A completely different card also gets called «Mega Charizard Y» in casual conversation: the Y-focused version of M Charizard EX from 2014–2016. The Japanese card face for this older era simply reads リザードンEX / «M Charizard EX» — there is no separate «X» or «Y» printed on the card — but the Y-version is a distinct illustration and attack set tied to its own deck, and it is not a reprint of, or related print to, the 2025–26 Mega Charizard Y ex above. This is the original Y-version printing: card 002/021 from the Japan-exclusive 60-card theme deck メガバトルデッキ60「MリザードンEX」, released 15 March 2014 alongside the «Wild Blaze» expansion. HP 220, Fire type, illustrated by 5ban Graphics. This particular Mega Battle Deck is built around the Y-version of the card.
CP6 013/087 — 20th Anniversary Reprint (2016)
