Search „Espeon VMAX“ and most people assume it’s a booster pull from S6a Eevee Heroes, sitting alongside Leafeon VMAX and Umbreon VMAX in the same pack odds. It isn’t. Espeon VMAX was never printed in the S6a main set at all — its only special-art Japanese release is a single promo, exclusive to one boxed product, and everything else people find under „Espeon VMAX“ turns out to be a different card wearing a similar name.
This guide sorts out exactly which Espeon VMAX cards exist, where each one actually comes from, and what the chase promo is asking right now — including a graded copy we currently have listed below the center of the outside asking range.
Part of the confusion comes from how the rest of the S6a Eeveelution family behaves. Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon, and Umbreon all got proper VMAX slots inside the S6a booster set, so it’s a reasonable assumption that Espeon and the other three „starter-trio“ Eeveelutions (Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon) followed the same pattern. They didn’t. Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, and a non-special-art Espeon VMAX instead share a single four-card random promo pool from a separate boxed product, the Eevee Heroes VMAX Special Set. Espeon’s special-art version is a different card entirely — a guaranteed insert in a second, separate boxed product — and it’s the one everyone is actually searching for.
Espeon VMAX has five printings total and no main-set S6a Eevee Heroes print exists. The chase is the special-art promo 189/S-P, exclusive to the「イーブイヒーローズ イーブイズセット」(Eevee Heroes „Eevee’s Set“) boxed product from May 28, 2021, illustrated by Kouki Saitou. We currently have a PSA10 189/S-P listed at ¥86,351 (~$587) — below the ¥123,000–¥200,000 (~$837–$1,361) center of recent snkrdunk PSA10 asking prices.
Prices for our own listings are current or recent asking prices as of August 2026, converted at ¥147/USD, rounded to the nearest dollar. Outside secondary-market figures from snkrdunk are explicitly marked as asking prices, not confirmed sale prices.
Every Espeon VMAX Printing
Five printings exist across Japanese and English releases, all dated to 2021, as catalogued by Bulbapedia and Limitless TCG:
| Set (JP / EN) | Code | Number | Rarity | Year | Artist |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| プロモ「イーブイズセット」封入 / S-P Promo (Eevee’s Set exclusive) | S-P | 189/S-P | Promo (Special Art) | 2021 | Kouki Saitou |
| VMAXスペシャルセット / Eevee Heroes VMAX Special Set | SP4 | 004/004 | Promo (full-art VMAX promo) | 2021 | 5ban Graphics |
| スタートデッキ100 / Start Deck 100 | SI | 173/414 | Non-holo regular | 2021 | unconfirmed for this print |
| — / Evolving Skies | EVS | 065/203 | Rare VMAX | 2021 | 5ban Graphics |
| — / Fusion Strike | FST | 270/264 | Alternate Art Secret | 2021 | Kouki Saitou |
Two of these are worth flagging by name. The FST 270/264 alternate art is the English release of the same Kouki Saitou artwork used on the Japanese 189/S-P promo — they’re the same illustration in different languages, not two separate arts. And the EVS 065/203 Evolving Skies print is the English counterpart to a card that, in Japan, only appeared as a special-set promo (SP4 004/004) rather than a numbered booster-set VMAX.
Correcting the Assumption: No S6a Main-Set Print
This is the detail that trips up most searches for this card. Bulbapedia’s S6a Eevee Heroes set list includes Espeon V in three printings — 035/069 RR, 080/069 SR, and 081/069 SR — but no Espeon VMAX. The Eeveelution VMAX cards that shipped inside S6a boosters are Leafeon VMAX, Glaceon VMAX, Sylveon VMAX, and Umbreon VMAX only. Espeon VMAX simply isn’t one of them.
There’s also no „special art“ S6a print of Espeon VMAX and no VMAX Climax (S8b) print — Espeon VMAX doesn’t appear anywhere in that set either. The card’s only special-art Japanese release is the 189/S-P promo covered below, which came bundled with S6a product rather than printed inside it.
Why does this matter beyond trivia? Distribution. Booster-set VMAX cards like Leafeon VMAX or Umbreon VMAX came from open pack odds across however many boxes were opened. The 189/S-P promo didn’t — every copy came from a single boxed product with a fixed, one-per-box insert rate, a different distribution path than a booster pull.

The Chase: 189/S-P Special Art Promo
The card most collectors mean when they say „Espeon VMAX“ is the promo numbered 189/S-P — a special-art (SA) full-art treatment illustrated by Kouki Saitou, the same artist behind the Fusion Strike alternate-art release in English. It was not a random pack pull. It shipped as a fixed insert exclusively in「イーブイヒーローズ イーブイズセット」(Eevee Heroes „Eevee’s Set“ / Eeveelutions Set), a boxed product released May 28, 2021 alongside the S6a booster set itself — every copy of that box included one.
A separate, related product from the same window is the Eevee Heroes VMAX Special Set (8 S6a packs plus a VMAX promo pack), which contained one random VMAX promo out of four possibilities: Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, or Espeon VMAX, each paired with a matching mirror-foil Energy card. That’s the SP4 004/004 promo listed in the table above — a different, non-special-art printing from the guaranteed 189/S-P insert.
Among collectors, the 189/S-P (JP) / FST 270 (EN) alt art is one of the Eevee Heroes cycle’s Kouki Saitou special-art prints. If you’re comparing it against Umbreon VMAX SA („Moonbreon“), our Moonbreon (Umbreon VMAX) value guide covers every printing of that card in the same format as this page.
If your card reads „S-P“ with the number 189 in the corner, and the artwork is the full special-art illustration rather than a standard VMAX frame, you have the chase promo. If it instead reads „SP4“ with 004/004, you have the separate VMAX Special Set promo — an official printing, just a different and less scarce one.
What Actually Shipped in S6a’s Eeveelution Lineup
Since Espeon VMAX itself has no S6a booster print, it’s worth seeing what the set that housed its promo actually contains. S6a Eevee Heroes is built around the other Eeveelutions, several of which get multiple printings within the base 069-card set:
Leafeon and Flareon each appear twice in the numbering above 069, which is the pattern S6a uses for its higher-rarity slots. Vaporeon carries the same pattern:
Vaporeon also carries a VMAX version out of the same VMAX Special Set promo pool described above, and Pinsir shows up as one of the non-Eeveelution rares in the S6a base numbering — a reminder that the set is built around the broader Eeveelutions family, not a single card. For the complete base-set breakdown and pull-rate data, see our Eevee Heroes Eeveelutions set guide, S6a card list & box guide, and S6a pull rates & best cards pages.
Espeon V vs. Espeon VMAX: Don’t Mix Them Up
Because Espeon VMAX has no S6a booster print, the Espeon cards people actually pull from S6a packs are Espeon V — a different card, one evolutionary stage below VMAX. S6a’s Espeon V comes in three printings (035/069 RR, 080/069 SR, and 081/069 SR), and we carry graded copies of the two SR versions:
- PSA10 Espeon V SR [S6a 081/069, Special Art] — recently listed at ¥55,464 (~$377) (Update: derzeit ausverkauft — Nachschub über Quick Order anfragen). Currently out of stock; restock requests can be placed via Schnellbestellung.
- PSA10 Espeon V SR [S6a 080/069] — currently listed at ¥10,794 (~$73) (Update: derzeit ausverkauft — Nachschub über Quick Order anfragen).
If a listing simply says „Espeon“ with a price in the low thousands of yen and a card number in the 069 range, it’s almost certainly one of these V printings, not the VMAX. Confirm the card says „V“ versus „VMAX“ in the bottom-right stage marker before you buy — the two are easy to conflate by name alone, and their price levels don’t overlap.
Lined up together, our three current PSA10 Espeon listings span three different tiers of scarcity and price: the 080/069 SR at ¥10,794 (~$73) (Update: derzeit ausverkauft — Nachschub über Quick Order anfragen) is the most accessible; the special-art 081/069 SR at ¥55,464 (~$377) (Update: derzeit ausverkauft — Nachschub über Quick Order anfragen) sits in the middle; and the 189/S-P VMAX promo at ¥86,351 (~$587) is the top of the current lineup. In every case, PSA independently determines authenticity and grade — the PSA10 label reflects PSA’s own assessment of the individual submitted card, not a promise from us.
What 189/S-P Is Asking Right Now
We currently have a PSA10 189/S-P listed at ¥86,351 (~$587).
On snkrdunk, five PSA10 189/S-P listings were observed spanning ¥123,000 to ¥510,000 as asking prices, not confirmed sales. Several of those listings carried older listing IDs that suggest stale, unsold asks rather than current pricing; the freshest listing observed sat at ¥128,000. Treating the more recent listings as the relevant band, the center of the current PSA10 asking range works out to roughly ¥123,000–¥200,000 (~$837–$1,361) — a range our own listing currently sits below.
Un-graded raw copies showed a wider spread of asking prices, roughly ¥77,777 to ¥248,000 across five listings, but all of those carried older listing IDs as well, so we’re presenting that figure as reference context only, not as a current-market read. There was also a single-listing raw ask as low as ¥42,000, but with only one seller at that figure it isn’t a usable market anchor on its own — we’re noting it exists rather than treating it as representative.
Put plainly: the outside asking-price data points toward roughly ¥123,000–¥200,000 for a PSA10 189/S-P as of this writing, and our own PSA10 listing sits meaningfully under that band. That doesn’t guarantee our price will stay there, and it isn’t a claim about future demand — it’s simply where our current listing sits relative to the asking prices we observed elsewhere.
Every snkrdunk figure above is a seller’s listed asking price, not a completed sale. Treat ranges as a spread of what sellers are currently requesting, not a guaranteed price you’ll pay or receive.
How to Get One
The 189/S-P promo was never a booster pull — it came bundled with the Eevee Heroes Eevee’s Set box back in 2021, so by 2026 it circulates almost entirely as a single, whether raw or graded. Two practical paths:
- Buy the graded copy directly. Our PSA10 189/S-P is currently listed at ¥86,351 (~$587) — a fixed price and a known grade rather than a live auction.
- Search for raw copies or other printings via Quick Order. For the SP4 004/004 promo, the EN Fusion Strike alt art, or a raw 189/S-P, our Quick Order page is the fastest way to check availability.
If you’re also after related product from the same era — like the 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set (Espeon & Umbreon), a later product pairing the same two Eeveelutions — that guide covers its own separate printings.
One more note on condition: the 189/S-P promo’s full-art surface, like most special-art SWSH-era promos, shows edge and surface wear readily on raw copies. If you’re deciding between a raw copy at a lower price and a graded PSA10, remember you’re comparing two different things — an unverified condition against a third-party-assessed one — not simply a price difference on the same product.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is Espeon VMAX in the S6a Eevee Heroes booster set?
No. Bulbapedia’s S6a Eevee Heroes set list includes Espeon V in three printings but no Espeon VMAX. The Eeveelution VMAX cards printed inside S6a boosters are Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon, and Umbreon VMAX only. Espeon VMAX’s only special-art Japanese release is the 189/S-P promo, which shipped as a bundled insert rather than a booster pull.
Which Espeon VMAX card is the chase printing?
The special-art promo numbered 189/S-P, illustrated by Kouki Saitou and exclusive to the「イーブイヒーローズ イーブイズセット」(Eevee Heroes „Eevee’s Set“) boxed product released May 28, 2021. We currently have a PSA10 copy listed at ¥86,351 (about $587).
What’s the difference between Espeon V and Espeon VMAX?
Espeon V is a separate, lower evolutionary-stage card that does have three S6a printings (035/069 RR, 080/069 SR, 081/069 SR). Espeon VMAX has no S6a booster print at all — its printings are the 189/S-P promo, the SP4 004/004 VMAX Special Set promo, Start Deck 100, and the English Evolving Skies and Fusion Strike releases. Check whether the card’s stage marker reads „V“ or „VMAX“ before comparing prices.
What is the SP4 004/004 promo, and is it different from 189/S-P?
Yes, it’s a separate printing. SP4 004/004 came from the Eevee Heroes VMAX Special Set, a product containing one random VMAX promo out of four possibilities (Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, or Espeon VMAX). The 189/S-P special-art promo, by contrast, was a guaranteed insert in every copy of the separate Eevee’s Set box.
Where can I buy Espeon VMAX cards from Japan?
We ship graded and raw Japanese Espeon singles from Tokyo with tracked delivery. Our PSA10 189/S-P promo is currently listed on our product page, and our Quick Order page covers other printings and raw copies as availability allows.
