The Pokemon First Partner Illustration Collection is sold in three series, and each box holds one pack of three illustration rare-style promos, two Pokemon TCG booster packs and a sticker sheet, according to the official pokemon.com product pages. The launch dates printed there are March 20, 2026 for Series 1, June 19, 2026 for Series 2 and August 7, 2026 for Series 3.
Japan has no box of that name. Its counterparts are two separate products: the MEGA Starter Set ex decks, which the official Japanese page prices at ¥1,800 with a release of July 31, 2026, and the 30th CELEBRATION Card Set series, nine sets at ¥1,200 each with a release of October 16, 2026. Bulbapedia reports that the Japanese twins of all 27 English promos sit in that card set series.
We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo. Prices quoted for our listings are as of October 2, 2026, with USD converted at ¥154/USD, approximate.
Each English series is a collection box with a 3-of-9 promo pack; the Japanese Starter Set ex is a different class of product, a ready-to-play 60-card deck with no booster pack. All 27 promos (MEP 037 to 063) are credited to Saboteri on Limitless TCG, and none has an official Japanese print yet. The Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex starter deck is offered at ¥1,901 (~$12).
Launch dates and box contents come from the official pokemon.com pages, Japanese product details from pokemon-card.com and the 30th anniversary site, and promo numbers from Limitless TCG and Bulbapedia.
What the First Partner Illustration Collection Contains
Every official product page opens with the idea that a Trainer’s journey begins with a first partner, and each one describes the same box: a booster pack containing three of nine illustration rare-style promo cards of beloved first partner Pokemon, two more Pokemon TCG booster packs and a sticker sheet featuring first partner Pokemon friends. The includes line on all three pages reads 1 Pokemon TCG pack containing 3 of 9 promo cards, 2 Pokemon TCG booster packs and 1 sticker sheet. The pages say the collections are sold at the Pokemon Center and where Pokemon TCG products are sold.
| Artikel | What the official pages state |
|---|---|
| Product line | Pokemon TCG: First Partner Illustration Collection, Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3 |
| Promo pack | One pack holding 3 of 9 illustration rare-style promo cards |
| Booster packs | Two Pokemon TCG booster packs |
| Extra | One sticker sheet featuring first partner Pokemon |
| Preis | No MSRP on any of the three pages |
| Promo names and numbers | Not given on the pages |
| Pokemon TCG Live code card | Nothing listed |
The wording matters for a buyer comparing formats. The three promos in a box come from a pack, so the trio is drawn from nine candidates for that series. Which two expansions the booster packs come from is a separate question the official pages do not answer; Bulbapedia’s merchandise page, as of October 2, 2026, says the packs were typically one each from two Mega Evolution Series sets, and that pairing is reported by Bulbapedia, not stated by the publisher.
Series 1, 2 and 3: Launch Dates, Regions and Promo Numbers
The three series split nine regions into three groups. Each official page names three regions, and each region contributes three starter Pokemon: one Grass, one Fire and one Water type. That is how nine promos per series add up to 27 cards in total.
| Series | Launch (official) | Regions (official) | MEP promo numbers | Booster packs, typically (Bulbapedia, reported) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series 1 | March 20, 2026 | Kanto, Sinnoh, Alola | 037 to 045 | One Mega Evolution and one Phantasmal Flames |
| Series 2 | June 19, 2026 | Johto, Unova, Galar | 046 to 054 | One Perfect Order and one Chaos Rising |
| Series 3 | August 7, 2026 | Hoenn, Kalos, Paldea | 055 to 063 | One Chaos Rising and one Pitch Black |
The official Series 3 page prints its launch as August 07, 2026. Bulbapedia says the product continued the line of 30th anniversary releases and, for Series 3, adds that the mainland China release fell on the same date. Neither fact changes what the English box contains.
Limitless TCG (October 2, 2026) files all 27 promos in its Mega Promos (MEP) list, regulation mark J, each a Basic Pokemon with Saboteri as the illustrator. Bulbapedia describes them as Holofoil Full Art illustration rare-style cards that carry the Pokemon 30th Anniversary logo.
The 27 Promo Cards: MEP 037 to 063
The promo list is regular enough to set out by region. Each row gives the three cards of one region in Grass, Fire and Water order, with the MEP number of each as Limitless TCG prints it.
| Series | Region | Grass | Fire | Water |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series 1 | Kanto | Bulbasaur (MEP 037) | Charmander (MEP 038) | Squirtle (MEP 039) |
| Series 1 | Sinnoh | Turtwig (MEP 040) | Chimchar (MEP 041) | Piplup (MEP 042) |
| Series 1 | Alola | Rowlet (MEP 043) | Litten (MEP 044) | Popplio (MEP 045) |
| Series 2 | Johto | Chikorita (MEP 046) | Cyndaquil (MEP 047) | Totodile (MEP 048) |
| Series 2 | Unova | Snivy (MEP 049) | Tepig (MEP 050) | Oshawott (MEP 051) |
| Series 2 | Galar | Grookey (MEP 052) | Scorbunny (MEP 053) | Sobble (MEP 054) |
| Series 3 | Hoenn | Treecko (MEP 055) | Torchic (MEP 056) | Mudkip (MEP 057) |
| Series 3 | Kalos | Chespin (MEP 058) | Fennekin (MEP 059) | Froakie (MEP 060) |
| Series 3 | Paldea | Sprigatito (MEP 061) | Fuecoco (MEP 062) | Quaxly (MEP 063) |
Hit points run from 60 to 90 across the 27 cards. Turtwig and Fuecoco carry 90 HP, Chimchar, Snivy and Torchic carry 60, and most of the rest sit at 70 or 80. Limitless lists no other print of any of the 27 cards, English or Japanese, as of October 2, 2026.
The sticker sheet and the two booster packs are the other parts of the box, but the promos are what the line is built around, and they are why the Japanese side matters. Japan has not released these cards under the First Partner name. Bulbapedia’s card pages say the Japanese release is the 30th CELEBRATION Card Set.
The English Collection Next to the Japanese Starter Set ex and 30th Card Set
Each official page prints a different set of fields for its product.
| Spec | First Partner Illustration Collection (English) | MEGA Starter Set ex (Japanese) | 30th CELEBRATION Card Set (Japanese) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Release (official) | March 20, June 19 and August 7, 2026 | July 31, 2026 | October 16, 2026 |
| Price (official) | No MSRP on the pokemon.com pages | ¥1,800, tax included | ¥1,200, tax included |
| Core content | One 3-of-9 promo pack, two booster packs, one sticker sheet | One 60-card deck | Three promo cards (kira), two booster packs, one paper card stand for three cards |
| Booster packs | Two | None | Two packs of 30th CELEBRATION |
| Promo cards | Three of nine, drawn from a pack | None printed on the page | Three fixed cards, named on the box |
| Play extras | Sticker sheet | Damage counter and marker sheet, Pokemon coin, playmat, player’s guide, rules booklet | Card stand |
| Two decks needed to play | Not applicable | Yes, the page says a match needs two decks | Not applicable |
The two Japanese products cover different parts of the English box. The Starter Set ex is a constructed deck, with duplicates of the same card inside, built for a first match. The 30th CELEBRATION Card Set pairs three fixed promo cards with two booster packs and a stand, while the English collection pairs a random 3-of-9 promo pack with two booster packs and a sticker sheet.
The Japanese Starter Set ex Decks
The official pokemon-card.com page for MEGA Starter Set ex lists three products, each at ¥1,800 with tax and released on Friday, July 31, 2026. Jede Box enthält one 60-card deck, one damage counter and marker sheet, one Pokemon coin, one playmat, one player’s guide and one rules booklet. The page notes that decks of this kind repeat the same card several times, and that two decks are needed to play.
Only one of the three decks overlaps the English line. Sprigatito is the Paldea first partner and appears in the English collection as MEP 061; Eevee and Zorua are not among the 27 promo Pokemon. The decks are therefore siblings of a first partner product rather than versions of it.
| Deck | Official theme text (summarised) | Our listing | SNKRDUNK deck ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex | A deck that combines Grass-type Pokemon | ¥1,901 (~$12) | Lowest ask on SNKRDUNK, October 2, 2026: ¥1,400 (~$9) |
| Zorua & Zoroark ex | A deck of Darkness-type Pokemon that attacks with Zoroark ex | ¥1,901 (~$12) | Lowest ask on SNKRDUNK, October 2, 2026: ¥1,800 (~$12) |
| Eevee ex | A deck that attaches Energy to Eevee ex and Lightning-type Pokemon | ¥2,956 (~$19) | Lowest ask on SNKRDUNK, October 2, 2026: ¥2,089 (~$14) |
SNKRDUNK figures are asking prices from its product pages, not sales, and each ask changes. Our listings are separate products with their own terms.

SNKRDUNK also lists three AR-labelled cards under titles that name the starter decks. Its listing for Eevee is titled “AR仕様 [MEE 020/019]”, Zorua “AR仕様 [MEZ 020/019]” and Sprigatito “AR仕様 [MEM 018/017]”. Those codes are SNKRDUNK’s naming and are not confirmed.
| SNKRDUNK listing title | Lowest ask on SNKRDUNK, October 2, 2026 |
|---|---|
The Japanese 30th CELEBRATION Card Set Series
The official 30th anniversary site describes the series as card sets celebrating the Pokemon Card Game’s 30th anniversary, with full-illustration cards of the first partner Pokemon from the nine regions of the main series, plus two packs of the 30th CELEBRATION expansion and a card stand. Each of the nine products is priced at ¥1,200 with tax and releases on Friday, October 16, 2026.
The page prints each product as three kira promo cards (one of each named Pokemon), two packs of the expansion and one paper card stand for three cards. It also notes that every expansion pack holds six randomly inserted cards. The expansion itself, the 30th CELEBRATION booster (M6a), has its own official page: released Wednesday, September 16, 2026, ¥360 per pack, six kira cards each.
| Region | Japanese product trio (official) | English series that carries the same Pokemon |
|---|---|---|
The format difference is the useful part. An English box delivers three promos at random out of nine; a Japanese set names its three promos on the box. A collector after one specific Pokemon in Japan buys the set that names it, while an English buyer opens a series box and finds out which three arrived.

The Japanese promo numbers are where sources diverge. The official page prints no card numbers. Bulbapedia’s card pages (October 2, 2026) pair each English promo with an M-P number from 101 to 127, following the order of the nine Japanese trios rather than the order of the English series. That numbering is reported by Bulbapedia, not published by the official site.
| English series | MEP | Pokemon | Japanese number (Bulbapedia, reported) | Japanese product trio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series 1 | 037 | Bulbasaur | 101/M-P | Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle |

As of October 2, 2026, the official Pokemon Card Game database has no row for any of the 27 names that belongs to this card set, and Limitless TCG’s Japanese M-P list has no row numbered 101 to 129. An official image, illustrator credit or rarity label for the Japanese prints is therefore not available, and the English promos‘ Saboteri credit cannot be carried over to them.
Older Japanese M-P Promos That Share the Names
The official Japanese database holds older M-P promos under several first partner names, and they can be mistaken for the Japanese First Partner cards. They are separate cards with their own numbers and illustrators. The database shows no rarity icon on any of them.
| Karte | Number | Illustrator (official database) | Type and HP |
|---|---|---|---|
| ニャオハ (Sprigatito) | 017/M-P | Mina Nakai | Basic, Grass, 60 HP |
| ホゲータ (Fuecoco) | 018/M-P | Tomomi Ozaki | Basic, Fire, 80 HP |
| クワッス (Quaxly) | 019/M-P | Saboteri | Basic, Water, 60 HP |
| チコリータ (Chikorita) | 001/M-P | Makura Tami | Basic, Grass, 70 HP |

Quaxly 019/M-P is credited to Saboteri, the same illustrator credit as English MEP 063. A shared credit does not make the cards the same print: Bulbapedia numbers the First Partner Quaxly as 127/M-P, so 019/M-P is a different card. The same rule applies to the other three rows, which carry different illustrators from the English promos.
A buyer who searches by Pokemon name and finds an M-P Sprigatito, Fuecoco or Quaxly should read the number before assuming it is the Japanese twin of a First Partner promo. Numbers 017, 018 and 019 and 001 are earlier cards; the cards Bulbapedia assigns to the First Partner line are numbered from 101 to 127.

Buying Checklist: English Collection or Japanese Starter Product
The choice between the English collection and its Japanese counterparts is a choice between three different jobs.
- Decide whether you want a deck or promos. The Starter Set ex is a playable 60-card deck with no booster pack. The card set is promos and packs. The English collection is promos, boosters and stickers in one box.
- Read the series, not just the name. A Kanto, Sinnoh or Alola Pokemon sits in Series 1, Johto, Unova or Galar in Series 2, and Hoenn, Kalos or Paldea in Series 3.
- Check the number on any M-P card. The cards Bulbapedia assigns to the First Partner line are 101 to 127; 017, 018, 019 and 001 are older promos.
- Treat Japanese promo numbers as reported. They come from Bulbapedia’s card pages (October 2, 2026).
- Use dated asks. A SNKRDUNK figure is an asking price on one day. Treat each as a reference point and look at the date next to it.
- Match the product to the price. Compare a deck against a deck: the three Starter Set ex products carry different prices, and the Eevee ex deck differs from the other two.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
What is in the First Partner Illustration Collection?
Each box holds one pack containing three of nine illustration rare-style promo cards, two Pokemon TCG booster packs and one sticker sheet, according to the official pokemon.com pages. The pages name the three regions per series but do not list the promo cards or an MSRP.
When did the First Partner Illustration Collection series launch?
The official pokemon.com pages print March 20, 2026 for Series 1, June 19, 2026 for Series 2 and August 07, 2026 for Series 3. Series 1 covers Kanto, Sinnoh and Alola, Series 2 covers Johto, Unova and Galar, and Series 3 covers Hoenn, Kalos and Paldea.
How many promo cards are in the First Partner Illustration Collection?
There are 27 promos across the three series, nine per series, numbered MEP 037 to 063. Jede Box enthält three of its series‘ nine. Limitless TCG (October 2, 2026) credits all 27 to the illustrator Saboteri and lists no other print of any of them.
How much does the First Partner Illustration Collection cost?
The official pokemon.com pages print no MSRP, so the MSRP is not confirmed. The Japanese counterparts do have official prices: ¥1,800 for each Starter Set ex deck and ¥1,200 for each 30th CELEBRATION Card Set, both tax included on the official Japanese pages.
Is the Japanese Starter Set ex the same as the First Partner Illustration Collection?
No. The official page describes three constructed decks of 60 cards with a playmat, coin and guides, and no booster pack or promo pack. The English collection is a promo pack plus two booster packs and stickers. Only Sprigatito appears in both lines, and the products are different classes.
Does Japan have a First Partner promo set?
The official 30th anniversary site lists nine 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets with three fixed kira promos each, two expansion packs and a card stand, at ¥1,200 with a release of October 16, 2026. Bulbapedia reports that these contain the Japanese twins of the 27 English promos.
What Japanese card numbers match the First Partner promos?
Bulbapedia (October 2, 2026) pairs MEP 037 to 063 with 101/M-P to 127/M-P, in the order of the nine Japanese trios. That is reported, not official: the 30th site prints no numbers and the official database has no rows for them as of October 2, 2026.
Can I buy a Japanese Starter Set ex from outside Japan?
We ship Japanese sealed product from Tokyo. The Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex deck is currently listed at ¥1,901 (~$12), and the Zorua & Zoroark ex and Eevee ex decks are separate listings. Requests for anything not listed go through Schnellbestellung.
