is currently listed at ¥67,200 (~$436) (September 17, 2026).
Cosmog 014/028: The Card
Cosmog 014/028 is credited on the official card database to illustrator kirisAki, who is credited on all four cards in this run (014–017/028), keeping the whole line visually consistent within the set. It’s a Basic Pokémon, so it goes straight into play from the opening hand, with a single attack built around defence rather than damage.
The database’s Pokédex panel reads (verbatim JP): 「No.789 せいうんポケモン / 高さ：0.2 m 重さ：0.1 kg / この世界の ポケモンかは 謎。 ピンチに なると ワープを 使って 安全な 場所へ 身を 隠す。」 — our rendering: National Pokédex No. 789, the Nebula Pokémon, height 0.2 m, weight 0.1 kg; whether it’s a Pokémon of this world is a mystery, and when it’s in danger, it uses warp to hide itself in a safe place. That last detail — the warp escape — lines up neatly with its one printed attack.

Cosmog has one attack, [Colorless] “Star Protection” (our rendering of ほしのまもり), which reads verbatim: 「コインを1回投げオモテなら、次の相手の番、このポケモンはワザのダメージを受けない。」 — our rendering: flip a coin, and if heads, during your opponent’s next turn this Pokémon takes no damage from attacks. It costs a single Colorless energy and no damage figure is printed on it.
With 60 HP, Cosmog is on the fragile end for a Basic Pokémon in this set, and its Weakness to Darkness (×2) means a Darkness-type attacker can knock it out quickly if the coin flip on Star Protection doesn’t land in your favour. Its retreat cost of a single Colorless energy is the cheapest in this four-card evolution line.
The official product page gives the set’s size as 全28種類 (28 kinds), and card 014/028 is one of them. Separately, the official card database carries 25 numbered entries for S8a, 001/028 through 025/028, plus 8 Basic Energy prints that show no number. Each ¥297 pack holds 5 holo cards, one of them a basic Energy card, and the official page states the finish once for the whole set: 「カードはすべてキラカード。全28種類のカードから、ランダムで5枚のカードを封入。」
Cosmog’s Place in the Alola Evolution Line
The database’s own evolution panel for Cosmog lists, top to bottom: 「ソルガレオGX / ルナアーラGX || ルナアーラ / ソルガレオ || コスモウム || [THIS CARD] コスモッグ」 — that is, Cosmog sits at the base, evolving into Cosmoem at 015/028, which in turn can evolve into either Solgaleo at 016/028 or Lunala at 017/028. The panel also names a further Solgaleo GX / Lunala GX tier; those are cards from other sets and are not covered here.
Cosmoem carries the exact same Star Protection attack text as Cosmog, word for word, before Solgaleo and Lunala branch off into their own distinct attacks and abilities.

Cosmog in the Rest of the 25th Anniversary Line
Cosmog is not in the official 「プロモカードパック 25th ANNIVERSARY edition」 (S8a-P) checklist — that 25-card list reproduces older cards, and no card from this Alola line is on it. The promo pack was handed out with purchases of four booster packs during the launch campaign; the Special Set also contained one. The official page adds that cards from that pack cannot be used in official tournaments.
The Golden Box’s separate S8a-G subset is a Pikachu deck — Pikachu V, Pikachu, Raichu, Pikachu VMAX, five Item cards, four Supporters and a Basic Lightning Energy, 16 entries in all — so there is no Cosmog card in it.
Cosmog appears again in 30th CELEBRATION (M6a)’s main set, grouped with Cosmoem and Lunala in the 064–066 number block, released worldwide on September 16, 2026.
