Scizor’s Japanese card history runs from a plain Uncommon in 2022 to a Mega Evolution secret rare that predates the entire Sword & Shield block. Scizor full art cards include the SR prints: M Scizor EX (XY9), Scizor V (S3) and Scizor ex (SV5M). Along the way it has picked up a shiny GX, a V/VMAX pairing, an ex, and a second shiny reprint — six different sets and three different foil treatments.
We ship Japanese sealed product and singles out of Tokyo. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
Scizor has appeared in at least ten Japanese printings across six sets since 2015. The SR full-art prints include the Mega Evolution-era M Scizor EX SR from Rage of the Broken Heavens (XY9), the Scizor V SR from Infinity Zone (S3) and the Scizor ex SR from Cyber Judge (SV5M).

Scizor Full Art Cards: The Japanese SR Prints
Collectors use “full art” for prints whose artwork fills the whole card face. Japanese sets do not print those words: the official card database prints only a rarity code, and the full-art treatments are the SR (full-art ex and Supporter cards), SAR (Special Art Rare), AR (Art Rare), CHR / CSR (Character Rare) and the gold UR and rainbow HR printings.

The Mega Evolution Chase Card: M Scizor EX SR (XY9)
![M Scizor EX [XY9 087/080] SR (Rage of the Broken Heavens)](https://samuraiswordtokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/img_scizor_xy9_87_r_jp_6662dc5962dc-1.webp)
Rage of the Broken Heavens (XY9) closed out 2015 with a Steel-type, 220 HP Mega Evolution card illustrated by 5ban Graphics, released in two printings on the same card text: a standard rare (058/080) and a special art rare (087/080). The set came out December 11, 2015, and its English-language counterpart — where M Scizor EX appears as card #77 (regular) and #120 (full art) — is BREAKpoint.
The set’s official Japanese name is 破天の怒り, most commonly translated as Rage of the Broken Heavens. You may also see it shortened to « Anger of Heaven » on some listings — that’s the same set, not a different one. If you’re cross-checking a card, match it on the number (087/080) rather than the set-name translation.
For this exact print, see our M Scizor EX SR 087/080 card guide.
For the rest of the set’s chase cards, see our Rage of the Broken Heavens best cards guide.
Mega Evolution and the XY Era
M Scizor EX belongs to the XY block’s Mega Evolution mechanic, where playing the M-prefixed card over the EX ends your turn unless a Spirit Link tool is attached beforehand. It’s one of the earlier chase-card treatments of that mechanic in the Japanese card pool.
Mechanically, playing the M-prefixed card without a Spirit Link attached ends your turn immediately, which is one reason Mega Evolution cards were built with a higher power ceiling than a same-generation EX — 220 HP and a Steel typing.
For how Mega Evolution cards are priced and chased across the wider Japanese TCG, see our Mega Evolution Pokemon cards chase card guide. And for the EX and Mega EX mechanics that defined the whole XY block, our XY-era EX and Mega EX cards guide covers the broader pattern, alongside our XY-era Japanese Pokemon guide for context on the block as a whole.
Modern Scizor: GX, V, VMAX, and ex
Between the 2015 Mega Evolution card and the current Shiny Treasure ex reprint, Scizor picked up four more mechanics across three sets — a GX, a V/VMAX pairing, a plain Uncommon reprint, and an ex. None of the four carry the Mega Evolution build-up cost of the XY9 card; they’re standalone evolutions that stand or fall on their own attack lines.

Scizor-GX first appeared as a standard Steel-type card in Champion’s Road (SM6b 041/066), then returned in shiny colours as a secret rare in GX Ultra Shiny (SM8b 233/150), released November 2, 2018. At 210 HP, it carries the ability Hazard Sensor — a damage boost of +80 once it’s down to 100 HP or less — and the GX attack Cross Cut GX. The English equivalent is Hidden Fates #SV72.
Scizor V and VMAX debuted together in Infinity Zone (S3), released June 5, 2020. Scizor V (066/100, RR, illustrated by Shin Nagasawa) carries the attack Nikkie Tone, which discards an opponent’s Pokemon Tool or Special Energy; a special art rare version exists at 107/100 (illustrated by Satoshi Shirai). Scizor VMAX (067/100, RR, illustrated by 5ban Graphics) jumps to 320 HP with the attack Max Steel for 190 damage. The English equivalent is Darkness Ablaze #118/#119.
A plainer Uncommon Scizor followed in Incandescent Arcana (S11a 044/068, released September 2, 2022) — 130 HP, attacks Scissor Cross and Dangerous Claw, illustrated by kodama, with an English equivalent at Crown Zenith #86.
Most recently, Scizor ex arrived in Cyber Judge (SV5M), released January 26, 2024: a Stage 1, 270 HP card with the attacks Steel Wing and Cross Breaker, printed at RR (044/071, illustrated by toriyufu) and SR (089/071, illustrated by Eske Yoshinob). Its English equivalent is Temporal Forces #111/#195. The Sealed option of the SV5M Cyber Judge Booster Box is currently listed at ¥12,114 (~$79).
Shiny Scizor: The Shiny Treasure ex Reprint
![Scizor [SV4a 299/190] S (Shiny Treasure ex)](https://samuraiswordtokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/img_scizor_sv4a_299_r_jp_3c3ebb5fcd52-1.webp)
Scizor’s base card first appeared in Ruler of the Black Flame (SV3 077/108), then got a shiny-colored reprint in Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a 299/190), released December 1, 2023. It keeps the same 140 HP stat line and the attack Punishing Scissors — a base 10 damage that climbs by 50 for each ability-holding Pokemon on the opponent’s side — under a new shiny illustration credited to GOSSAN, and is printed at rarity S (Shiny).
Between the GX Ultra Shiny secret rare and the Shiny Treasure ex reprint, Scizor has two distinct shiny-colored printings six years apart, on two different card mechanics (GX versus base evolution).
