The Suicune Pokémon card with the secret number 221/190 is スイクン from Shiny Star V (S4a), credited in the official Pokémon Card Game database on pokemon-card.com to Kagemaru Himeno (as printed on October 29, 2026). It has 120 HP, and it shares its card text with the regular 033/190 print from the same set, which the database credits to so-taro. Collectors search for the higher number as “shiny Suicune”.
This guide sets the two S4a prints next to each other, renders the printed Japanese text, shows the two other Suicune prints that carry the same attack wording, and lists what we currently offer from the set. We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
- The database lists two Suicune rows in S4a: 033/190 (so-taro) and 221/190 (Kagemaru Himeno). Both show 120 HP and the same printed text.
- The word “shiny” is the collectors’ search word. The database prints no rarity and no colour for either card, so this guide identifies them by number and illustrator.
- We currently list the sealed S4A Shiny Star V booster box at ¥21,232 (~$138). We do not list a Suicune single from this set, and the article gives no pull rates.
What Suicune 221/190 Is
The database page for スイクン 221/190 prints the values below. The database prints no rarity letter and no colour description, so none appears in this table.
| Field | Official database value |
|---|---|
| Name as printed | スイクン |
| Number and set | 221/190, set code S4a (Shiny Star V) |
| Illustrator | Kagemaru Himeno |
| Category line | No.245 オーロラポケモン (Aurora Pokémon) |
| Stage | Basic (たね) |
| HP | 120 |
| Weakness, Resistance, Retreat | Weakness ×2 (type shown as an icon), Resistance none; retreat cost shown as icons, not stated here |
| Database card ID | 38953 |

The number is the first clue. S4a prints 190 as its main-set count, so a card numbered 221/190 sits above that count, which marks a secret or special numbering. The same credit, Kagemaru Himeno, also appears in the database on the SM8 Raikou 037/095, which we cover in our Suicune GX SM8 guide as one of the legendary beasts printed in that set.
033/190 and 221/190 Side by Side
Shiny Star V is a high class pack. Our Suicune guide dates the set to Friday, November 20, 2020, and our listing names label it “High Class Pack” with the set title Shiny Star V. The two Suicune rows in the database differ in the number and the illustrator and agree on everything else we can read from the record.
| Detail | Suicune 033/190 | Suicune 221/190 |
|---|---|---|
| Setcode | S4a | S4a |
| Illustrator (database) | so-taro | Kagemaru Himeno |
| HP (database) | 120 | 120 |
| Category line | No.245 オーロラポケモン | No.245 オーロラポケモン |
| Attack text | スプラッシュ20, オーロラループ130 | スプラッシュ20, オーロラループ130 |
| Number position | Inside the printed 190 | Above the printed 190 |
| Database card ID | 38678 | 38953 |
| Our listing | None | None |

Because the two cards agree on name, HP and wording, a different illustrator credit is the record’s way of telling you the artwork is a different drawing. If you hold one of these cards, the number at the bottom is the check; the artist’s name is the second check.
The Card Text, Rendered from the Japanese
The record prints two attacks and no Ability. The English wording below is our rendering of the Japanese, not the text of an official English card, and the attack names are rendered or transliterated (rendering).
| Printed name | Damage | Effect, rendered |
|---|---|---|
| スプラッシュ | 20 | No further effect printed (Splash, rendering). |
| オーロラループ | 130 | Choose 2 Energy attached to this Pokémon and return them to your hand (Aurora Loop, rendering). |
Two things stand out. The 130-damage attack carries a drawback that the card itself spells out: two Energy go back to your hand after it is used. And the record shows no Ability and no special rule, so the card is a plain Basic Pokémon in the database entry. We do not state the energy cost icons here; the database page for card ID 38953 shows them.
The wording is the same on the 033/190, so the two S4a cards differ in artwork and number rather than in rules text. We do not make claims about how the card plays in tournament formats; this is a collector’s guide to the print.
Four Suicune Prints with the Same Wording
The same two attacks appear on four Suicune rows in the database. They span three set codes, and three of them are credited to so-taro.
| Kaart | Illustrator | HP | Database card ID |
|---|---|---|---|
| S3 016/100 | so-taro | 120 | 38154 |
| S4a 033/190 | so-taro | 120 | 38678 |
| S4a 221/190 | Kagemaru Himeno | 120 | 38953 |
| S-P 150/S-P | so-taro | 120 | 41763 |

The S-P 150/S-P is a promo number; how it was distributed is not stated in our sources, so we do not describe it. For the regular prints in this group, see our Suicune S3, S4a and S-P 150 regular-prints guide; for the full Japanese Suicune overview, see the Suicune Japanese Pokémon cards guide.
Where the S4a Prints Sit Among Suicune Prints
A single print is easier to judge when you can see its neighbours. The table lists the Suicune rows in the official database that surround Shiny Star V by set code, with the illustrator credit and HP the database prints for each. It is a reading list for the family, not a ranking, and it carries no prices.
| Kaart | Illustrator | HP | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| SM7a 018/060 | Anesaki Dynamic | 110 | Carries an Ability, いてつくすいりゅう (rendering) |
| SM8 028/095 and 098/095 (GX) | 5ban Graphics | 180 | See our Suicune GX SM8 guide |
| S3 016/100 | so-taro | 120 | Same wording as S4a |
| S4a 033/190 and 221/190 | so-taro; Kagemaru Himeno | 120 | The two prints in this guide |
| S-P 150/S-P | so-taro | 120 | Promo number, same wording |
| S7D 001/067 and 068/067 (V) | Ayaka Yoshida | 210 | A V card with an Ability, しゅんそく (rendering) |
| S12a 215/172 (V) | Atsushi Furusawa | 210 | Numbered above the set’s printed 172 |
Two patterns are visible in the credits. The three plain Basic prints in S3, S4a and the S-P number share one illustrator, so-taro, and one wording; the 221/190 keeps that wording and swaps the artwork to Kagemaru Himeno. The V cards, by contrast, move to a different illustrator and a different rules text, with 210 HP instead of 120. If a seller describes a card as “the Suicune from Shiny Star V” without a number, the table is a quick way to see that there are two candidates, and that the number decides which one it is.
For the V cards in the lower rows, our Suicune Japanese cards guide covers the S12a prints, and the legendary beasts value guide places all three beasts in one overview.
What “Shiny” Means in a Search Box
Shiny Star V is the name of the set, and “shiny” is the word collectors type into a search box for this print. It is a search habit, not a field in the database: the record gives a number, an illustrator, an HP and the attack text, and it prints neither a rarity nor a colour. This guide therefore says “the 221/190 print” and leaves the colour to the card image above and to the card in your hand.
It helps to see how our own listing names treat the numbers in this set. They carry rarity letters for the singles we list, and the letters follow the number ranges as follows.
| S4a number range in our listing names | Letter in the name | Example listing |
|---|---|---|
| Inside the 190 count | RR, or none | Crobat V RR [s4a 108/190]; Kyogre [s4a 036/190] |
| 195 to 198 | SR | Skyla SR [S4a 195/190]; Marnie SR [S4a 198/190] |
| 214 | S | Scorbunny S [s4a 214/190] |
| 307 to 329 | SSR or UR | Charizard V SSR [S4a 307/190]; Zacian V UR [s4a 329/190] |
The 221/190 falls between the 214 and the 307. None of our listing names covers a number in that gap, so we do not name a rarity letter for it. If you need the letter, read it from the card itself. For how the set’s cards are organised and ranked, see our Shiny Star V (S4a) card list and the Shiny Star V best-cards guide.
The S4a Booster Box We List
We currently list the sealed Shiny Star V booster box. A booster box is a sealed product: this article gives no pull rates and does not say what a particular box contains, so it is not a way to target a single Suicune print. What it is, is the set’s sealed product in one box.

Other S4a Cards We List
We do not list a Suicune single from S4a. The set has other cards in our catalogue, listed below so the names are not confused with the Suicune prints. Each back-order row is a PSA 10 copy offered as a back order, sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.
| Listing (as named by us) | Our price |
|---|---|
| PSA10 Charizard V SSR [S4a 307/190] | Currently listed at ¥34,060 (~$221) (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
| PSA10 Charizard VMAX SSR [S4a 308/190] | Currently listed at ¥44,913 (~$292) (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
| PSA10 Marnie SR [S4a 198/190] | PSA 10 back order at ¥33,419 (~$217) |
| PSA10 Zacian V UR [s4a 329/190] | PSA 10 back order at ¥14,079 (~$91) |
| PSA10 Ditto VMAX SSR [s4a 324/190] | PSA 10 back order at ¥14,045 (~$91) |
| PSA10 Kyogre [s4a 036/190] | PSA 10 back order at ¥7,850 (~$51) |
| PSA10 Reshiram [s4a 021/190] | PSA 10 back order at ¥6,200 (~$40) |
The two Charizard rows are visible PSA 10 products. Every letter in these names (SSR, SR, UR) is as our listing names it.
How to Tell Which Suicune You Hold
A Suicune from this group is placed by the number at the bottom of the card and the illustrator credit under the artwork.
| What the card shows | Print it points to |
|---|---|
| Number 033/190 | S4a regular print, so-taro |
| Number 221/190 | S4a secret-numbered print, Kagemaru Himeno |
| Number 016/100 | S3 print, so-taro, with the same attack wording |
| Number 150/S-P | S-P promo print, so-taro, with the same attack wording |
| Name スイクンGX or スイクンV | A different card; see the Suicune GX SM8 guide or the Suicune cards guide |
A practical way to confirm a card is to search the official database for the name スイクン, filter the results to the set code S4a, and match two things against the card in your hand: the number printed at the bottom and the illustrator credit under the artwork. The database card IDs given in this guide (38678 for the 033/190 and 38953 for the 221/190) lead straight to each record. If the number and the credit agree with one record, the print is settled; if they do not agree with either, the card is from another set or is not a Suicune from this group.
The same check works on a graded copy. A slab label names the card, set and number, so the number on the label is the field to compare. We do not quote label text here, because the exact wording is a property of each individual slab and not of the print.
Suicune and the 2027 Trademark Report
On October 29, 2026 premium.gamepedia.jp and PokeGuardian reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「オーロラの波紋」 (Aurora Ripples is a working English translation; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible Suicune set; nothing is announced. Our Aurora Ripples trademark guide explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the round-up of the four trademarks covers the others.
