The table sets the English expansion beside the two Japanese boxes. English cells come from the official pokemon.com pages, apart from the Limitless row counts; Japanese cells come from Bulbapedia’s list of Japanese expansions (snapshot September 15, 2026), and the Japanese card numbers come from the official pokemon-card.com database.

Set Size: Over 180, 181 Numbered, 207 Rows

Three sources give different numbers for the same English set, and each is correct on its own counting basis. The official page prints an approximate figure, the pokemon-tcg-data project (a third-party source) gives the numbered total, and Limitless TCG counts every row it lists.

The header says 205 and the list carries 207 rows, so the Limitless figures differ by two; the 11 other rows are the two Pokémon Communication variants (152a and 152b) and the nine basic Energy cards. By Limitless’s labels the 207 rows split as follows. Rarity names are Limitless’s labels, not the official English names.

The 23 Ultra Rare cards, numbered 159 to 181, are the cards followed in the sections below.

The Six TAG TEAM GX Pairs and Their SM9 SR Prints

English cards 159, 160, 161, 162, 164, 165, 169, 170 and 171 are the nine paired-name Ultra Rare GX cards in the Limitless list. Magikarp & Wailord, Gengar & Mimikyu and Latias & Latios each have two numbered English cards with different illustrator credits, and each of those pairs has two Japanese SR prints in SM9. Celebi & Venusaur and Pikachu & Zekrom also have two Japanese SR prints but one English card each, and Eevee & Snorlax has one English card and one Japanese SR print. Every pair in the table is a credit match: the illustrator credit on the English card (per Limitless) equals the credit on the official Japanese page, which marks the Japanese print as the same-credit candidate without proving identical artwork. Rainbow Rare and Secret Rare Cards: EN 182–196

Limitless labels EN 182 to 191 Rainbow Rare and EN 192 to 196 Secret Rare. The ten Rainbow Rare cards are GX cards, six of them TAG TEAM pairs, and the five Secret Rare cards are four Trainer Items and a Tool. These 15 English cards have no verified Japanese counterpart at the same tier, so the table shows the regular Japanese print of the same card.

English or Japanese: A Print Checklist

A card from the Team Up era can be an English card, a Japanese SM9 card or a Japanese SM8a card. Four printed details separate them.

• Number against set size. English Ultra Rare cards are numbered 159 to 181 in a set whose numbered total is 181. Japanese SR prints are numbered above their set’s main list, such as 100/095 in SM9 or 053/052 in SM8a.
• Set code. The Japanese cards carry SM9 or SM8a; the English cards carry the Team Up set.
• Two arts of one card. Where an English pair has two numbered cards, such as 160 and 161 for Magikarp & Wailord-GX, the two credits (5ban Graphics and OOYAMA) tell you which Japanese SR print sits beside each.
• Illustrator credit. A matching credit supports an English-to-Japanese match but does not prove that the artwork is identical.
