Three starter lines, nine printings, and one dedicated secret-rare slot built just for them. That’s the shape of the Paldea starter run in Japan’s SV1a Triplet Beat — the enhanced expansion built around the three Generation 9 starters.
Triplet Beat isn’t a full main-series set. It’s a smaller, focused release built specifically around the three Generation 9 starters, and that focus shows up in the numbering: every basic and first-evolution form gets an AR (Art Rare) treatment, and all three final evolutions — Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex — share their own SAR (Special Art Rare) block at cards 096–098. This guide walks through all nine printings, explains how the set’s AR/SR/SAR/UR structure is laid out, and points to what we currently carry from the set. We ship Japanese sealed product and singles out of Tokyo every week, and the stock referenced here is our own.
Each starter line follows the same evolutionary shape in this set: a Basic Pokemon, a first evolution, and — several card numbers later — a second-evolution ex. Within the blocks covered in this guide, the final evolutions appear only as their ex forms — Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval don’t show up here as plain, non-ex prints. That structure makes the set easy to collect as three parallel three-card runs rather than a scattered checklist, which is part of why we’ve organized this guide line by line rather than strictly by card number.
SV1a Triplet Beat (March 10, 2023) carries all three Paldea starter lines — Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly — through their basic, first-evolution and final-evolution ex forms. A graded PSA 10 Quaquaval ex SAR (098/073) is currently listed at ¥15,017 (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order), and the SV1a Triplet Beat Booster Box is currently listed from ¥15,600.
Prices reflect our own catalog as of August 2026. All three Paldea starter ex cards are card numbers 096–098 out of SV1a Triplet Beat’s 073 base cards (103 total including secrets).
Every Paldea Starter Card in Triplet Beat
All nine Paldea starter printings from SV1a Triplet Beat, in card-number order:

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sprigatito | SV1a 075/073 | AR | Grass | — |
| Floragato | SV1a 076/073 | AR | Grass | — |
| Meowscarada ex | SV1a 096/073 | SAR | Grass | — |
| Fuecoco | SV1a 078/073 | AR | Fire | — |
| Crocalor | SV1a 079/073 | AR | Fire | — |
| Skeledirge ex | SV1a 097/073 | SAR | Fire | — |
| Quaxly | SV1a 081/073 | AR | Water | — |
| Quaxwell | SV1a 082/073 | AR | Water | — |
| Quaquaval ex | SV1a 098/073 | SAR | Water | PSA 10, ¥15,017 (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) |
The pattern across all three lines is identical: the basic and first-evolution forms sit in the AR range (074–085), while the final evolution’s ex version jumps all the way to the SAR range (096–098). Within the printings covered in this guide, Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval only appear as their ex forms. There’s more to the set’s rarity structure than this table shows — see the section below for how the SR and UR blocks fit in.
How the Set Is Structured: AR, SR, SAR and UR
Triplet Beat’s secret-card range runs from 074 through 103, and it’s organized in clean, dedicated blocks rather than the mixed rarity spreads you’ll see in a typical main-series set:
- 074–085, AR (Art Rare) — 12 slots total. Six of them are the basic and first-evolution forms of the three Paldea starters; the rest belong to other Pokemon in the set.
- 086–088, SR — a second rarity tier for the three starter ex cards, distinct from the SAR versions below.
- 096–098, SAR (Special Art Rare) — the block covered in most detail in this guide: Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex, each getting its own full alternate-art treatment.
- 101–103, UR (Ultra Rare) — a fourth tier confirmed to exist as a numbered slot in the set; we haven’t verified its contents, so we can’t say here whether it maps to the Paldea starters.
Put together, that means Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex don’t just have one high-end print each — between the SR block and the SAR block covered in this guide, they carry at least two confirmed alternate-art tiers each. Add the six AR basic and first-evolution prints, and this guide covers nine Paldea starter printings we can confirm in full identification detail: the six AR prints and the three SAR ex cards, including the one we currently carry graded.
Because all three ex forms share the SAR range at once, “the Paldea starter SAR” isn’t specific enough to know what you’re buying — confirm the card number (096, 097 or 098) against the Pokemon before paying an SAR-level price. The same caution applies to the SR and UR blocks, where we can’t yet confirm which number belongs to which starter.
Sprigatito Line: Sprigatito, Floragato, Meowscarada ex
Sprigatito (075/073, AR) and Floragato (076/073, AR) are the basic and first-evolution Grass-type stages, each carrying the AR treatment; the illustrator for these two AR prints isn’t verified in our sourcing. The line ends at Meowscarada ex (096/073, SAR), illustrated by Kouki Saitou — a two-stage evolution at 310 HP. Its ability, Bouquet Magic, lets you discard a basic Grass Energy from hand to put three damage counters on one of the opponent’s Benched Pokemon, and its attack, Scratch Nail, does 100-plus damage. Of the three starter ex cards in this guide, Meowscarada ex is the only one whose ability targets the Bench directly rather than boosting its own attacker.
Fuecoco Line: Fuecoco, Crocalor, Skeledirge ex
Fuecoco (078/073, AR) and Crocalor (079/073, AR) follow the same AR pattern as the other two lines, with illustrator credit unverified for these two prints. Skeledirge ex (097/073, SAR), illustrated by kantaro, sits at 340 HP — the highest of the three starter ex cards. Its first attack, Katsuryoku no Uta (Song of Vitality), does 50 damage and heals 30 HP from every Pokemon on your side; its second, Burning Voice, hits for 270 with a reduction of 10 damage for each of your own damage counters in play. Between the two attacks, Skeledirge ex is built to trade healing for damage output depending on how the board looks, rather than committing to one attack every turn.
Quaxly Line: Quaxly, Quaxwell, Quaquaval ex

Quaxly (081/073, AR) and Quaxwell (082/073, AR) carry the Water-type line through its basic and first-evolution stages, with illustrator credit unverified for these two prints. The line closes with Quaquaval ex (098/073, SAR), illustrated by Souichirou Gunjima, at 320 HP. Its Exciting Samba attack does 60 damage and switches both Active Pokemon; its second attack, Screw Shoot, hits for 230 but requires returning two attached Energy to hand. This is the printing we currently carry graded — a PSA 10 Quaquaval ex SAR is currently listed at ¥15,017 (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order).
Chasing the Set Through Triplet Beat Booster Boxes
Because all nine Paldea starter printings come out of the same product, a sealed Triplet Beat booster box is the direct route to any of them — AR, SR, SAR or UR — alongside the rest of the set’s cards. Unlike buying a single card sight-specified by number, opening product is the only way to pull from across all four rarity tiers in one sitting, since no single graded listing can substitute for the range the booster box covers.
If you’d rather buy a specific card outright instead of opening for one, our graded PSA 10 Quaquaval ex SAR (update: uitverkocht — vraag restock aan via Quick Order) is available as a single piece. That’s the one option in this guide we can point to as a confirmed, individually graded copy — the SR and UR ex prints discussed above aren’t part of our current stock. SV1a Triplet Beat, released in Japan on March 10, 2023. It’s an enhanced expansion built around the three Generation 9 starter lines — Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly — carrying 073 base cards plus secrets for a total of 103.
What is the highest-rarity Paldea starter card in Triplet Beat?
The three ex final evolutions — Meowscarada ex (096/073), Skeledirge ex (097/073) and Quaquaval ex (098/073) — share a dedicated SAR (Special Art Rare) block, with a further UR tier at 101–103. We currently carry a graded PSA 10 Quaquaval ex SAR, listed at ¥15,017.
What’s the difference between the AR and SAR Paldea starter cards?
AR (Art Rare) covers the basic and first-evolution forms of all three starters at card numbers 074–085. SAR (Special Art Rare) is reserved for the three final-evolution ex cards at 096–098, each with its own full alternate-art treatment.
Do Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex have rarity versions besides the SAR?
Yes. Beyond the SAR block covered in this guide (096–098), the same three starter ex Pokemon also occupy an SR block (086–088) in Triplet Beat. A UR tier also exists at 101–103, though we haven’t verified its contents. We haven’t independently verified which specific card number in the SR block corresponds to which Pokemon, so this guide focuses on the AR and SAR prints we can identify with confidence.
