PSA authenticates first, grades second and encapsulates third, and it grades only a card that has been deemed authentic. A card that fails or shows alteration comes back without a numeric grade under an N code (N1 to N9). 三個步驟：鑑定、評級、封裝
PSA 的價格頁面先定義了這兩個詞。鑑定（Authentication）是查驗收藏卡牌原件真偽的過程。評級（Grading）是使用 PSA 的 10 分制評估卡牌品質與品相。該頁面補充說，只有在卡牌被認定為真品之後才能進行評級。

鑑定：Authentic、Authentic Altered 與偽造品
PSA Japan 常見問題（F-05）區分了非數字卡磚上出現的兩個術語。Authentic 僅表示卡牌為真品，並不說明品相。Authentic Altered 指經過改動的真品卡，例如被裁邊、重新上色或清潔。PSA 表示這類卡牌無法評級，只能進行鑑定。

評級：1-10 分制與 PSA 對 Gem Mint 10 的說明
第 2 步給出 1 到 10 的數字。在評級標準頁面上，PSA 對 Gem Mint 10 的定義如下：幾乎完美的卡牌，四個角完全銳利，對焦清晰，保有完整的原始光澤，沒有任何汙漬，允許存在不影響卡牌整體觀感的輕微印刷瑕疵。
同一定義也設定了置中限度：圖像必須置中在容許範圍內，正面大約不超過 55/45，背面大約不超過 75/25。PSA 另附一則置中說明：可由評級員全權裁量，依卡牌整體觀感允許小幅偏差。我們的置中文章展示了這些比例在日本卡牌上的樣子。
客觀檢查與主觀判斷
PSA 的標準頁面指出，評級有很大一部分是客觀的，例如找出印刷瑕疵、汙漬與表面摺痕並測量置中，另一部分則帶有一定主觀性。頁面稱評級員保有權利，可依卡牌觀感的強弱對分數做出判斷。PSA 表示這適用於恰好落在兩個分數之間的少見卡牌。
日本採用相同標準

無評分代碼 N1 至 N9 與 MK 標註
PSA 的評級標準頁面列出了卡牌不附數字評分、裝在 card saver 卡套中退回的九種原因。下表對每個代碼做了轉述，並依 PSA 的說法列出封裝選項與評級費用。“AA” 與 “Auth” 指送評人可在送評表上填寫的期望最低評分，PSA 說明最低評分選項僅適用於部分服務等級。

除 N 代碼外，PSA 在同一頁面上另列一個標註。MK 代表 Marks：任何帶有文字、墨跡、鉛筆痕跡或書寫壓痕的卡牌都標為 MK。
九個代碼中的三個，N6、N8 與 N9，在卡牌不封裝退回時不收費；N6 與 N8 卡牌若以 Authentic 封裝則要收費，如表所示，而 N9 從不封裝。五個代碼，即 N1 至 N3、N5 與 N7，是 PSA 與 Authentic Altered 卡磚掛鉤的代碼，且僅在送評人要求了該最低評分時適用。
卡磚與 LightHouse 標籤
第 3 步將每張卡牌放入各自的外殼。PSA 表示外殼經音波密封且防拆封，評分與認證編號顯示在 PSA LightHouse 標籤上。一份日期為 2023 年 3 月 10 日的客戶溝通通知，將先進全像圖、專有標籤與防拆封外殼列為 PSA 卡磚的安全特性。

依 PSA 價格頁面，Express 及以上的所有等級都包含 Grader Notes，詳述卡牌瑕疵並釐清結果。Standard 與 Priority 未列出 Grader Notes。因此標籤並不是送評人能取得的唯一資訊，但在成品卡磚上，買家看到的只有標籤。
PSA Japan：誰可以送評、有哪些等級
PSA Japan 常見問題 D-08 表示，該評級服務僅接受居住在日本者的申請。日期為 2025 年 7 月 18 日的 PSA 支援文章使用相同措辭，即日本分部目前僅接受日本居民的送評。常見問題 D-09 補充說，PSA 美國已停止接受美國境外客戶的評級送評，因此 PSA Vault 及類似的經美國轉接的服務對日本居民暫時受限。

可以從日本境外向 PSA Japan 送評嗎？
