Search an illustrator database for most Pokemon TCG artists and you get a career: dozens of cards, multiple sets, a visible style across years. Search for hanabushi and you get one card.
That one card is the Iono Special Art Rare from Shiny Treasure ex — a Trainer print collectors specifically seek out by character and by illustrator — and a search of Limitless’s illustrator index turns up no other Pokemon TCG credit under that name in either the Japanese or English database. That combination, a single print carrying an entire illustrator credit, is what makes hanabushi worth a closer look, and it comes with a documented career in anime key animation that most collectors never connect to the card in their binder.
This guide covers exactly what is verified about hanabushi: the one Pokemon card, its animation credits from the Anime News Network encyclopedia, and how that single SAR compares to the other artists who have illustrated Iono across the game’s other sets. PSA10 copies of all four Iono prints discussed below are currently listed, sourced and shipped from Tokyo.
hanabushi has exactly one credited Pokemon card in Limitless’s illustrator index — the Iono SAR from Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a) #350/190, released 1 December 2023 — plus one English printing, Paldean Fates #237. Our PSA10 copy of the hanabushi SAR is currently listed at ¥30,282 (~$190), and sealed Shiny Treasure ex booster boxes start from ¥16,640 (~$105).
Prices are our own listed prices as of September 2026, converted at ¥159/USD.
The Card: Iono SAR From Shiny Treasure ex

The card is Iono — ナンジャモ in Japanese — numbered 350/190 in Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a), a Special Art Rare (SAR). The set released on 1 December 2023, and the card database credits the illustration to hanabushi, written lowercase, exactly as it appears in the artist field on the card itself.
Search Limitless’s illustrator index for that name and you get exactly two results worldwide: this Japanese SAR, and one English printing — Paldean Fates #237. Nothing else. No other set, no other card number, in either language database. That is hanabushi’s entire footprint in the Pokemon TCG’s citation records as of this writing.
Iono has been printed as a Secret Rare, a Special Art Rare (twice, by two different artists), and a Bellibolt ex SAR across four separate Scarlet & Violet-era sets. Only one of those — the SV4a 350/190 SAR — carries hanabushi’s name. Match the set and card number before assuming which artist you’re holding.
Who Illustrated the Other Iono Prints
Because Iono has been reprinted so often, it is easy to assume every chase-level Iono card shares an artist. It doesn’t. Here is who actually illustrated each of the other major prints, for the record:
Clay Burst (SV2D), released 14 April 2023, is where Iono first appeared as a chase card — the Secret Rare 091/071 by Sanosuke Sakuma, and the Special Art Rare 096/071 by kirisAki. Both predate the SV4a SAR by roughly eight months. Battle Partners (SV9) later paired Iono with Bellibolt for the 125/100 SAR, illustrated by Yuu Nishida.
Each of those three artists has a substantially larger card catalogue than hanabushi. Our guides to Sanosuke Sakuma’s card work and kirisAki’s card work cover their fuller portfolios. hanabushi’s single credit is the outlier in this group, not the norm. For a print-by-print rundown of every Iono card across all four sets, see our full Iono card guide.
Comparing the Four Iono Prints
PSA10 copies of all four cards above are currently listed. Listing them together shows how far apart the market has priced these four prints, despite all four being some version of the same character:
| Kaart | Set | Rarity | Artist | Our PSA10 price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iono 096/071 | Clay Burst (SV2D) | SAR | kirisAki | ¥100,976 (~$635) (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
| Iono 350/190 | Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a) | SAR | hanabushi | ¥30,282 (~$190) |
| Iono 091/071 | Clay Burst (SV2D) | SR | Sanosuke Sakuma | ¥24,772 (~$156) (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
| Iono’s Bellibolt ex 125/100 | Battle Partners (SV9) | SAR | Yuu Nishida | ¥21,549 (~$136) (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
Within our own listings, the kirisAki Clay Burst SAR sits well above the rest — more than three times our hanabushi SV4a SAR price. That is a comparison of our own stock only, not a claim about the wider secondary market, but it illustrates a real point: rarity tier and set alone don’t set the price. Two SARs, four numbers apart in nothing but coincidence, can land in very different brackets.
Beyond the Card: hanabushi’s Animation Credits
A one-card Pokemon TCG credit doesn’t mean hanabushi is new to illustration or animation. The Anime News Network encyclopedia lists a small but specific set of key animation credits under the name:
- Key Animation on Pokemon: Twilight Wings (ONA), episode 2
- Key Animation on Baby I Love You Daze (ONA)
- Key Animation on Tropical-Rouge! Precure (TV), episode 29
Baby I Love You Daze is a short, three-minute ONA released in December 2018, produced by animation studio BONES and directed by Rie Matsumoto, with an insert song — “Shinsekai” — performed by BUMP OF CHICKEN. It’s a small, specific credit rather than a headline project, which fits the overall shape of hanabushi’s documented work: precise, verifiable, and not extensive.
The detail collectors tend to find interesting is the timing. hanabushi’s key animation work on Pokemon: Twilight Wings episode 2 is on record before the SV4a card credit appeared in December 2023. We are not claiming one led to the other — there’s no documented connection between the animation work and the card commission — but it means the person who illustrated the Shiny Treasure ex Iono SAR had already worked, in an official capacity, on Pokemon’s own animation before that card existed.
Beyond those three ANN-listed credits, there is no verified biography to draw on. No confirmed real name, no confirmed gender, no verified connection to any music video, YouTube channel, or independent animation project circulating online, and no Wikipedia page in Japanese or English. Anything beyond the ANN credits and the one card is speculation, so we’re leaving it out.
Why a One-Card Illustrator Becomes a Chase Card
Most Pokemon TCG illustrators with any name recognition among collectors have built that recognition across dozens of cards — a recurring style you learn to spot in a binder. hanabushi doesn’t have that. There is exactly one card to point to, which means the entire evaluation of the artwork rests on a single print rather than a body of work.
That scarcity of output is a different kind of scarcity than a low print run or a rare pull rate. It’s an attribution scarcity: collectors who specifically hunt illustrator credits, rather than just characters or rarities, have nowhere else to look for more hanabushi material. Combine that with Iono’s ongoing popularity as a Trainer character across multiple sets, and the SV4a SAR ends up carrying two separate reasons to be chased — the character, and the one-off credit.
None of this is a claim about future value or pull rates — we don’t have market data beyond our own listed prices, and we’re not projecting where this card goes next. It’s simply the structural reason a single-print illustrator on a popular character tends to draw more attention than the raw card count would suggest.

Veelgestelde vragen
Who is hanabushi and what Pokemon card did they illustrate?
hanabushi is the credited illustrator of exactly one Pokemon TCG card: Iono SAR 350/190 from Shiny Treasure ex (SV4a), released 1 December 2023. Limitless’s database also lists one English printing under the same name, Paldean Fates #237 — that’s the artist’s entire card credit list.
Is the Clay Burst Iono SAR (096/071) also by hanabushi?
No. That card, Iono SAR 096/071 from Clay Burst (SV2D), is illustrated by kirisAki. The Clay Burst Secret Rare 091/071 is by Sanosuke Sakuma, and Iono’s Bellibolt ex SAR 125/100 from Battle Partners is by Yuu Nishida. hanabushi’s only credit is the SV4a 350/190 SAR.
What anime work has hanabushi done?
The Anime News Network encyclopedia credits hanabushi with key animation on Pokemon: Twilight Wings (episode 2), Baby I Love You Daze (a 2018 BONES-produced ONA directed by Rie Matsumoto), and Tropical-Rouge! Precure (episode 29). No other biographical details are verified.
Did hanabushi work on Pokemon’s own animation before illustrating the card?
Yes, on record — the key animation credit on Pokemon: Twilight Wings episode 2 predates the SV4a card’s December 2023 release. There is no documented connection between the two credits beyond that timing.
Why does a one-card illustrator credit affect the price?
It doesn’t change the card’s rarity tier, but it creates a form of scarcity collectors who track illustrators specifically respond to: there is no other hanabushi card to acquire. Combined with Iono’s popularity as a character, that gives the SV4a SAR two independent reasons to be sought after.
