Pokemon Center Pikachu Promo Cards: Regional Guide

Pokemon Center Pikachu Promo Cards: Regional Guide

A Pikachu that only exists because a store reopened. That’s the entire premise behind Japan’s Pokemon Center regional promos — and we cover six of them — five currently in stock, plus the sold-out Kanazawa 147 — from a 2016 giveaway to a 2025 lottery trio, ranging from a ¥16,625 sealed box up to a one-of-one PSA 10 listed at ¥307,146.

Pokemon Center Japan has quietly built a parallel collecting lane around these cards: a different Pikachu illustration tied to one specific store, with each one a one-time release, released only around that store’s reopening or relaunch. Six store-specific Pikachu exist in our catalog so far — Sapporo (2016), Kanazawa (2020, in two versions people mix up constantly), and the 2025 trio of Tohoku, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. A seventh, Tohoku’s original 2017 promo, sits in our system as an unpublished draft with no stock, so it gets a mention for lineage only, not a listing.

This guide prices every regional Pikachu we currently have in stock, untangles the two Kanazawa versions, and walks through the 2025 Special BOX trio — sealed product that ships the promo alongside a deck shield, deck case and card box. Every price below is our own Tokyo warehouse listing as of August 12, 2026, not a third-party market estimate.

Key Takeaway

Six Pokemon Center regional Pikachu promos — five in stock, from a ¥16,625 sealed box to a ¥307,146 PSA 10 single. The Fukuoka Pikachu (289/SV-P) and the Tohoku Special BOX (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) are the easiest entry points; the Sapporo Pikachu (005/SM-P) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) is our one-of-one top anchor.

The pattern across all six is the same: each was a one-time release tied to one store’s reopening or relaunch, sold through a limited window. The sections below cover each era — the 2025 trio, the two Kanazawa versions, and the 2016 original — in detail.

The 2025 Special BOX Trio: Tohoku, Hiroshima & Fukuoka

Pokemon Center Japan announced three regional Special BOX products in 2025 — ポケモンセンタートウホク (Tohoku), ポケモンセンターヒロシマ (Hiroshima) and ポケモンセンターフクオカ (Fukuoka) — each retailing at ¥2,090 (tax included) and commemorating that store’s reopening. Every box shared the same structure: one mirror-holofoil promo Pikachu, a 64-card deck shield, a deck case, and a long card storage box, sold exclusively by lottery on Pokemon Center Online.

Fukuoka's Pikachu 289/SV-P, Mirror Holofoil, SV-P Promo

Fukuoka’s Pikachu 289/SV-P

Check the Card Number

Fukuoka’s Pikachu is numbered 289/SV-P. A different SV-P promo, 262, exists in the same series but is a Psyduck card — if a listing cites 262 for Fukuoka’s Pikachu, it’s using the wrong number.

Officially, each box sold through the lottery at ¥2,090. With the original lottery long over, we list the sealed boxes as secondary stock:

Special BOX Contains Our stock
Pokemon Center Tohoku Special BOX Tohoku’s Pikachu 260/SV-P + deck shield + deck case + card box 112 currently listed at ¥16,625 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)
Pokemon Center Hiroshima Special BOX Hiroshima’s Pikachu 261/SV-P + same supply set 17 currently listed at ¥21,000 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)
Pokemon Center Fukuoka Special BOX Fukuoka’s Pikachu 289/SV-P + same supply set 12 currently listed at ¥17,575 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)

Buying the sealed box gets you the promo, deck shield and deck case together for less than most of the loose singles above — the Tohoku box in particular is our highest-volume, lowest-price way into this whole category.

Kanazawa’s Two Pikachus: 144 vs 147

Kanazawa stands out for having two distinct Pikachu promos from a single release. On November 20, 2020, Pokemon Center released the スペシャルBOX ポケモンセンターカナザワオープン記念 (¥5,104, tax included), a 19-booster box that also included three kira promo cards — the Kanazawa Pikachu, Milotic (145/S-P), and Sobble (146/S-P) — plus a Kanazawa-art card storage box and a 64-card deck shield.

147/S-P is the one that came inside the BOX — mirror holofoil, no Pokemon Center logo anywhere on the card, illustrated by Fuzichoco. 144/S-P was distributed separately as a plain holofoil card, handed to customers who visited a Pokemon Center or Pokemon Store location, and carries the Pokemon Center Kanazawa logo printed in the bottom right.

Check This First

Logo in the bottom right = 144 (one copy is currently listed at ¥71,956). No logo anywhere on the card = 147 (currently sold out; last listed at ¥217,927).

The companion promos from the same box — Milotic (145/S-P) and Sobble (146/S-P) — aren’t individually listed on our site right now, so this guide covers the Pikachu only.

Sapporo 2016: Where the Regional Pikachu Series Began

Sapporo's Pikachu 005/SM-P, Holofoil, SM-P Promo
Sapporo’s Pikachu, 005/SM-P — our highest-priced regional promo, one-of-one in stock

The first store-specific Pikachu was Sapporo’s Pikachu, 005/SM-P, distributed starting December 1, 2016 to celebrate the reopening of Pokemon Center Sapporo. It carries an updated Pokemon Center Sapporo logo and was illustrated by kawayoo, under the campaign name アローラロコンとゆきまつりキャンペーン (the “Alolan Vulpix and Snow Festival” campaign). Distribution was nationwide plus online — one card per five booster packs purchased at any Pokemon Center, Pokemon Store, or Pokemon Center Online, while stocks lasted — not a Sapporo-store-only exclusive despite the name.

We currently hold this as a PSA 10, one-of-one stock at ¥307,146 (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) — our highest-priced listing across the entire regional Pikachu lineup, and the oldest.

A year later, Pokemon Center Tohoku ran its own reopening promo (088/SM-P, 2017) using the same “one per five packs” distribution model. We don’t currently have stock of that one, so it appears in this guide as lineage context, not as a listing.

Which Regional Pikachu Fits Your Budget

Working from our current listings, here’s how the six promos break down by spend:

One-of-One Stock

The Sapporo and Kanazawa 144 singles are both one-of-one — when either sells, it’s gone, and we won’t have a second copy to relist.

Why These Promos Command a Premium

None of these six cards is cheap relative to a standard set promo, and three things explain why:

  1. Lottery-only distribution. The 2025 trio sold exclusively through a lottery on Pokemon Center Online — applications ran June 13–17, 2025 — not through open retail. Anyone who didn’t win has to buy secondary.
  2. A one-time event finish. Every one of the six is a mirror holofoil or holofoil promo exclusive to that release.
  3. Permanent store-specific commemoration. Each card commemorates one specific store event and was never made available again.

That combination is the whole appeal for collectors who treat Pokemon Center regional promos as their own category, separate from set chase cards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fukuoka’s Pikachu 289/SV-P or 262/SV-P?

289/SV-P. A different promo, 262/SV-P, exists in the same SV-P series but is a Psyduck card — if a listing cites 262 for Fukuoka’s Pikachu, it’s using the wrong number.

What’s the difference between the two Kanazawa Pikachu promos?

144/S-P has the Pokemon Center Kanazawa logo printed in the bottom right and was given to customers visiting the store in 2020. 147/S-P has no logo and came packed inside the Kanazawa Special BOX. Both are from the same 2020 release; only the logo and original distribution method separate them.

How was the 2025 Tohoku/Hiroshima/Fukuoka trio sold?

By lottery on Pokemon Center Online only. Applications ran June 13–17, 2025, and each Special BOX (¥2,090 retail) shipped between August and September 2025 to commemorate that store’s reopening. None were sold through open retail.

Which Pokemon Center regional Pikachu is the most expensive?

Based on our current stock, Sapporo’s Pikachu (005/SM-P, PSA 10) is our highest listing at ¥307,146, and it’s one-of-one. That reflects our own inventory, not a third-party price guide.

Are there other Pokemon Center regional Pikachu promos besides these six?

Likely — Pokemon Center has run store-specific promos beyond the ones covered here. This guide only covers the six we’ve verified — five of which are currently in stock, so treat it as our catalog rather than a complete list of every regional Pikachu ever made.
