Entei EX (エンテイEX, BW4-B 009/069) is the one Entei in the official Japanese card database whose name ends in an upper-case EX. The database credits the illustrator shizurow, prints 180 HP, and gives the card two attacks and a special-rule line that names 2 Prize cards. This guide describes the card from that database row, places it next to its Dark Rush partner Raikou EX, and explains what we do and do not list, including whether an Entei EX price exists on our site.
The short answer to an Entei EX price search is that we do not currently list this card. We do list a related Dark Rush card, the Raikou EX 1st Edition back order, and several other Entei cards; they are linked below with their own prices. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
- エンテイEX is BW4-B 009/069, illustrated by shizurow, with 180 HP. Our Entei guide gives Dark Rush as released on Friday, December 16, 2011.
- Its attacks are ほのおのキバ30 (Burns the opponent’s Active Pokémon) and グランドフレイム90 (moves one Energy from your discard pile to a Benched Pokémon), both rendered from the official Japanese text.
- The Raikou partner, ライコウEX BW4-B 025/069, is also by shizurow with 170 HP. We offer the Raikou EX SR 071/069 1ED as a PSA 10 back order at ¥148,720 (~$966) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.

What Entei EX BW4-B 009/069 Is
The database page for エンテイEX prints the values in the table. The set code shows as BW4-B on the database; our listings write the same set as BW4, and the set is named Dark Rush on our side.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name as printed | エンテイEX |
| Set and number | BW4-B 009/069 (Dark Rush) |
| Illustrator | shizurow |
| Stage | Basic (たね) |
| HP | 180 |
| Database card ID | 27769 |
| Release of Dark Rush | Friday, December 16, 2011, per our Entei guide |
| Rarity | Rare, per our Entei guide; the database page does not print a rarity |

The card is a Basic Pokémon, so it does not need an earlier stage to enter play. The database lists a single Entei EX; it is the only Entei in the database whose name carries the EX suffix, and the card text refers to itself as ポケモンEX. The plain Entei prints are covered in our Entei card guide.
The Two Attacks, Rendered
The card text is Japanese. The table gives a rendering of each line, not a quotation, and describes this card only.
| Printed name | Damage | Effect, rendered |
|---|---|---|
| ほのおのキバ | 30 | The opponent’s Active Pokémon is Burned. |
| グランドフレイム | 90 | Choose 1 Energy from your discard pile and attach it to one of your Benched Pokémon. |
| Special rule (特別なルール) | — | When a Pokémon-EX is knocked out, the opponent takes 2 Prize cards. |
ほのおのキバ is a low-damage attack with a status effect attached. The word やけど in the printed text is the Burned status, and the official rules define how that status works, so we point to the official how-to-play page (in Japanese) rather than restating it. グランドフレイム is the larger attack, and its effect is movement of an Energy card from the discard pile to the Bench, not a damage modifier. Both facts come straight from the card text; we make no claim about how often either attack is used in play.
The card prints no Ability, Poké-Power or Poké-Body, so everything it does is in these two attacks and the rule line. In short, it is a two-attack Basic with 180 HP and a Prize-card line.
Reading the Japanese Card Text
You do not need to read Japanese to check an Entei EX against the database, but a handful of printed labels do the work. The terms below appear on the Entei EX and Raikou EX rows, and the English meanings are the standard ones used in the renderings in this guide.
| Printed Japanese | Meaning | Where it appears on Entei EX |
|---|---|---|
| たね | Basic Pokémon | Stage line at the top of the database row |
| ワザ | Attack | Heads the two attack entries, ほのおのキバ and グランドフレイム |
| 特別なルール | Special rule | Carries the ポケモンEX knockout line |
| サイド | Prize cards | The knockout line says the opponent takes 2; the rules page says 6 win the game |
| やけど | Burned | The status on ほのおのキバ |
| トラッシュ | Discard pile | The source of the Energy moved by グランドフレイム |
| ベンチポケモン | Benched Pokémon | The target of that Energy |
| 弱点 / 抵抗力 / にげる | Weakness / resistance / retreat | Labels at the foot of the card; the database row shows them as symbols, so we state no values |
With that vocabulary, the database row for BW4-B 009/069 reads straight through: a Basic, 180 HP, two attacks with the names above, and a special rule for a Pokémon-EX knockout. The Raikou EX row adds マヒ (Paralyzed) on its first attack. If a card in your hand shows different attack names, a different HP or a different number, it is another print, and the set code and number identify the matching database row.
ほのおのキバ Across Entei Prints
The attack name ほのおのキバ (Flame Fang, rendering) turns up on several Entei cards with different damage numbers. The comparison is useful because it shows how a name repeats while the card changes.
| Card type | HP | ほのおのキバ damage | Effect, rendered | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SM8 022/095 (kawayoo) | Plain Entei | 130 | 20 | The opponent’s Active Pokémon is Burned. |
| BW4-B 009/069 (shizurow) | EX | 180 | 30 | The opponent’s Active Pokémon is Burned. |
| S5I 009/070, SI 055/414, SO 008/030 (kodama) | Plain Entei | 130 | 90 | The opponent’s Active Pokémon is Burned. |
| SM3p 011/072 and 073/072 (5ban Graphics) | GX | 180 | 100 | The opponent’s Active Pokémon is Burned. |
The Burn text stays the same on all of them, and the damage ranges from 20 to 100. The EX sits at 30, the second-lowest number in the table, while its second attack グランドフレイム supplies the 90. By contrast, the plain S5I, SI and SO prints put the 90 on ほのおのキバ itself and pair it with ヒートダッシュ30, which lets you attach an Energy from your hand. The GX print places the Burn at 100 and adds a GX attack, ブレイブバーンGX, which does 150 damage to one Benched Pokémon.
The GX card is shown for comparison.

A Current Box with a Beast ex: Storm Emeralda
If you want to see what the lower-case ex type looks like on a beast card, the nearest example is ライコウex in Storm Emeralda (M6). The database lists three prints: 024/076, 092/076 and 108/076, all with 200 HP and the same text. Per our legendary beasts guide, Storm Emeralda was released on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Rendered from the Japanese: いかずちをまとう can be used even on the first player’s first turn and attaches an Energy from your deck to the Pokémon before shuffling; パワーラッシュ200 is a 200-damage attack with a coin flip that, on tails, stops the Pokémon attacking on your next turn. The special rule says the opponent takes 2 Prize cards when a Pokémon ex is knocked out. The 092/076 and 108/076 prints are numbered above 76 and credit aky CG Works and Oku respectively; the box is a sealed product and does not tell you which cards are inside any given pack. Details of the set are in the M6 card list.

The Dark Rush Pair: Entei EX and Raikou EX
The same set and the same illustrator produced a Raikou counterpart. ライコウEX, BW4-B 025/069, is credited to shizurow, prints 170 HP and carries the same kind of special-rule line: when a Pokémon-EX is knocked out, the opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

| エンテイEX 009/069 | ライコウEX 025/069 | |
|---|---|---|
| Illustrator | shizurow | shizurow |
| HP | 180 | 170 |
| First attack | ほのおのキバ30: Burn | かみなりのキバ30: flip a coin; on heads the opponent’s Active Pokémon is Paralyzed |
| Second attack | グランドフレイム90: attach 1 Energy from the discard pile to a Benched Pokémon | ボルテージアロー: trash all Energy attached, then 100 damage to 1 of the opponent’s Pokémon; Bench damage ignores weakness and resistance |
| Special rule | 2 Prize cards when knocked out | 2 Prize cards when knocked out |
The pattern is visible in the names: ほのおのキバ and かみなりのキバ are a matched pair of first attacks at 30 damage each, and each second attack is different in kind. The Raikou card also exists as a secret-numbered print, 071/069, which our listing names “SR” with “1ED” (as our listing names it). We offer that print as a PSA 10 back order at ¥148,720 (~$966) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.

The set number matters here: 071/069 is numbered above the set’s 69, so it is a different card from the 025/069 Raikou EX shown above, even though the name is the same. Our Raikou coverage lives in the legendary beasts card value guide.
EX Next to the Other Entei Rule Boxes
EX is one of four Entei card types that carry a special-rule line in the official database. Each names 2 Prize cards on a knockout, and each is worded for its own type.
| Card | HP | Rule-box wording, rendered | |
|---|---|---|---|
| エンテイEX | BW4-B 009/069 | 180 | Pokémon-EX knocked out: opponent takes 2 Prize cards |
| エンテイGX | SM3p 011/072 | 180 | Pokémon-GX knocked out: opponent takes 2 Prize cards |
| エンテイV | S12a 213/172 | 230 | Pokémon V knocked out: opponent takes 2 Prize cards |
| エンテイ&ライコウLEGEND | L2-B 063/080 and 064/080 | 140 | Combine two cards on the Bench; knocked out: opponent takes 2 Prize cards |
The lower-case ex type is not present on any Entei entry in the database. A beast card with that rule line is Raikou ex M6 024/076, whose text we render in the Storm Emeralda section above. Our card types guide goes through each type with its example print and the official rules page, and it covers the upper-case and lower-case spellings together.
What the Database Shows and Does Not Show
| Question | What our sources show |
|---|---|
| Illustrator, HP, attacks, special rule | Printed on the database page for BW4-B 009/069 |
| Rarity letter | Not printed by the database; our Entei guide lists the card as a Rare |
| Set release date | Friday, December 16, 2011, per our Entei guide |
| A secret-numbered Entei EX | The database lists one Entei EX only; we state nothing beyond that |
| English card number or name | Not stated in our sources |
| Current price of the card | We do not list it, so we give no figure |
This table is also a checklist for anyone deciding whether to buy: match the number over the denominator (009/069), the HP (180), the illustrator credit (shizurow) and the ポケモンEX line before anything else. The database page and the card in your hand should agree on all four.

On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「マグマの鼓動」, which collectors read as a possible Entei set; nothing is announced. Our Magma Heartbeat trademark article (working English translation of マグマの鼓動; no official English name exists) explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the ex★ 2027 sets round-up covers the other marks.
