What are the OP-16 hits collectors chase?

The OP-16 hits are the cards the official pages put in front: the two Secret Rares, the three Super Alt-Art admirals, and the six new Leaders. Our own OP-16 booster box page (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) names the same group as the main early collector watch points: Portgas D. Ace, Marshall D. Teach, the Admirals, and Marineford-era leaders.

OP-16 The Time of Battle Japanese One Piece booster box image with Samurai Sword Tokyo logo

This is a set built around one story. Bandai’s catalog entry calls OP-16 the 16th booster pack with the summit-war theme, and the official Asia English page calls the theme Paramount War. The headline cards reflect that theme: Ace, Teach, the three admirals, and Sengoku all appear in the official card lists.

It helps to be precise about what « hit » means here. A hit is a card that collectors single out. It is not a card that is guaranteed in any box. The Japanese set is randomly packed, and our box page says so directly: the cards in each box are randomly packed at the factory and individual pulls are not guaranteed. This article gives no odds and no pull-rate numbers, because none appear in the official sources.

The rest of this guide goes in order of weight. It starts with the set’s structure, then the six Leaders, the two Secret Rares, the Three Admirals, and a handful of other featured cards. It then covers the Japanese and English editions, the box, carton and damaged-box listings, and shipping. For a full card-by-card view, use our OP-16 complete card list. For parallels in detail, see the parallel, SP and Secret Rare list.

What is inside OP-16 The Time of Battle?

OP-16 contains 127 card types in total: 126 regular types plus 1 DON!! card, packed 6 cards to a pack. The official Japanese product page and the Asia English page give the same rarity split, which is shown below.

Rarity Card types
Special Cards 6
Treasure Rare 1
Leader Cards 6
Secret Rare 2
Super Rare 10
Rare 26
Uncommon 30
Common 45
DON!! Card 1
Total 127

The table shows where the hits sit. The top of the ladder is tiny: 1 Treasure Rare, 2 Secret Rares and 6 Special Cards, which is 9 card types out of 127. Add the 6 Leaders and 10 Super Rares and the set has 25 card types above Rare. Everything else, 102 types, is Rare, Uncommon, Common or the DON!! card.

Two cautions from the official pages matter for anyone chasing a full set. Both the Asia English and English pages note that multiples of one card may appear in a pack and that a full set may be hard to assemble. The official Japanese pages also state that the product images may differ from the actual product because the product was still in development when the page was written, and that specifications may change. We use the card numbers and rarity counts as published and treat any image as an illustration.

The price per pack in Japan is 220 yen, tax included, on the official Japanese booster page. That figure is Bandai’s list price for one pack in Japan. It is not a market value and says nothing about what any single card trades for.

Which new Leaders does OP-16 add?

OP-16 adds six new Leaders: Portgas D. Ace, Monkey D. Luffy, Buggy, Sengoku, Yamato and Marshall D. Teach. The official page lists their card numbers, and the Asia English booster page adds a recommended deck color for each.

Card number Leader Recommended deck color
OP16-001 Portgas D. Ace Red
OP16-022 Monkey D. Luffy Green/Blue
OP16-041 Buggy Blue
OP16-060 Sengoku Purple
OP16-079 Yamato Black
OP16-080 Marshall D. Teach Black/Yellow

OP16-001 Portgas D. Ace Leader card from OP-16 The Time of Battle

Ace leads the number order at OP16-001, and Ace is also the red recommended deck. Ace appears twice in the set’s headline cards: once as Leader and once as Secret Rare at OP16-118. That is a useful detail when you read card lists, because the same character has different card numbers for different jobs. Number OP16-001 is the playable Leader. Number OP16-118 is the Secret Rare.

The official Japanese news post dated April 10, 2026 states an event rule for the release meetups. The meetups at official shops, held from May 30 to June 14, 2026, allowed only Leader cards tied to the Marineford summit war. The rule is quoted from the official ONE PIECE news page. Entries ran April 17 to April 26, lottery results were announced May 1, and walk-ins were possible if spots remained.

A related product matters for Ace and Luffy fans. Starter Deck EX Luffy & Ace [ST-30] released April 11, 2026 at 1,980 yen, tax included, per the same news page. It shipped before OP-16 and is listed as a related product on the OP-16 page. It is a separate product, and nothing in the sources says its cards are part of the OP-16 rarity table.

The English OP-16 page lists five new Leaders, with Sengoku (OP16-060) not among those named there. We note this only so you do not mistake the shorter list for a different set. The Japanese and Asia English pages both list six.

Which Secret Rare cards are in OP-16?

The two Secret Rares are OP16-118 Portgas D. Ace and OP16-119 Marshall D. Teach. The Japanese, Asia English and English product pages agree on those two numbers and those two characters, and the English page describes them as SEC debuts.

OP16-118 Portgas D. Ace Secret Rare card from OP-16 The Time of Battle

The set has only 2 Secret Rares among 127 card types. That is a plain structural fact about the set, and our box page lists Ace and Teach among its main early collector watch points.

OP16-119 Marshall D. Teach Secret Rare card from OP-16 The Time of Battle

Both Ace and Teach also have Leader cards in this set. Teach’s Leader is OP16-080, in Black/Yellow. So a Teach collector has two numbers to track: OP16-080 for the Leader and OP16-119 for the Secret Rare. An Ace collector tracks OP16-001 and OP16-118.

When you search for a hit by number, match the full number to the right print.

The Premium Bandai lottery sale gives one more sign of how the set was handled in Japan. Per the official Japanese booster page, lottery applications were accepted from June 25 to July 2, 2026. That is a sale channel for the product, not a statement about any card.

What are the Three Admirals Super Alt-Art cards?

The Three Admirals Super Alt-Art cards are OP16-073 Borsalino, OP16-065 Sakazuki and OP16-063 Kuzan. The Japanese page calls them super parallel cards, while the English pages call them Super Alt-Art, and all of them name the same three numbers.

OP16-073 Borsalino Super Alt-Art card, one of the Three Admirals in OP-16

Borsalino is OP16-073. The numbers are not in admiral order, so a list sorted by number puts Kuzan (063) first, then Sakazuki (065), then Borsalino (073). Keep that in mind when you buy single cards by number, because a quick glance at a list can make you mix up which admiral you are looking at.

OP16-065 Sakazuki Super Alt-Art card, one of the Three Admirals in OP-16

Sakazuki is OP16-065. Our box page lists the Admirals among the main early collector watch points, together with Ace, Teach and the Marineford leaders. No official page says how many Super Alt-Art cards appear per box, and no page ranks them against the Secret Rares, so any ranking between the admirals and the Secret Rares is a collector’s opinion rather than a published fact.

OP16-063 Kuzan Super Alt-Art card, one of the Three Admirals in OP-16

Kuzan is OP16-063. The three admirals are a set within the set: three characters, three numbers, one shared alternate-art treatment.

Which other OP-16 cards are worth knowing?

Beyond the Secret Rares and admirals, the official pages feature four more cards by number: OP16-003 Edward Newgate, OP16-015 Monkey D. Luffy, OP16-048 Buggy and OP16-032 Boa Hancock. The official Japanese product page lists them as other featured cards.

Newgate sits at OP16-003, right behind the Ace Leader in the number order. Luffy at OP16-015 is a separate card from the Leader OP16-022, and Buggy at OP16-048 is a different number from the Leader OP16-041. Boa Hancock at OP16-032 rounds out the featured list.

Two further groups have no named cards in the official sources. The set has 1 Treasure Rare and 6 Special Cards, and the pages publish those counts without naming the cards. This guide will not invent names for them. If you need a number-by-number view, our complete card list is the place to look.

The set also has 10 Super Rares and 26 Rares, and the official pages publish those counts. The Asia English page recommends a deck for each of the six Leaders across six color combinations, listed in the Leader table above.

How do you rank OP-16 hits without a price list?

Rank OP-16 hits by scarcity and by card number, because the official sources publish no prices for individual cards. That is the one gap in the record, and it is why this guide does not put a value on any card.

Here is a simple method you can apply yourself.

  1. Start with rarity count. Secret Rare has 2 types and Treasure Rare has 1, so those are the narrowest groups in the set.
  2. Add the alternate-art cards. The three admirals at OP16-063, 065 and 073 are the featured alternate-art group.
  3. Note the character. Ace and Teach each have both a Leader and a Secret Rare, so each has two card numbers to track.
  4. Check the print and number. Always confirm the full card number before you buy, because Leaders and Secret Rares of the same character have different numbers.
  5. Look at live listings on the day. A price reading is true only on the day you take it, so use a current listing rather than an article.

This approach avoids the two usual mistakes. The first is treating a Japanese list price of 220 yen per pack as a card value. The second is trusting a chase-card claim that has no source. If you read a pull-rate number for OP-16 elsewhere, check where it came from: the official product pages give rarity counts per set, not odds per pack.

One more point applies to any set with parallels. The official English pages say multiples of one card may appear and a full set may be hard to assemble. For a collector who wants every hit, that means buying singles is a different job from opening boxes. Opening boxes is for people who enjoy the opening itself. Singles are for people who know exactly which number they need.

Do the OP-16 hits differ between the Japanese and English editions?

Our shop ships the Japanese edition. If you want the Japanese print language, the cards on this page are the ones you are looking at. For dates and edition differences in more detail, read our OP-16 release date guide, and for the whole set see the OP-16 complete guide.

Which OP-16 product should you buy to chase the hits?

Buy the regular sealed booster box if you want the full box as released, and choose the damaged-box listing only if the outer packaging does not matter to you. All of these are Japanese-edition products shipped from Tokyo by FedEx with a tracking number.

OP-16 The Time of Battle Japanese One Piece Booster Box carton listing image

Our shop has four OP-16 listings. Availability changes, so check each page for the current state.

OP-16 The Time of Battle Japanese One Piece Booster Box - Damaged Box listing image

The damaged listings come with fixed terms. The product pages say the photos are samples, that the type and extent of damage vary by item, that the item is sold as-is, that the shop does not respond to inquiries about it, and that returns and refunds are not accepted. If those terms suit you, the damaged listings are the lower-priced route to the same sealed product. If they do not, take the regular box. Our regular vs damaged box guide goes through the trade-off, and our OP-16 booster box buying guide covers the purchase step by step.

One honest limit applies to every option. The box page states that this is a sealed, randomized product, that cards are randomly packed at the factory, and that individual pulls are not guaranteed. A box gives you 24 packs of 6 cards, which is 144 cards. It does not give you a Secret Rare, an admiral, or any named card.

How do shipping and payment work for an OP-16 order?

Orders ship from Tokyo by FedEx with a tracking number, and you pay in Japanese yen by Wise, PayPal or card through PayPal. The details below come from our shipping policy and payment methods page.

Topic What the policy says
Standard shipping FedEx International Connect Plus with a tracking number; usually 3-7 business days after dispatch (an estimate, not a guarantee)
Expedited shipping FedEx International Priority with a tracking number; usually 2-5 business days after dispatch (an estimate, not a guarantee)
Shipping cost Calculated automatically at checkout from your delivery address
Handling time Most orders are processed and shipped within 5 business days after PayPal or Wise payment has cleared (an estimate, not a guarantee)
Minimum order No minimum order amount or quantity
Adresse FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes; give a physical address
Payment currency All payments are in Japanese yen (JPY)
Virement bancaire Wise No payment processing fee; the only method without the 5% fee
PayPal and cards 5% payment processing fee applies; Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB are listed

Customs and carrier delays are outside the shop’s control once FedEx has the parcel. The shipping policy says customs inspections, import procedures, weather and carrier events may delay delivery, and that such transit delays do not by themselves create a right to cancel or refund after dispatch. Check the delivery schedule shown for your order and plan for those delays when you time an order around a tournament or a set deadline.
