Japanese Pokemon High Class Packs: VMAX Climax to MEGA x MEGA Parade (2021-2027)

Japanese Pokemon High Class Packs: VMAX Climax to MEGA x MEGA Parade (2021-2027)

Five Japanese Pokemon high class packs in five years, every one of them ¥550. Japan’s high class pack line runs from VMAX Climax (December 3, 2021) through VSTAR Universe, Shiny Treasure ex and Terastal Festival ex to MEGA Dream ex (November 28, 2025), and the sixth, MEGA x MEGA Parade, is reported by Pokébeach for Friday, February 19, 2027. The official product pages for the five released packs print the same price and, from 2022 onward, the same ten-card pack; what changed each year is the rarity the pack introduced and the card it promised in every pack.

The term itself is the Pokémon Card Game’s own label, ハイクラスパック, printed in the product name of each set. Each page is quoted directly here — release date, price, kartu per pack and the printed per-pack condition — so the history is official where it can be and labelled reported where the Parade set is concerned, as of October 1, 2026.

We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo, and all five released high class packs are listed as boxes. Prices use ¥154/USD, verified October 1, 2026.

Key Takeaways

Official: five high class packs since 2021, all ¥550 per pack, 11 cards in 2021 and 10 cards from 2022, each with a printed per-pack condition except MEGA Dream ex. Reported: MEGA x MEGA Parade for February 19, 2027 at the same price and card count (Pokébeach, August 25, 2026). The S12A VSTAR Universe booster box is currently listed at ¥25,883 (~$168) and the M2A MEGA Dream ex booster box at ¥12,936 (~$84) in its No Shrink option.

What a High Class Pack Is, per the Official Pages

Each product page on pokemon-card.com names the product ハイクラスパック「…」 and prints three things a regular expansion page does not: a ¥550 price instead of ¥180–¥220, a ten-card pack (eleven in 2021) instead of five, and a per-pack condition line such as 「ポケモンex確定!」. The pages do not print packs per box, a total card count or a pull rate; MEGA Dream ex’s page prints only 「※カードはランダムに封入されています。」 on that subject. Those omissions are consistent, which is why no box price here is an official figure.

ハイクラスパック「MEGAドリームex」 (M2a) — the fifth high class pack and the first to carry the Mega Attack Rare rarity. Official product image.

The content pattern is visible in the official card database rather than on the product pages: a main set made largely of re-illustrated cards from the year’s expansions, followed by a numbered block of secret rares that is larger than any regular set’s. MEGA Dream ex lists 250 cards over a 193-card main set, with 57 cards above the line. That block is what collectors mean when they call a high class pack the year’s “chase” set, and it is where every new rarity in the line has first appeared.

The Five Packs: Official Dates, Prices and Pack Lines

Pack (code) Official release date Official price Cards per pack Printed per-pack condition Status
— one Pokémon ex in every pack Official
ハイクラスパック「テラスタルフェスex」 (sv8a) December 6, 2024 (Fri) ¥550 10 (「カード10枚入り」) 「ポケモンexが確定!」 — one Pokémon ex in every pack Official
ハイクラスパック「MEGAドリームex」 (m2a) November 28, 2025 (Fri) ¥550 10 (「カード10枚入り」) None printed; 「※カードはランダムに封入されています。」 Official
ハイクラスパック「MEGA×MEGA パレード」 February 19, 2027 (Fri) ¥550 10 One hit card per pack, per the report Reported (Pokébeach, August 25, 2026); no official page as of October 1, 2026

Three patterns are official. The price has never moved from ¥550. The pack went from eleven cards to ten in 2022 and has stayed there. And the release day has been a Friday in the first week of December for four years, then the last Friday of November in 2025 — which makes the reported February date for the sixth pack the first time the line would leave the year-end window. Pokébeach’s May 25, 2026 schedule had already placed Japan’s next high class pack after the turn of the year, and its August 25 report fixed the date.

The Rarity Each Pack Introduced

Every high class pack has carried a rarity or a treatment that had not appeared in a Japanese pack before it, and the official pages name them. VMAX Climax’s page features CSR (キャラクタースーパーレア) and CHR (キャラクターレア), the character-art rarities. VSTAR Universe’s page presents AR (アートレア) and SAR (スペシャルアートレア) as new rarity types, with 16 illustrators featured. Shiny Treasure ex’s page names AR and SAR; the official card database also marks shiny prints with an S icon, the Raichu S print at 237/190 being one example. Terastal Festival ex’s page highlights SAR and premium mirror-finish cards. MEGA Dream ex’s page announces a new rarity, MA (メガアタックレア), and mirror-finish cards (「新たなレアリティMA(メガアタックレア)が登場!」「豪華ミラー仕様のカードを収録!」), alongside AR and SAR.

Pack Rarity or treatment named on the official page What it is Official database example
VMAX Climax (s8b) CSR, CHR Character Super Rare and Character Rare: trainer-and-Pokémon art —
VSTAR Universe (s12a) AR, SAR (new) Art Rare and Special Art Rare: full-art illustrations, 16 illustrators featured —
Shiny Treasure ex (sv4a) AR, SAR (page); S icon in the database Shiny Pokémon prints with their own numbering block Raichu S 237/190
Terastal Festival ex (sv8a) SAR; premium mirror finish Special Art Rares and mirror-finish versions of main-set cards —
MEGA Dream ex (m2a) MA (new); AR, SAR Mega Attack Rare: new rarity with a mirror finish; the attack name is set across the art on every MA card shown so far Ten MA cards, 223/193–232/193
MEGA x MEGA Parade MA (four cards shown) Same rarity as 2025; whether a new rarity is added is not confirmed Mega Greninja ex 208/165 and three others, shown August 31, 2026 on under-development renders

MEGA Dream ex’s secret block is the most detailed official reference for what a modern high class pack contains: 20 AR, 9 SR, 10 MA, 17 SAR and 1 MUR, per the official database. The MEGA Dream ex card list and the complete guide go through that block card by card; the Mega Attack Rare complete list follows the rarity across both high class packs.

What Each Pack Became in English

The Japanese high class packs have no direct English release; their cards reach English players through a special expansion about six to nine weeks later, and Bulbapedia’s set pages state the relation for each pair. The record is consistent enough that English-language collectors use it as a calendar, with the caveat that no English counterpart of MEGA x MEGA Parade had been announced as of October 1, 2026.

Japanese pack (release) English special set (release) Gap Bulbapedia’s statement
VSTAR Universe (December 2, 2022) Crown Zenith (January 20, 2023) 49 days “Crown Zenith consists of cards from the Japanese VSTAR Universe expansion, cards from VSTAR Special Set and cards from the Paradigm Trigger expansion and Incandescent Arcana subset that were not localized in Silver Tempest.”
Shiny Treasure ex (December 1, 2023) Paldean Fates (January 26, 2024) 56 days “The Paldean Fates expansion comprises cards from the Japanese Shiny Treasure ex subset, as well as any remaining cards from Raging Surf, Terastal Starter Sets, Ancient Roar, and Future Flash that were not localized in Paradox Rift.”
Terastal Festival ex (December 6, 2024) Prismatic Evolutions (January 17, 2025) 42 days “Prismatic Evolutions contains mostly cards from the Japanese Terastal Fest ex subset and Generations Start Decks…”
MEGA Dream ex (November 28, 2025) Ascended Heroes (January 30, 2026) 63 days “Ascended Heroes includes cards from the Japanese MEGA Dream ex subset and the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection.”
MEGA x MEGA Parade (reported February 19, 2027) — — Not confirmed; no announcement

VMAX Climax, the 2021 pack, is not covered by the four Bulbapedia pairings, so it is left out of the table. Bulbapedia also notes that Crown Zenith and Paldean Fates packs “cannot be purchased separately” in English, sold only inside products, which is one reason buyers who want the pack-opening format import the Japanese box. Our MEGA x MEGA Parade English release article tracks the sixth pairing as it develops.

Where MEGA x MEGA Parade Fits

Everything about the sixth pack is reported or shown on under-development renders, and the MEGA x MEGA Parade hub carries each claim with its status. The points that bear on the line’s history: Pokébeach reported the Friday, February 19, 2027 release, the ¥550 pack and the ten-card count on August 25, 2026, and said the set features Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y; the Pokémon Company’s video of August 31, 2026 showed four Mega Attack Rares — Mega Greninja ex, Mega Zygarde ex, Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Rayquaza ex — whose renders print a 165-card main-set denominator and the code m7a; and no official product page existed as of October 1, 2026.

Set against the five released packs, the reported figures are the familiar format with a new calendar slot. The ¥550 price and ten cards match 2022–2025 exactly. The 165-card denominator, if it holds, is smaller than MEGA Dream ex’s 193. The Mega Attack Rare rarity carries over from 2025 with the same four illustrator credits (Taiga Kasai, 5ban Graphics, DOM and Saboteri) on the four renders. What is not confirmed is whether the pack adds a rarity of its own, how large its secret block is, and how its Raichu headliners are printed; the card list tracker records each of those as it is shown.

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

What is a Japanese Pokemon high class pack?

A product the Pokémon Card Game names ハイクラスパック: a ¥550 pack of ten cards (eleven in 2021) built from re-illustrated cards of the year’s expansions plus a large block of secret rares, with a printed per-pack condition such as one Pokémon ex. Five have released since 2021, one each December or late November.

How much does a high class pack cost in Japan?

Every official product page from VMAX Climax (2021) to MEGA Dream ex (2025) prints 希望小売価格 550円(税込) per pack. None prints a box price or packs per box. Pokébeach reports the same ¥550 for MEGA x MEGA Parade, which had no official page as of October 1, 2026.

When did each high class pack release?

VMAX Climax on December 3, 2021; VSTAR Universe on December 2, 2022; Shiny Treasure ex on December 1, 2023; Terastal Festival ex on December 6, 2024; MEGA Dream ex on November 28, 2025, all per the official product pages. MEGA x MEGA Parade is reported for February 19, 2027.

When does MEGA x MEGA Parade release?

Pokébeach reported Friday, February 19, 2027 on August 25, 2026, which would make it the first high class pack released outside the November–December window. The official site had not listed the product as of October 1, 2026, so the date is reported rather than official.

Which rarities did the high class packs introduce?

VMAX Climax featured CSR and CHR; VSTAR Universe introduced AR and SAR as new rarity types; Shiny Treasure ex featured AR and SAR, with shiny prints the database marks S; Terastal Festival ex highlighted SAR with mirror finishes; MEGA Dream ex introduced the Mega Attack Rare, which the four MEGA x MEGA Parade cards shown so far also carry.
