Grant SAR 238/172 is the Japanese VSTAR Universe card that shows Grant reaching into a tree for fruit, illustrated by Oswaldo KATO. The same illustration also appears on the English Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery card GG62/GG70, which carries a different collector number entirely.
This guide separates the Japanese SAR from its English counterpart, compares it with three earlier Japanese Grant prints from Space Juggler, and explains the two-part Supporter text printed on all four Japanese cards.
Japanese Grant (ザクロ) SAR 238/172 is from VSTAR Universe (S12a), illustrated by Oswaldo KATO. The same illustration is English Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery GG62/GG70. Our PSA 10 Grant SAR 238/172 listing is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥8,112 (~$53) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.
Card facts below are read from the official Japanese card database. Marketplace and store figures are dated as stated; USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
238/172 SAR and English GG62/GG70
The official Japanese Grant entry lists card number 238/172, rarity SAR, and credits the illustration to Oswaldo KATO. The set is VSTAR Universe (S12a), and the official product page gives a Japanese release date of December 2, 2022.
| Identifier | Japanese card | English counterpart |
|---|---|---|
| Printed name | ザクロ | Grant |
| Number | 238/172 | GG62/GG70 |
| Set | VSTAR Universe (S12a) | Crown Zenith, Galarian Gallery |
| Illustrator | Oswaldo KATO | Oswaldo KATO |
The official English card image for GG62/GG70 confirms the same illustration and artist credit. The two prints share the artwork but use separate collector numbers because they belong to different language releases — December 2, 2022 is the Japanese release date only, and it should not be read across to the English card. See our VSTAR Universe (S12a) guide or the full VSTAR Universe card list for the wider set.
A collector number identifies a print. It does not reveal a print run, a grading population or a pull probability, so treat 238/172 and GG62/GG70 as two separate listings to compare rather than a single price.
An Outdoor Scene Beside a Close Portrait

The SAR shows Grant reaching through a tree toward a large yellow fruit, with more fruit gathered against his body and Pokemon below him. The 078/067 SR from Space Juggler, illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa, is a closer composition: Grant reaches a hand toward the viewer, with coloured stone-like details around him. It is a separate illustration, not a crop of the SAR artwork.
Official card images identify the illustration and printed details only. They do not show a seller’s actual card edges, surface or grading label — check listing photographs separately before choosing a physical copy, and treat the brightness of a reference image as a design property, not a condition grade.
Playing Grant and Recovering Grant Are Different Actions
Playing Grant as a Supporter makes your Fighting Pokemon’s attacks do 30 more damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon during that turn, applied before Weakness and Resistance.
The printed text also lets you, during your turn, discard two cards other than Grant from your hand, reveal a Grant in your discard pile, and put it into your hand. That recovery does not count as the Supporter you play for the turn.
| Action | What happens | Supporter-turn consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Play Grant from your hand | Your Fighting Pokemon’s attacks do 30 more damage this turn | Uses the Supporter play |
| Recover Grant from your discard pile | Grant returns to your hand after discarding two other cards | Does not use the Supporter play |
| Recover Grant after already playing a Supporter | Grant is back in hand | The one-Supporter-per-turn limit still applies |
The recovery payment specifically excludes cards named Grant, so a second Grant in your hand cannot be used to pay for it. Recovering Grant does not itself apply the damage bonus — the recovered card must still be played as a Supporter, when the one-Supporter limit allows it, to get that effect. All four Japanese prints covered in this guide carry the same two-part text.
Three More Japanese Grant Prints from Space Juggler
Space Juggler (S10P) is an earlier Japanese release; its official product page gives April 8, 2022 as the Japanese release date, roughly eight months before the VSTAR Universe SAR. It contains three further Grant prints worth comparing before you buy.

065/067 U is a conventional illustration-window card: Grant stands against a rocky indoor setting with lights behind him. 084/067 HR reuses the 078/067 SR’s close pose with a rainbow-coloured treatment; read the full number and HR label to tell it apart from the ordinary SR, rather than assuming a colourful photograph is the SR under different lighting.
The official database lists these Grant prints: S10P 065/067 U, 078/067 SR, 084/067 HR and S12a 238/172 SAR. For the wider category, our Japanese full-art Trainer guide covers SR and SAR Supporters more broadly, and our Japanese Pokémon card rarities guide covers how U, SR, HR and SAR differ.
The Dated Ask and Our PSA 10 Back Order
The lowest asking price for Grant SAR 238/172 on SNKRDUNK on September 23, 2026 was ¥7,800 for a PSA 10 copy and ¥1,000 for a raw copy. That is an asking price, not a completed sale.
Our PSA 10 Grant SAR 238/172 listing is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥8,112 (~$53) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. Our PSA 10 back order guide explains how that process works.
A PSA 10 is the grade PSA recorded for that individual card — it is not a promise about a future grading outcome, a population figure or a turnaround time. Our Japanese Pokémon card grading guide covers how PSA, BGS and CGC differ.

Are Grant 238/172 and GG62/GG70 the same language edition?
No. 238/172 SAR is Japanese VSTAR Universe, while GG62/GG70 is English Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery. They share the artwork but use different collector numbers and release identities.
