What Is Dialga S8a 008/028?
Dialga 008/028 is a regular print in 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION (S8a), the Japanese expansion pack The Pokémon Company released to mark the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The database credits the artwork to 5ban Graphics and prints the card as a Basic Pokémon — playable straight from an opening hand, with no evolution requirement. Its own detail page carries no evolution-panel entry, unlike several of the set’s other Legendaries.
The card’s Pokédex panel reads, verbatim: “No.483 じかんポケモン / 高さ：5.4 m 重さ：683.0 kg / 時間を 操る 力を 持つ。 シンオウ地方では 神様と 呼ばれ 神話に 登場する。” Our rendering: Dialga is Dex No. 483, the Temporal Pokémon, 5.4 m tall and 683.0 kg, said in the Sinnoh region to hold the power to control time and to appear in the region’s mythology as a deity.

Time Reversal costs a single Metal Energy and recycles a card from the discard pile back to hand rather than dealing damage; Metal Blast is the card’s actual attacking option, scaling with however much Energy is already attached. Metal Blast is paid entirely in Colorless Energy, while Time Reversal carries the card’s only Metal-specific cost. S8a includes its own Basic Metal Energy print, one of the eight basic Energy cards the database lists for the set without a card number.
Where 008/028 Sits in the S8a Checklist
The official product page describes S8a as 全28種類 — 28 kinds of card, five dealt at random into every pack. The card database itself carries detail pages for 25 numbered cards, 001/028 through 025/028, plus eight basic Energy cards that show no printed number at all. Card numbers 026/028 through 028/028 aren’t separate database entries. The set also has a secret 029/028 Professor’s Research SR in the database, credited to Ken Sugimori, with the same Supporter text as the regular 003/028 print.
Dialga is one of only two Metal-type cards among the numbered S8a entries: 008/028 itself, and Solgaleo at 016/028, a Stage 2 with 170 HP credited to kirisAki. Its immediate neighbours read across types rather than regions — Kyogre at 007/028 (Water, 130 HP, Ryuta Fuse) before it, and Palkia at 009/028, which carries the same 5ban Graphics credit, after it. Dialga’s own detail page names no evolution and lists no BREAK or GX partner within this set, unlike Ho-Oh, Lugia, Xerneas and Yveltal, whose pages each carry a BREAK entry in the evolution panel.
Dialga Across the Rest of the 25th Anniversary Line
The Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition (S8a-P) reproduces 25 cards spanning 1996 to 2017, none of them Dialga. The 25th Anniversary Golden Box’s own S8a-G subset is 16 database entries — 001/015 through 015/015 plus an unnumbered Basic Lightning Energy — made up of five Pikachu-line Pokémon, six Items, four Supporters and that one Energy card, so Dialga is absent there too. That leaves this 008/028 print as Dialga’s only card in the 25th Anniversary line.
Dialga also appears in 2026’s 30th CELEBRATION at 082/103 — a separate card, not a reprint of this one.
