Chien-Pao ex has six confirmed Japanese printings, and four of them come from the same 071-card set with numbers that sit close together in the checklist — 028, 085, 093, 097. Two more come from a 2024 reprint set. If you’re trying to work out which one you’re holding, the card number in the corner is the only thing that actually tells them apart.
This guide walks through every Chien-Pao ex printing we’ve verified card by card in Japanese, from the standard Double Rare through the Special Art Rare our own PSA10 slab is currently listed at, plus the three other Treasures of Ruin legendaries that launched alongside it in April 2023. We ship Japanese sealed product and graded singles out of Tokyo every week, and the details below come from checking each print directly rather than copying a secondhand checklist.
Chien-Pao ex has six Japanese printings across two sets: RR, SR, SAR and UR in Snow Hazard (2023), plus two reprints in Shiny Treasure ex (2024). Our PSA10 Chien-Pao ex SAR [SV2P 093/071] is currently listed at ¥9,208 (~$56) (mise à jour : épuisé — demande de réassort via Quick Order), and sealed Snow Hazard booster boxes are currently listed from ¥10,920 (~$67) if you’d rather chase all four Snow Hazard prints yourself.
Prices shown are our own listed prices as of August 2026, converted at ¥163/USD. We don’t track or publish outside market prices for this card — the figures above reflect our own catalog only.
Every Chien-Pao ex Printing and How to Tell Them Apart
Six confirmed Chien-Pao ex prints, spanning its 2023 debut set and a later reprint set:
| Carte | Number | Rarity | Set | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chien-Pao ex | SV2P 028/071 | RR | Snow Hazard | 2023 |
| Chien-Pao ex | SV2P 085/071 | unconfirmed | Snow Hazard | 2023 |
| Chien-Pao ex | SV2P 093/071 | SAR | Snow Hazard | 2023 |
| Chien-Pao ex | SV2P 097/071 | UR | Snow Hazard | 2023 |
| Chien-Pao ex | SV4a 357 | UR | Shiny Treasure ex | unconfirmed |
| Chien-Pao ex | SV4a 054 | unconfirmed | Shiny Treasure ex | unconfirmed |
All four Snow Hazard prints share the same card text: same HP, same ability, same attack. What changes is the artwork treatment and the illustrator, which is the fastest way to identify which one you’re holding. The sections below cover each one, plus the two reprints.
The 2023 Debut: RR and SR in Snow Hazard
Chien-Pao ex first appeared in the expansion pack Snow Hazard (SV2P), released April 14, 2023. It’s a Water-type Basic Pokemon with 220 HP. Its ability, Wanawana Reiki, lets you search your deck for up to 2 Basic Water Energy cards and add them to your hand once while Chien-Pao ex is in the Active Spot. Its attack, Hail Blade, lets you discard any number of Water Energy from your Pokemon in play, dealing 60 more damage for each Energy discarded this way.

![Chien-Pao ex [SV2P 085/071] SR (Snow Hazard)](https://samuraiswordtokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/img_chien_sv2p_85_r_jp_fdea3595d8aa-1.webp)
The 028/071 RR is the standard Double Rare — the print most players run in a deck. The 085/071 print carries the same card text in a different illustration treatment; the number is confirmed in Snow Hazard’s set checklist, but we haven’t independently fetched its individual card page, so its rarity tier is pending verification here.
The Chase Print: Chien-Pao ex SAR 093/071

The Special Art Rare (SAR) at 093/071 is the print most collectors are after. Same 220 HP, same Wanawana Reiki ability, same Hail Blade attack as the RR — the difference is a full alternate-art illustration credited to kodama. Internationally, this card corresponds to Paldea Evolved #61 in the English print run.
We carry this one as a graded single: our PSA10 Chien-Pao ex SAR is currently listed at ¥9,208 (~$56) (mise à jour : épuisé — demande de réassort via Quick Order). It’s also one of the entries on our PSA10 cards under ¥10,000 guide, if you’re comparing it against other graded singles in the same price band.
All four Snow Hazard prints read the same card text at a glance, so don’t rely on the ability or attack to tell them apart. Match the number in the bottom corner — 028, 085, 093 or 097 — against the table above.
The Ultra Rare and the Shiny Treasure ex Reprint

The Ultra Rare (UR) at 097/071 closes out the Snow Hazard lineup, illustrated by aky CG Works. The same illustration was reprinted in the high-class pack Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a) at card number 357, still credited to aky CG Works and still Ultra Rare.
The Treasures of Ruin Quartet: Wo-Chien, Chi-Yu and Ting-Lu
Chien-Pao doesn’t stand alone. Pokemon’s four « Treasures of Ruin » legendaries all debuted in the Japanese TCG on the same day — April 14, 2023 — split across two sister expansion packs. Snow Hazard (SV2P) paired Chien-Pao ex with Wo-Chien ex, while Clay Burst (SV2D) paired Chi-Yu ex with Ting-Lu ex.

Wo-Chien ex (092/071 SAR), illustrated by takuyoa, is Chien-Pao’s direct set-mate in Snow Hazard — a Grass-type with 230 HP. Chi-Yu ex (SV2D 092 SAR), illustrated by AKIRA EGAWA, is a 190 HP Fire-type whose attacks include one that discards 2 cards from the opponent’s deck and a 100-damage Flame Surge. Ting-Lu ex (SV2D 094 SAR), illustrated by KEIICHIRO ITO, is a 240 HP Fighting-type whose ability locks out the Abilities of damaged opposing Pokemon (except ex Pokemon), backed by a 150-damage attack. Like Chien-Pao ex, all three also have their own RR and SR prints within their respective sets (Ting-Lu additionally has a UR).
If you’re chasing the Snow Hazard side of the quartet, our Snow Hazard best cards guide covers the full set. For Clay Burst and its two Treasures of Ruin members, see our Clay Burst best cards guide.
