Froslass Cards Guide: Every Printing 2021–25

Froslass Cards Guide: Every Printing 2021–25

Froslass (ユキメノコ) has quietly built one of the more interesting card runs in the modern Japanese TCG. A single Rare in 2021. A Double Rare ex form in 2023. A Rare-plus-Art-Rare pair in 2024. And now, in the newest 2025 set, its first Mega evolution. Five printings in under five years is a real progression, not a one-off reprint pattern.

This guide lines up every Froslass printing we’ve verified against Limitless TCG’s individual Japanese card pages, in release order, so you can tell exactly which card you’re holding — and which set to look in if you want to pull one yourself.

None of the five singles are currently in our own stock, so this is primarily an identification and sourcing guide: what each card looks like, what set it came from, and which sealed booster boxes currently carry it. Restock requests for the singles themselves go through our Quick Order page, covered in the collecting section below.

Why bother sorting all this out? Because Froslass cards from different eras can look deceptively similar in a mixed lot — a plain Rare, a Double Rare ex, and an Art Rare can all show up in the same binder page, and only the number-and-rarity combination on the card itself tells you which one you actually have. That’s the whole point of the table and the rarity-code explainer below: give you a way to check a card against a verified reference rather than guess from memory.

Key Takeaway

Five verified Froslass printings span four sets from April 2021 to November 2025: a base Rare in S6H Silver Lance, a Froslass ex Double Rare in SV3a Raging Surf, a Rare/Art Rare pair in SV6 Mask of Change, and a Mega Froslass ex Double Rare in M2a Mega Dream ex. Booster boxes for all four sets are currently listed in our shop.

Every Verified Froslass Card

In release order, here is every Froslass printing we’ve confirmed for the Japanese TCG:

Karte Set Release Number Rarity
Froslass S6H Silver Lance 2021-04-23 021/070 R
Froslass ex SV3a Raging Surf 2023-09-22 001/062 RR
Froslass SV6 Mask of Change 2024-04-26 033/101 R
Froslass SV6 Mask of Change 2024-04-26 104/101 AR
Mega Froslass ex M2a Mega Dream ex 2025-11-28 036/193* RR

*The M2a card number is as listed by Bulbapedia; Limitless TCG’s individual page confirms the card’s name and rarity but does not display a number directly, so we flag this one figure separately from the others rather than treat it as fully cross-verified.

Four different sets, four years, and a clean progression from a single Rare print to a full ex line and now a Mega evolution. The sections below take each printing in turn, followed by a budget breakdown and a practical collecting plan.

Reading the Rarity Codes

Before diving into each card, it helps to know what the rarity abbreviations in the table above actually mean, since they’re what separates a common set-filler print from a chase card:

  • R (Rare) — a standard holo-foil rarity tier, one step above Uncommon. This is where the 2021 Silver Lance Froslass and the base Mask of Change Froslass sit.
  • RR (Double Rare) — reserved for ex-form Pokemon in the Scarlet & Violet era. Both Froslass ex and Mega Froslass ex carry this rarity.
  • AR (Art Rare) — an alternate full-art illustration of a card that also exists at a lower rarity in the same set, typically numbered above the set’s stated card count. The 104/101 Froslass in a 101-card base set (Mask of Change) is a textbook example.

Card numbers follow a similar logic: the number before the slash is the card’s position, and the number after the slash is the set’s base card count. When you see a number higher than the total (like 104/101), you’re looking at a secret or alternate-art slot rather than a print from the main set list.

2021: The Silver Lance Original

Froslass 021/070 R S6H Silver Lance
Froslass 021/070 R — S6H Silver Lance

Froslass’s earliest verified Japanese printing in this guide comes from S6H Silver Lance, an 83-card set released on April 23, 2021. It’s card 021/070, listed at Rare rarity — a straightforward non-ex, non-V print from the middle of the Sword & Shield era, well before Froslass picked up any ex or Mega treatment.

Because it’s a base Rare rather than a secret or alternate-art slot, this is the most accessible of the five printings to identify: no full-art border, no number past the set count, just the standard card frame with a Rare-tier holo pattern. If you’re building a „one of each printing“ collection, this is the natural starting point chronologically.

Silver Lance sealed booster boxes remain currently listed at ¥18,900 (~$119), so if you want to try pulling this printing yourself rather than sourcing a single, that’s the route.

2023: Froslass ex in Raging Surf

Froslass ex 001/062 RR SV3a Raging Surf
Froslass ex 001/062 RR — SV3a Raging Surf

Froslass’s first ex form arrived in SV3a Raging Surf, a 92-card set released September 22, 2023. Froslass ex, card 001/062, opens the set at Double Rare rarity — literally the number-one slot in the printing, ahead of every other card in the set’s base numbering.

An ex designation means the card is treated as a marquee Pokemon within the set rather than a filler print, which is why it carries the Double Rare tier instead of a plain Rare. This is also the point where Froslass shifted from a supporting-cast print to a set-defining card for the first time in the sets we’ve verified.

Raging Surf booster boxes are currently listed from ¥12,480 to ¥15,810 (~$78–$99) depending on the listing.

2024: The Mask of Change Pair

SV6 — officially named Mask of Change by Limitless TCG (also referenced in some listings under the Japanese-derived name Transformation Mask) — released April 26, 2024 with 133 cards, and gave Froslass two printings in the same set: a base Rare and a full Art Rare of the identical card.

Froslass 033/101 R SV6 Mask of Change

Froslass 033/101 R (Mask of Change)

Froslass 104/101 AR SV6 Mask of Change

Froslass 104/101 AR (Mask of Change)

The 033/101 Rare is the standard set print, sitting comfortably within the set’s stated 101-card base count. The 104/101 Art Rare is the alternate-art version of that same card, numbered past the base count — exactly the pattern described in the rarity-codes section above. Side by side, they’re a useful pair for seeing how the same character gets two very different treatments within one release.

Because both printings come from the same 133-card set, a single Mask of Change box gives you a shot at either or both without needing to source from two different products.

Mask of Change booster boxes are currently listed at ¥15,810 (~$99).

2025: Mega Froslass ex in Mega Dream ex

Mega Froslass ex RR M2a Mega Dream ex
Mega Froslass ex, RR — M2a Mega Dream ex

Froslass’s newest printing is also its first Mega evolution: Mega Froslass ex, released November 28, 2025 in M2a Mega Dream ex at Double Rare rarity. This is the card that turns a four-year, four-set run into an ongoing story rather than a closed chapter — the Mega era is the current frontier of the Japanese TCG, and Froslass now has a foothold in it.

Bulbapedia lists the card as number 036/193; Limitless TCG’s individual page confirms the name and rarity but doesn’t display the number field, so we’re noting that one detail separately rather than treating it as fully cross-verified the way the other four printings are.

Froslass ex vs. Mega Froslass ex: What’s the Difference

Both of Froslass’s marquee cards — the 2023 Froslass ex from Raging Surf and the 2025 Mega Froslass ex from Mega Dream ex — sit at the same Double Rare rarity, so it’s easy to assume they’re interchangeable in terms of significance. They aren’t quite the same thing.

Froslass ex represents the standard ex-form treatment that’s been the backbone of Scarlet & Violet-era sets since 2023: the character gets a boosted, set-opening slot but stays within the regular ex mechanic. Mega Froslass ex, by contrast, belongs to the newer Mega evolution line that only started appearing in Japanese sets more recently, and it’s the mechanic currently anchoring the newest releases in the lineup. In practical terms, that makes the 2023 Froslass ex the more established of the two prints, and the 2025 Mega Froslass ex the one tied to where new set design is currently heading.

For collectors trying to decide which of the two to prioritize, it comes down to whether you’re filling out a complete Froslass set (in which case you want both) or specifically chasing the newest mechanic (in which case Mega Froslass ex is the one to source first).

Which Froslass Box Fits Your Budget

If your goal is to open packs and try for one of these prints yourself rather than source a graded single, here’s how the four sealed products line up by price:

None of these prices reflect the odds of pulling any specific Froslass card from a box — we don’t publish box-odds estimates, and this guide sticks to identification and where each printing lives rather than probability. If you specifically want the single card rather than a shot at it from a box, the restock-request route below is the more direct option.

How to Collect Froslass Cards from Japan

None of the five Froslass singles above are currently in our stock, so the practical path to any of them right now is either opening sealed product from the matching set or requesting a restock alert for the single card itself.

If you’re after a specific single rather than a sealed box, restock requests for out-of-stock Froslass cards can be submitted through our Quick Order page. Because none of these five printings are currently in our stock, requesting through Quick Order is currently the only way to flag interest in a specific one.
