The set’s theme centers on Mega Rayquaza-EX making its debut, alongside Mega Latios-EX and a broader wave of Dragon-type Pokemon — a lineup drawn from that generation’s Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire storyline. Mega Rayquaza EX carries the Ancient Trait Δ Evolution, letting it evolve the turn the Pokemon comes into play — even on your first turn of the game — instead of waiting a turn as normal. Worth flagging directly: this is a different card from the “M Rayquaza EX UR 095/081” listings you may see — including our own graded copy — referenced elsewhere on Japanese card marketplaces. That number and rarity combination does not match any confirmed XY6 printing — the set’s actual secret Mega Rayquaza is 086/078, rarity SR, as documented above. Winona SR 1st Edition 088/078: Our In-Stock Anchor
Two card numbers past Mega Rayquaza EX sits Winona (ナギ), a Supporter card at 088/078, also a SR secret rare. How Many Cards Are in XY6? A Numbers Discrepancy
Sources don’t fully agree on XY6’s total card count, and we’re not going to pretend one is definitively right. The regular numbering runs 001–078 either way — that part is settled and matches the printed numbers on cards like Mega Rayquaza EX (086/078) and Winona (088/078).
Where accounts diverge is the secret-rare tail past 078:
- One widely cited reference lists 91 total cards (78 main-set cards plus 13 secret/high-rarity cards), which would put the secret range at roughly 079–091.
- A card-database count based on catalogued thumbnails lists 89 total cards, which would put the secret range at roughly 079–089.
Both confirmed secrets we cover here — 086/078 and 088/078 — fall inside either range, so the discrepancy doesn’t affect which cards are real. It’s simply a case of two respectable sources counting the set’s outer edge differently, and we’re presenting both rather than picking a side.
