One Pokemon, four separate print runs, and the top one is a UR that released the same day as its sister set covering the opposite timeline’s Paradox Pokemon. That’s Ancient Roar in a sentence — a 94-card Japanese expansion where Roaring Moon ex receives four printings and anchors the set. This Ancient Roar card list covers every card and rarity in the set, tier by tier.
Ancient Roar (古代の咆哮, set code SV4K) released in Japan on October 27, 2023, as one half of a same-day dual release with sister set Future Flash (SV4M). Ancient Roar is built around the ancient-form Paradox Pokemon associated with Scarlet — the alternate-timeline creatures introduced alongside the Scarlet & Violet video games — while Future Flash mirrors it with the future-form Paradox Pokemon tied to Violet. This is the full numbered checklist for Ancient Roar — every Art Rare, Secret Rare, Special Art Rare, and Ultra Rare, transcribed number-for-number from Limitless TCG’s set data, plus a summary of the 66-card base set.
Splitting a single storyline across two same-day sets, one per version of the base game, is a pattern the Scarlet & Violet era leans on repeatedly in Japan — Snow Hazard and Clay Burst (SV2P/SV2D) followed the same structure five months earlier. For collectors, that means Ancient Roar’s 94-card checklist is only half of the October 2023 picture; anyone chasing the full Paradox roster from this release window needs both sets.
Ancient Roar (SV4K) totals 94 cards — a 66-card base set plus a 28-card secret-rarity run (12 AR, 9 SR, 5 SAR, 2 UR). Roaring Moon ex (トドロクツキex) is printed across four tiers — RR 054/066, SR 084/066, SAR 090/066, and UR 093/066 — and Ancient Roar shares its October 27, 2023 release date with sister set Future Flash (SV4M), about a week ahead of the English-language Paradox Rift (Nov 3, 2023).
Our sealed Ancient Roar (SV4K) box is currently listed at ¥10,192 (~$64), shipped from Tokyo with tracked delivery.

What Is Ancient Roar (SV4K)?
Ancient Roar is Japan’s Each pack contains 5 cards at an MSRP of ¥180 (tax included), and a sealed box holds 30 packs for a Japan domestic box MSRP of ¥5,400 (~$37).
The base set runs card numbers 001–066, and the secret-rarity run picks up at 067 and continues through 094 — 28 cards split across Art Rare, Secret Rare, Special Art Rare, and Ultra Rare:
| Tier | Card range | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Base set | 001–066 | 66 |
| Art Rare (AR) | 067–078 | 12 |
| Secret Rare (SR) | 079–087 | 9 |
| Special Art Rare (SAR) | 088–092 | 5 |
| Ultra Rare (UR) | 093–094 | 2 |
| Total | — | 94 |
Ancient Roar is built around Paradox Pokemon — the ancient-form variants introduced alongside Scarlet & Violet — and released as a dual set alongside Future Flash (SV4M), covered further down. For pull-rate context and best-card discussion, see our Ancient Roar pull rates & best cards article. This page is the numbered checklist; for the full base set with images, see the SV4K card list page.
At ¥180 per 5-card pack, Ancient Roar works out to ¥36 per card at Japan retail before any secondary-market premium on the higher tiers — the same per-pack MSRP as the earlier SV-era Japanese sets in this line, and a useful baseline when comparing it against later, pricier releases. A full box of 30 packs delivers 150 cards, with every secret-tier pull — AR through UR — coming out of that same random pool.
Ancient Roar Card List by Rarity: AR, SR, SAR & UR
All 28 cards below are transcribed directly from Limitless TCG’s set data for SV4K (Japanese names as catalogued). English localizations were not independently confirmed for every card in this research pass, so names are shown as transcribed in Japanese.
The four tiers step up in scarcity in order: Art Rare (AR) reprints existing base-set Pokemon as full-art cards; Secret Rare (SR) covers the set’s ex-Pokemon and top Supporters in a holo-textured finish; Special Art Rare (SAR) re-illustrates a subset of those same ex-Pokemon and Supporters with new, full-bleed artwork; and Ultra Rare (UR) sits at the top of the ladder, reserved here for just two cards. Every card number below continues Ancient Roar’s numbering past the 66-card base set, so a card listed as “090/066” is card 90 of a checklist whose base set tops out at 66.
Art Rare (AR) — 067/066–078/066
| No. | Name (JP) | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
Secret Rare (SR) — 079/066–087/066
| No. | Name (JP) | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
Roaring Moon ex (トドロクツキex) is printed four times in Ancient Roar — RR 054/066 in the base set, SR 084/066, SAR 090/066, and UR 093/066. No other Pokemon in this set gets more than two secret-rarity printings.
Special Art Rare (SAR) — 088/066–092/066
| No. | Name (JP) | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
Note that not every SR-tier ex gets a Special Art Rare: グレンアルマex (079), アマージョex (080), and デスカーンex (082) stop at SR, while グソクムシャex, スナノケガワex, and Roaring Moon ex continue on to SAR. (086) also stops at SR — only オーリム博士の気迫 and メロコ among the Supporters carry through to the SAR tier.
Ultra Rare (UR) — 093/066–094/066
| No. | Name (JP) | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
Card 094, ゴージャスマント, is an Item card with no base-set counterpart — it exists only at the UR tier, unlike most of the secret run, which reprints existing base cards at higher finishes. Pull-rate discussion for how often each tier actually comes out of a box is covered separately in our Ancient Roar pull rates & best cards article; this page is the checklist.
The 66-Card Base Set
Cards 001–066 make up Ancient Roar’s base set, running from Common up through Rare and Double Rare (RR).
Six of those slots are Double Rare (RR) ex-Pokemon, and every one of them continues on into the secret-rarity run above: グレンアルマex (015/066), アマージョex (020/066), グソクムシャex (022/066), デスカーンex (031/066), スナノケガワex (042/066), and Roaring Moon ex (054/066).
The rest of the base set is filled out with Common, Uncommon, and Rare Pokemon and Trainer cards — the ordinary pulls that make up the bulk of every pack. A few of those base-rarity Pokemon get a second life later in the checklist: the entire 12-card Art Rare tier is built from base-set Pokemon reprinted as full art, a pattern broken down in the next section. Three Uncommon Supporters close out the base numbering at 064–066 — オーリム博士の気迫, Senri, and Meroko — and each of those three also continues into the SR tier, and two of the three into the SAR tier as well.
For the complete numbered base checklist (Commons through Rares, with images), see our SV4K card list page, which carries the full base set alongside high-res card photos.
The Chase: Roaring Moon ex, Four Ways
Ancient Roar’s headline chase is Roaring Moon ex (トドロクツキex) — the set’s top-tier Ultra Rare, but also the only Pokemon in the set printed across four separate tiers.

| Printing | Number | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Roaring Moon ex | 054/066 | RR (Double Rare) |
| Roaring Moon ex | 084/066 | SR (Secret Rare) |
| Roaring Moon ex | 090/066 | SAR (Special Art Rare) |
| Roaring Moon ex | 093/066 | UR (Ultra Rare) |
The SAR (090/066) pictured above is the special-art textured printing collectors reference as the headline card of the set. The UR (093/066) is the highest rarity in the set; SAR (090/066) is the verified headline chase, alongside the set’s other UR,
The RR (054/066) and SR (084/066) printings are the more attainable versions — standard holofoil and secret-rare treatments of the same Pokemon, without the special-art or ultra-rare finishes. If your goal is to own the card rather than chase the top tier, these are the entry point; check our Quick Order page for availability on individual Ancient Roar singles by number.
Running a single Pokemon through four consecutive rarity tiers — base RR, then SR, SAR, and UR in the secret run — makes Roaring Moon ex the set’s most repeated Pokemon, and Ancient Roar reserves that treatment for Roaring Moon ex alone. Every other ex-Pokemon in the set (グレンアルマ, アマージョ, グソクムシャ, デスカーン, スナノケガワ) tops out at either SR or SAR, never reaching a fourth printing or the UR tier. That structural gap separates Roaring Moon ex’s four-printing run from the other five ex-Pokemon in the set, independent of any secondary-market pricing.
Graded singles we list are PSA10 copies we source and price ourselves; check individual product pages for current listings and pricing.
The Art Rare Tier: Full-Art Reprints of the Base Set
Unlike the SR/SAR/UR tiers, which mostly recolor and re-illustrate the set’s ex-Pokemon and Supporters, the 12-card Art Rare tier (067–078) reprints twelve base-rarity Pokemon — each AR card shares its Japanese name with an earlier, lower-rarity base-set number, now rendered as a full-art card.
ミガルーサ (pictured above, 070/066 AR) is the same Pokemon as the Uncommon base card at 026/066, and ダストダス (075/066 AR) matches the Uncommon base card at 050/066. The same pattern holds across the tier: 067/066 matches base 005/066, 068/066 matches 010/066, 069/066 matches 021/066, 071/066 matches 032/066, 072/066 matches 034/066, 073/066 matches 040/066, 074/066 matches 041/066, 076/066 matches 051/066, 077/066 matches 053/066, and 078/066 matches 056/066. None of the twelve AR cards are ex-Pokemon — the ex lineup is reserved for the SR/SAR/UR tiers covered above.
For a collector building out a set, that distinction matters: the AR tier is a parallel gallery of ordinary Pokemon you likely already have in your binder at Common, Uncommon, or Rare, now re-rendered as full-bleed illustrated cards, while the SR/SAR/UR run is entirely about the set’s ex-Pokemon lineup and headline Supporters. Pulling all twelve AR cards means finding a full-art version of every Pokemon on this list — イワパレス, ブビィ, コソクムシ, ミガルーサ, サケブシッポ, コジョンド, キョジオーン, チヲハウハネ, ダストダス, モルペコ, アラブルタケ, and ドゴーム — a separate, parallel checklist from the ex chase covered above.
Packs, Boxes & Pricing
Ancient Roar’s official MSRP is ¥180 (tax included) per 5-card pack. A sealed box holds 30 packs for a Japan domestic box MSRP of ¥5,400 (~$37).
That’s the Japan retail price, not an imported, tracked-shipping price landed internationally. Our sealed Ancient Roar box is currently listed at ¥10,192 (~$64), shipped from Tokyo with tracked delivery.
Ancient Roar is now more than two years past its original October 2023 release. Buyers weighing a purchase should keep in mind that every AR, SR, SAR, and UR pull, including all four Roaring Moon ex printings, comes out of the same 94-card checklist; a sealed box contains 150 cards total (30 packs of 5), with no way to target a specific tier within that random pool.

Ancient Roar’s Sister Set & English Counterpart
Ancient Roar didn’t release alone. Japan’s Scarlet & Violet expansions frequently ship in same-day pairs built around a single storyline, and SV4K’s other half is Future Flash (未来の一閃, SV4M), released the same day, October 27, 2023. Ancient Roar collects the ancient-form Paradox Pokemon associated with Scarlet, while Future Flash covers the futuristic-form Paradox Pokemon associated with Violet.
Internationally, both sets feed into a single English release: Paradox Rift, published November 3, 2023 — roughly a week after the Japanese dual release. Paradox Rift combines Ancient Roar and Future Flash with a Raging Surf subset and Terastal Starter Set cards into a 266-card English set, so any given Ancient Roar card has an English-language equivalent, just not always at the same card number.
That means Roaring Moon ex, the star of the Japanese checklist above, is also the marquee ex-Pokemon in Paradox Rift’s English cardpool — but the two products aren’t a one-to-one match. Paradox Rift folds in cards from a Raging Surf subset and the Terastal Starter Set on top of Ancient Roar and Future Flash, so its 266-card total is substantially larger than either individual Japanese set, and English collectors chasing a specific Ancient Roar printing (say, the SAR 090/066) are looking at a different card number and finish in the Western product, not an identical reprint.
This research pass found no verified official reprint announcement for Ancient Roar; reprint history remains unconfirmed.
