Lycanroc is a Rock-type Pokemon that debuted alongside the Alola region in the Sun & Moon era, evolving from Rockruff. Lycanroc full art cards include the Lycanroc V SR from S7D, the Lycanroc ex SR from SV1a and the AR from SV9. In the Japanese TCG, it has moved through nine years of print eras — from an early SM promo card through two 2017 GX prints and on into the current Scarlet & Violet lineup — giving collectors eight confirmed printings to track.
We ship Japanese sealed product and singles out of Tokyo. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
Unlike headline chase cards that get one iconic printing and a decade of speculation, Lycanroc’s card history is a steady drip — one or two appearances per era, spread across promos, GX cards, a V card, and now an ex card. That makes it a good line to collect by era rather than by single card: if your goal is a complete run through Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield, and Scarlet & Violet, Lycanroc gives you a representative from each without requiring a five-figure chase card.
Eight Lycanroc printings are confirmed across Japanese sets from SM-P (circa 2016–2017) through SV9 Battle Partners (2025). Two are GX cards — a Midday-form RR from SM2p and a Midnight-form RR from SM2L — and both are the only prints where the form is explicitly confirmed by the card itself.

Lycanroc Full Art Cards: Japanese SR and AR Prints
Collectors use “full art” for prints whose artwork fills the whole card face. Japanese sets do not print those words: the official card database prints only a rarity code, and the full-art treatments are the SR (full-art ex and Supporter cards), SAR (Special Art Rare), AR (Art Rare), CHR / CSR (Character Rare) and the gold UR and rainbow HR printings.
| Carta | Set mark · number | Rarity | Our listing |

Two things stand out across the list. First, Lycanroc hasn’t had a long gap between reprints — something from the line has appeared in a Japanese set roughly every two to three years since 2017. Second, only two of the eight cards explicitly confirm which of Lycanroc’s game forms they depict, and both are the 2017 GX pair.
The Early Years: SM-P Promo and the 2017 GX Pair
Lycanroc’s earliest confirmed Japanese TCG appearance is the SM-P promo, card 103, tied to the Rockruff Full Power Deck period of the early Sun & Moon promo run.

The SM-P promo sits right at the start of the Sun & Moon promo run, in the same numbering block that carried early Rockruff-and-Lycanroc tie-in cards to Japanese players and store events. Promo-only cards from this window were not part of retail booster packs, so they circulate through secondary trades rather than fresh boxes — it isn’t one you’ll pull from a sealed booster box.
Two Lycanroc GX cards followed within a month of each other in early 2017, and they’re the only two printings in this list where the form is stated on the card itself:
The Midnight form GX, from Alolan Moonlight (SM2L, released March 17, 2017), carries an ability whose Japanese name translates to “Bloody Eye” and a GX attack translating to “Death Rogue GX.” The set itself is themed around Lycanroc’s darker, nocturnal form, and this card is the version most associated with that half of the set’s identity. The Midday form GX followed a month later in Let’s Face New Trials (SM2p, released April 21, 2017) — a set built around the opposite, daylight side of the same evolutionary line.
Both are RR-rarity cards from the same short window in Lycanroc’s card history, and together they’re the clearest reference point for identifying which form a given Lycanroc card depicts — every other printing on this list doesn’t specify. If you’re trying to build a “both forms” pair for a display, these two GX cards are the only ones in the entire eight-card run where you can say with certainty which form you’re holding.
Outside of the SM2L and SM2p GX pair, the card text does not state which game form a Lycanroc print depicts. If you’re trying to match a specific form, these two GX cards are the reliable reference point.
The Sword & Shield Era: 2020–2021 Prints
After a gap of a few years, Lycanroc returned across three Sword & Shield-era Japanese sets in quick succession:
Legendary Heartbeat (S3a, released July 10, 2020) gave Lycanroc a standard uncommon print at 041/076 — a straightforward reprint of the base-stage line with no special mechanics attached, the kind of card that shows up as a playable rather than a display piece. Silvery Lance (S6H, 2021) followed as a high-class pack print at 042/070 R, carrying an attack whose Japanese name translates to “Rogue Fang.”
The standout of the three is Skyscraping Perfection (S7D, 2021), which upgraded Lycanroc to a full V card at 071/067 SR, with an attack translating to “Crash Fang” dealing 200 damage. Moving from a basic-stage card to a V card is a meaningful step up in card frame and finish, and it’s the point in Lycanroc’s print history where the line first got the oversized-artwork V treatment rather than the more compact GX layout used in 2017.
Across these three sets, the pattern is a gradual escalation: uncommon, to regular rare, to SR-rarity V card, all inside about a year of Japanese releases.
For Silvery Lance, the set’s sealed option is the S6H Silvery Lance Booster Box.
The Modern Era: Scarlet & Violet Prints
Lycanroc’s Triplet Beat and Battle Partners printings sit in the Scarlet & Violet card pool.

Triplet Beat (SV1a, released March 10, 2023) brought Lycanroc into the ex era at 090/073 SR. Moving a Pokemon into the ex mechanic is generally a sign it’s being positioned as a more relevant card within the set’s design, and the SR-rarity slot puts it above the base rarity floor without pushing it into the same territory as the set’s headline secret rares. The set’s sealed box is the SV1A Triplet Beat Booster Box; browse the full set on our Triplet Beat (SV1a) complete card list and the SV1a set hub.

The SV9 print is Battle Partners (SV9, released January 24, 2025), an AR-rarity card at 107/100 illustrated by GIDORA. AR (Art Rare) is a full-art illustration tier used in current-era Japanese sets. The set’s sealed box is the SV9 Battle Partners Booster Box. For the 30th Celebration print, see our Lycanroc AR 30th Celebration card guide.
