One of the Regigigas Pokemon cards exists purely to reward players who built around the five other Regi legendaries first: the Japanese Time Gazer print (S10D 054/067), whose Ancient Wisdom ability unlocks a combo.
Across a decade of Japanese sets, Regigigas has been printed under nine card numbers across six Japanese sets, from a 2014 Phantom Gate rare through a 2024 Terastal Festival ex reprint: the early XY-era prints, the Sun & Moon heavyweight version, the Time Gazer card that gates its ability behind a full five-Regi bench, and the VSTAR Universe lineup that turned that same card into a V, a VSTAR, and a Special Art Rare.
Regigigas has never been a set’s headline chase card the way the Regi legendaries it powers up sometimes are — it’s more of a supporting piece, and its card history reflects that: mostly single-rare prints spread thin across six sets, with one exception. VSTAR Universe is where Regigigas finally got the full treatment, and that concentration is worth understanding before you go looking for a specific print.
Six Japanese sets have printed Regigigas across nine total card numbers between 2014 and 2024. The one that matters strategically is the 2022 Time Gazer version, whose Ancient Wisdom ability only turns on once Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, and Regidrago are all in play with it. If you’re chasing that card, it was printed in the S10D Time Gazer set; the VSTAR Universe Special Art Rare it led into was printed in S12a later in 2022.

One set carries almost half the list on its own: VSTAR Universe reprinted the Time Gazer version as a standard rare, then added a V, a VSTAR, and a Special Art Rare on top of it — four Regigigas cards from a single 2022 release. The rest of the line is spread thin, with most sets stopping at a single rare-tier print.
The Early Prints: Phantom Gate and Legendary Holo Collection
The earliest Regigigas print in the table is Phantom Gate (XY4), from September 2014: a Colorless 130 HP card illustrated by kawayoo, later released in English as Phantom Forces #86. It was reprinted a year later at rare in Legendary Holo Collection (CP2) with new artwork by Shin Nagasawa, still 130 HP. That second print never got a proper English set release — its only English-language counterpart circulated as a promo card (XY Promos #82) rather than inside a main set, which is part of why the CP2 illustration is less familiar to English-speaking collectors than the XY4 original.

The Heavyweight: Awakened Heroes

By Awakened Heroes (SM4S) in September 2017, Regigigas had grown into a proper attacker: Colorless, 180 HP, with an attack that costs five Energy for 160 damage — a genuinely heavy investment, in keeping with a Pokemon whose in-game stat spread is built around raw power rather than speed. It was released in English as Crimson Invasion #84. This print sits within the Sun & Moon era of Japanese sets; our Sun & Moon era Japanese Pokemon guide covers the full run of sets from that period.
The Combo Card: Time Gazer and Ancient Wisdom

Time Gazer (S10D), released April 2022, is the print that gives Regigigas an identity beyond raw HP. This Colorless 150 HP card carries the ability Ancient Wisdom: if Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, and Regidrago are all in play alongside it, you may attach up to three Energy cards from your discard pile to your Pokemon. It’s a build-around ability in the most literal sense — it does nothing until you’ve committed a bench slot to all five other Regi legendaries, at which point it turns into a burst of Energy acceleration. It released in English as Astral Radiance #130, and the same illustration was reprinted as a standard rare at S12a #123 in VSTAR Universe later that year.
Time Gazer is a Sword & Shield era Japanese set; our Sword & Shield era Japanese Pokemon guide covers the rest of that era’s lineup, including VSTAR Universe.
The Full Lineup: VSTAR Universe
VSTAR Universe (S12a), released December 2022, is where Regigigas got its biggest single-set push: a reprint of the Time Gazer rare, plus a V, a VSTAR, and a Special Art Rare of the VSTAR — four cards under one Pokemon, three of them new for this set.
The V (124/172) and standard VSTAR (125/172) are both illustrated by PLANETA Mochizuki: Colorless, 240 HP for the V and 300 HP for the VSTAR. The VSTAR carries a VSTAR Power called Star Guardian, usable once per game and specifically once your opponent is down to their last Prize card — a board-clearing effect built for closing a game out rather than opening one. The Special Art Rare (233/172) is a separate full-art illustration by Aya Kusube of the same VSTAR card. In English, the trio corresponds to Crown Zenith #113, #114, and #GG55.

The Terastal Festival ex Reprint
![Regigigas [SV8a 132/187] (Terastal Festival ex)](https://samuraiswordtokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/img_regigigas_sv8a_132_r_jp_fc781e2e9d75-1.webp)
Terastal Festival ex (SV8a) brought Regigigas back in December 2024 with a Colorless 160 HP body and a new attack, Jewel Break, which deals 100 damage — and 230 more on top of that if your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Tera Pokemon, for 330 total. It released in English as Prismatic Evolutions #86.
Which Print Fits What You’re Collecting
The right Regigigas print depends on what you’re actually after:
- Deckbuilding around the Regi legendaries. The Time Gazer print (S10D 054/067) is the Ancient Wisdom card, and Ancient Wisdom is specifically what makes it relevant — it’s the card to own if you’re building or completing a five-Regi bench.
- Display-grade full art. The VSTAR Universe Special Art Rare (S12a 233/172), illustrated by Aya Kusube, is the only full-art print in the lineup.
- Historical range. Phantom Gate (2014) and Legendary Holo Collection (2015) are the two oldest prints in this lineup — useful if you’re collecting by era rather than by card power.
- Scarlet & Violet-era print. Terastal Festival ex (SV8a 132/187) is the 2024 print and the one with the Jewel Break attack.
None of these are mutually exclusive — VSTAR Universe alone printed the reprint rare, the V/VSTAR pair, and the SAR.
Chasing Regigigas Through Sealed Boxes
Sealed boxes of the sets that printed Regigigas are one route to the prints in the table; which cards a given box holds is not fixed. The S10D Time Gazer booster box is currently listed at ¥19,540 (~$127); Time Gazer is the set that printed the Ancient Wisdom Regigigas (S10D 054/067).
The SV8A Terastal Festival ex booster box, the set behind the Jewel Break Regigigas (SV8a 132/187), is currently listed in Sealed and No Shrink options; the product page shows the current prices. The S12A VSTAR Universe booster box, in both its Sealed and No Shrink listings, is sold out at the time of this update — sourcing requests go through Snel bestellen.
