Return and Refund Policy

1. Return Eligibility

  • Defective or Incorrect Items: Returnable within [7 days] of delivery. Return shipping is on us.

  • Customer Preference (e.g., change of mind): Returnable within [7 days] of delivery if unopened and unused. You bear return shipping costs.

  • Non-Returnable Items:

    • Opened or used products.

    • Trading card packs or randomized products after opening.

    • Items marked as “final sale” on the Shopify store.

2. Return Process

  1. Contact us via the Shopify store’s Contact Page or support@samuraiswordtokyo.com to request a return.

  2. Provide your order number, reason for return, and photos (for defective items).

  3. Upon approval, return the item to the provided address (use a trackable shipping method) or use Shopify’s return label (if available).

3. Refunds

  • Refunds are processed within [7 business days] of receiving the returned item, via Shopify’s payment system.

  • For defective/incorrect items, we refund the product price, shipping, and applicable customs duties.

  • For customer preference returns, shipping and customs duties are non-refunded.

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method (e.g., Shopify Payments).

4. International Returns

  • For cross-border returns, customs duties and taxes may not be refundable (check with your local customs authority).

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs unless Shopify provides a return label.

5. Notes

  • Unauthorized returns will not be accepted. Contact us first.

  • Track your return status via Shopify’s tracking tools (if applicable).

6. Customs Duties / VAT

Our product will be shipped from Japan. Please note, depending on the import laws of your country, you might incur additional charges such as customs duties and local taxes (e.g., VAT, GST, sales tax). Declaring a lower amount than the actual sales price to customs would violate Japanese export laws, and our company could face penalties. Therefore, we cannot accommodate such a request. Thank you for your understanding.

Currently, we only accept orders from the United States through our Shopify store. In this case, we adopt the DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) method, and customs duties are included in the product price and collected in advance. Therefore, you do not need to pay customs duties separately upon receiving your order.

As far as customs duties are concerned, this is a tax on imported goods which is defined by your country of residence. This tax is applied when the goods cross the border and is different depending on the country of the recipient. It can be either a flat rate or a percentage of the price of your goods.
The exact amount of customs duty is difficult for the importer and exporter to anticipate as it depends on many factors. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.
