We accept the payment methods listed below. All payments are made in Japanese yen (JPY). Any difference between the amount we charge and the amount shown on your statement (exchange rates, conversion fees charged by your card issuer, your bank, or PayPal) is determined by your payment provider or financial institution and is outside our control.

1. Wise (Bank Transfer)

No payment processing fee. Wise bank transfer is the only method that does not carry the Payment processing fee (5%) described in Section 5.
Please complete your payment via Wise within 24 hours of placing your order.
Enter the payment reference issued with your order, SST-{order number}, in the Wise transfer reference field exactly as issued, without modification. A missing or altered reference may delay or prevent us from matching your payment.
Paying by SWIFT (international wire): payments received via SWIFT incur a receiving fee of JPY 611, which is deducted before the funds reach us. If you pay by SWIFT, please add JPY 611 to your order total. If the amount we receive is short, order processing will be paused until the shortfall has been paid and confirmed.
Payments are confirmed during our business hours in the order received. Your order proceeds once the payment has been confirmed.
If payment cannot be confirmed within the deadline, the order will be cancelled after a final check.
If the sender name differs from the name on the order, please contact us in advance via our Contact Form.

2. PayPal

Payment is completed immediately through PayPal at checkout, using your PayPal balance or the funding sources you have linked to your PayPal account.
The funding options available inside PayPal (balance, linked bank account, linked cards, and so on) are determined by PayPal, not by us.
We never receive or store your card or bank details.
The Payment processing fee (5%) applies. See Section 5.

3. Credit and Debit Cards (through PayPal)

You can pay by credit or debit card at checkout using the black Debit or Credit Card button. The card form opens in PayPal’s own secure window.
Card brands accepted: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB. Which of these is offered to you is decided by PayPal, based on your country and your card.
A PayPal account is usually not required for a card payment. PayPal may occasionally ask you to sign in or create an account, depending on the card, the amount, and its own checks at that moment.
Card details are entered on PayPal’s side. We never see, receive, or store your card number, expiry date, or security code.
Your card issuer may apply 3-D Secure authentication, for example a one-time code or a confirmation in your banking app. That step is handled between PayPal and your issuer.
The Payment processing fee (5%) applies. See Section 5.

4. PayPal Pay Later

PayPal Pay Later splits an eligible order into instalments instead of one payment. Where it is available, PayPal shows it as a Pay Later button at checkout.
Pay Later is offered and operated by PayPal, not by Samurai Sword Tokyo. We display the button that PayPal makes available for your checkout, and the instalment agreement is between you and PayPal.
The product name depends on the country of the buyer. These are the options we see at our checkout, and each one of them is interest-free:
- United States: PayPal Pay in 4, 4 payments, one every 2 weeks, first payment at checkout
- United Kingdom: PayPal Pay in 3, 3 monthly payments, first payment at checkout
- France: PayPal Paiement en 4X, 4 monthly payments, first payment at checkout
- Italy: PayPal Paga in 3 rate, 3 monthly payments, first payment at checkout
- Spain: PayPal Paga en 3 plazos, 3 monthly payments, first payment at checkout
- Australia: PayPal Pay in 4, 4 fortnightly payments, first payment at checkout
- Canada: PayPal Pay in 4, 4 payments, one every 2 weeks, first payment at checkout
In other countries PayPal may show a different option on different terms. Whichever option appears, the terms PayPal displays in its own window are the ones that apply, so please read them before you confirm.
Availability is not guaranteed. Which option is shown, and whether any option is shown at all, is decided by PayPal. It depends on your country, your PayPal account, the order amount, and PayPal’s own approval. Pay Later may not be offered on your order even if you have seen it before.
PayPal Pay Later is not available to buyers in Japan. PayPal changes these products from time to time. The current terms for each country are on PayPal official pages, linked country by country in our payment guide.
Questions about a Pay Later plan, its schedule, or its charges need to be raised with PayPal. We have no access to your Pay Later agreement.

5. Payment processing fee (5%)

A Payment processing fee (5%) is added to orders paid by PayPal, by credit or debit card through PayPal, or with PayPal Pay Later. It covers the processing cost charged to us on those payments.
The fee is 5% of the final total, so it moves with your cart and your shipping.
It is shown at checkout on its own line, labelled Payment processing fee (5%), before you pay. It is part of the total you confirm, so nothing is added after your order is placed.
The line updates when you change payment method, so you can see the exact amount before you choose.
Wise bank transfer has no payment processing fee. If you would rather not pay the 5%, choose Wise.
Refunds are handled under our Return and Refund Policy.

6. General

All amounts are charged in Japanese yen (JPY). If your card, your bank account, or your PayPal account is held in another currency, the conversion rate and any conversion fee are applied by PayPal or by your issuer, not by us.
Payment is made at the time you place your order. For pre-orders, payment is collected at the time of purchase.
You can order as a guest or with an account. Creating an account (or choosing Create account at checkout) lets you earn and use points, track your orders, and manage your details.
Customs duties, import taxes, and carrier fees are not included in the product price, except for orders to the United States and US territories, where estimated import duties and the US customs processing fee are collected at checkout (DDP). See our Customs Duties and Import Taxes Policy.
Refunds, where applicable, are issued to the original payment method. See our Return and Refund Policy.
