Pokemon Special Deck Set Charizard VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR (SO): Deck Cards and the Entei 008/030 Print

Pokemon Special Deck Set Charizard VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR (SO): Deck Cards and the Entei 008/030 Print

The Special Deck Set Charizard VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR carries the set code SO in the official Japanese card database, and it holds an Entei print: エンテイ SO 008/030, illustrated by kodama, with 130 HP. Our listing data names the product “Special Deck Set Lizardon VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR” and lists four of its cards as PSA 10 back orders. This guide sets out what the database and our listings say about the set, the Entei print, and what is missing.

The official product page for this set is not in our sources, so its Japanese name, release date, price and deck list are not given here. Every card fact below comes from the official Pokemon Card Game database (pokemon-card.com card search, read on October 29, 2026) or from the names printed on our own listings.

Key Takeaways
  • The database lists エンテイ SO 008/030 (card ID 42233): illustrator kodama, 130 HP, two attacks, Pokedex No.244 in the かざんポケモン category.
  • The same card text and illustrator credit appear on the database rows for SI 055/414 and S5I 009/070, so SO 008/030 is the third row with identical text.
  • We list the Charizard V, Charizard VSTAR, Moltres and Rayquaza VMAX cards from this set, for example the Charizard VSTAR SO 002/030 back order at ¥12,048 (~$78); the Entei is not among them.

What the SO Set Is, and What We Cannot Say About It

SO is the set code under which the official database files the Entei in this guide, and it is the code our listings print in square brackets for the Charizard, Moltres and Rayquaza cards: [SO 001/030], [SO 002/030], [SO 007/030] and [SO 016/030]. The denominator 030 is the number printed after the slash on each of them. Our listing names place all four under a Special Deck Set whose title pairs Lizardon VSTAR with a Rayquaza card. “Lizardon” is the romanised Japanese name used in our listing data for the Pokemon that English cards call Charizard.

Two spellings of the set name appear in that listing data, and the difference is worth stating plainly.

Card on our site Set name as the listing prints it
Charizard V SO 001/030 Special Deck Set Lizardon VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR
Charizard VSTAR SO 002/030 Special Deck Set Lizardon VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR
Moltres SO 007/030 Special Deck Set Lizardon VSTAR vs Rayquaza VSTAR
Rayquaza VMAX SO 016/030 Special Deck Set “Lizardon VSTAR vs Rayquaza VMAX”

Which of the two spellings matches the official product title is not in our sources, so this guide uses the title of the article only as a search phrase. The same goes for everything a buyer would normally ask first.

The SO Cards We List as PSA 10 Back Orders

Four SO cards are offered on our site as PSA 10 back orders, each sourced to order, with the product page showing the current terms. The table gives the number, the card and our listed price.

Number Card (as our listing names it) Our price
SO 001/030 PSA10 Charizard V PSA 10 back order at ¥9,233 (~$60)
SO 002/030 PSA10 Charizard VSTAR PSA 10 back order at ¥12,048 (~$78)
SO 007/030 PSA10 Moltres PSA 10 back order at ¥11,949 (~$78)
SO 016/030 PSA10 Rayquaza VMAX PSA 10 back order at ¥11,999 (~$78)

The numbers give a rough picture of how the set is laid out: Charizard V and Charizard VSTAR sit side by side at 001 and 002, Moltres at 007, Entei at 008 and Rayquaza VMAX at 016. The set count is 030, so every number here falls inside the numbered list; none of these is a secret-numbered print. We do not list a Rayquaza VSTAR from this set, and the official deck lists are not in our sources, so the numbering is the only structure we can describe.

Entei SO 008/030 in the Official Database

The database page for エンテイ SO 008/030 (card ID 42233) prints the values below.

The card text, rendered

Attack (as printed) Damage Effect, rendered
ヒートダッシュ 30 If you wish, choose 1 Energy card from your hand and attach it to this Pokemon. (rendering)
ほのおのキバ 90 Your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Burned.

The card has no ability and no special rule box in the database text: it is a plain Basic Pokemon with two attacks. That makes it a straightforward card to read, and the first attack is the only one with a choice in it. The effect text is given as the database prints it; weakness, resistance and retreat cost are not rendered here.

For the wider family of Entei cards, our Entei Pokemon card guide and the legendary beasts card value guide cover the older and newer prints.

Three Entei Rows, One Card Text

When the database rows are put side by side, SO 008/030 turns out not to be unique in its text. Two other rows carry the same rendered attacks, the same 130 HP and the same illustrator credit.

Row Card ID Illustrator HP Attacks (rendered)
Entei SI 055/414 Start Deck 100 (illustrator kodama)
Entei — SI 055/414 — Start Deck 100 (illustrator kodama)

Some conclusions follow and one does not. The three rows are separate database entries with separate IDs, so they are three distinct printings. They share a text and a credit, so a reader who holds one knows how the other two play. What a shared credit does not prove is that the artwork is the same on all three; the database credit alone does not establish that, so compare the images yourself. The SI row belongs to Start Deck 100, the 2021 random-pick starter product described in the official pages as one of 100 decks numbered 001 to 100; the SO row belongs to the Special Deck Set.

For a card that appears in a starter product and again in a deck set, the number is the first thing to check, since 008/030, 055/414 and 009/070 look alike in a binder only until you read the denominator. The Entei is not among the PSA 10 listings we carry.

The Special Deck Set Family and a Sealed One We List

The official beginner page, pokemon-card.com/about/, describes pre-built decks as the route for people who want to start battling quickly: decks of 60 cards, ready to play. It links a product it calls スペシャルデッキセットMEGA as an example. That is a MEGA-line product and not the SO set; it is named here only because it shows that Special Deck Set is a product family the official site still points beginners to.

The one Special Deck Set that we list as a sealed product is a different product from the SO set. Its listing name is Special Deck Set ex Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise. Its contents are not described in our sources beyond that name, and nothing in it is claimed to relate to the SO cards above.

If the cards, rather than a sealed set, are what you are after, the four SO back orders in the table above are the closest match to the title of this guide. For a sealed beginner deck at a lower price, our Starter Set ex comparison guide covers the single-deck starters.

Reading the Numbers and the Deck Rules

A Japanese card shows its number as position over set count. All five SO cards in this guide have positions between 001 and 016 over a count of 030, so each sits inside the numbered list. That is the opposite of the secret-numbered prints, where the position is higher than the count.

For the Entei with identical text, the number and the set code separate the three printings at a glance.

What the card shows Print it points to
008/030 with the set code SO The Special Deck Set print, database ID 42233
055/414 with the set code SI The Start Deck 100 print, database ID 40545
009/070 with the set code S5I The S5I print, database ID 39069
Any other Entei number A different print; compare its text and illustrator credit against the database

A graded slab prints the number on its label, so the label is the quickest check before you pay for a card of any of these three. If the slab and the card disagree, that is a reason to stop and ask, not to guess.

The official beginner pages set the rules a deck built from these cards has to follow.

Official rule (pokemon-card.com/howtoplay) Why it matters for the SO cards
A deck is 60 cards. A deck set is sold as a playable 60-card build; singles are for customising or collecting.
Up to 4 cards with the same name; basic Energy is exempt. The limit is by name. The official example is that Pikachu and Pikachu ex count as different names.
At least 1 Basic Pokemon; evolutions need their earlier stage. Entei SO 008/030 is a Basic, so it can start in the Active Spot on its own.
Take 6 Prize cards to win. Applies to every deck regardless of set.

Format legality is a separate question. The official regulation page states that Standard, as of the page’s January 22, 2026 update, allows cards marked H, I or J, in effect from Friday, January 23, 2026, and that the Extra format runs from the BW series to the newest sets. The regulation mark printed on the SO cards is not in our sources, and neither is the SO release date, so this guide does not say which format these cards are legal in. Check the mark in the corner of the card against the official regulation page before a tournament.

On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「バトルスタートデッキ」 (working English translation: Battle Start Deck; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible beginner-deck product; nothing is announced. Our Battle Start Deck trademark guide explains what is confirmed and what is not, and our round-up of the 2027 trademark reports sets it beside the other three names reported the same day.

Yes. The database rows for SI 055/414 and S5I 009/070 show the same attacks, 130 HP and the same illustrator credit, kodama. They are separate printings with separate card IDs; whether the artwork matches is not established by the credit alone.

Which SO cards do you list?

No. Its position, 008, is inside the printed set count of 030, so it is a regular numbered card. The database does not print a rarity letter for it.
