Heracross full art cards in the Japanese Pokemon TCG start with one Art Rare, the SV2D Clay Burst 072/071. Around it sits a quiet, consistent run of Commons and Uncommons that stretches back to 2009 and is still going in 2026, with a stop in nearly every major set era along the way.
We ship Japanese sealed product and singles out of Tokyo.
Heracross has appeared in at least five Japanese printings between 2019 and 2026 — Common or Uncommon, plus one Art Rare (the full art card) in SV2D Clay Burst at 072/071. A possible earlier printing from the 2009 L1 HeartGold Collection set is sourced from Bulbapedia and marketplace listings.

Heracross Full Art Cards: The Clay Burst Art Rare and Key Japanese Prints
Collectors use “full art” for prints whose artwork fills the whole card face. Japanese sets do not print those words: the official card database prints only a rarity code, and the full-art treatments are the SR (full-art ex and Supporter cards), SAR (Special Art Rare), AR (Art Rare), CHR / CSR (Character Rare) and the gold UR and rainbow HR printings. Among the Heracross prints covered here, the Art Rare (AR) 072/071 from SV2D Clay Burst is the one with an art rarity code.
For how the treatments differ across sets, see our full art Pokemon cards guide.
Confirmed Heracross Printings
The Japanese Heracross cards covered here, in release order:
| Card | Set | Released | Number | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heracross | L1 HeartGold Collection (unconfirmed) | 2009 | 012/070 | Uncommon |
| Heracross | SM11a Remix Bout | 2019-07-05 | 004/064 | Common |
| Heracross | S9a Battle Region | 2022-02-25 | 005/067 | Common |
| Heracross | SV2D Clay Burst | 2023-04-14 | 006/071 | Uncommon |
| Heracross | SV2D Clay Burst | 2023-04-14 | 072/071 | Art Rare |
| Heracross | M6 Storm Emeralda | 2026-07-31 | 001/076 | Common |
The 2009 L1 HeartGold Collection 012/070 Uncommon number and set come from Bulbapedia and matching marketplace listings rather than a Limitless TCG card page.
Everything from 2019 onward is a Common or Uncommon, plus one Art Rare, as listed on Limitless TCG’s individual card pages.
A quick note on how to read the numbers: the second half of a Japanese TCG card number (the “071” in 006/071, for example) is the size of that set’s core print run, not a separate identifier. So SV2D Clay Burst’s core set runs 71 cards, M6 Storm Emeralda’s runs 76, and S9a Battle Region’s runs at least 67. Anything numbered above that denominator — like Heracross’s 072/071 Art Rare — is a secret or “chase” slot printed beyond the base set, which is exactly why Art Rares, Special Art Rares, and secret rares always carry a number higher than the set’s stated total.
2019: Remix Bout (SM11a)

Heracross’s first confirmed appearance from 2019 onward comes from Remix Bout (SM11a), a 73-card Sun & Moon-era set released on July 5, 2019. Heracross sits at 004/064 as a Common — a standard, non-evolved printing with no alternate art or secret-slot treatment.
The 004/064 number places Heracross well inside the core set rather than in one of the set’s higher-numbered chase slots, consistent with a Common’s usual position near the front of a set’s Pokemon lineup. Remix Bout is a Sun & Moon-block set, the same broad era covered by several other character guides on this site, so if you’re already collecting from that period, this is one more confirmed stop to add to a Sun & Moon-era binder.
Remix Bout booster boxes are currently listed at ¥100,465 (~$652) (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) — the highest per-box price of the four sets in this guide.
2022: Battle Region (S9a)

Three years later, Heracross reappears in Battle Region (S9a), released February 25, 2022, at 005/067, again as a Common. The set’s core run covers at least 67 cards, and Heracross’s low card number — fifth in the set — puts it near the very front of that lineup.
Battle Region is a Sword & Shield-era set, and it’s also where Radiant Heatran lives, so it’s a set worth knowing if you’re building out a broader Sword & Shield-era collection alongside your Heracross collection. Like the Remix Bout printing before it, this is a standard Common with no alternate-art treatment — another set where Heracross shows up as a routine, non-chase card rather than a headline pull.
Battle Region booster boxes are currently listed at ¥13,642 (~$89).
2023: Clay Burst (SV2D) — Two Rarities
Clay Burst (SV2D), released April 14, 2023, is the only set in this guide where Heracross gets two distinct treatments. The base printing sits at 006/071 as an Uncommon — a step up from the Commons in Remix Bout and Battle Region — and the same set also carries an Art Rare version at 072/071, the only Art Rare Heracross covered here.
The jump from 006/071 to 072/071 tells you exactly what kind of card the Art Rare is: with Clay Burst’s core set running 71 cards, anything numbered 072 or higher sits in the secret-slot range reserved for the set’s premium alternate-art pulls. That makes Clay Burst the one Heracross set in this guide with a genuine chase-tier printing, alongside its plain Uncommon.
Clay Burst is the set to check first if you specifically want the Art Rare. The Clay Burst booster box Sealed option is currently listed at ¥11,835 (~$77).
2026: Storm Emeralda (M6)

Heracross’s most recent confirmed printing is also its most prominent numbering: it opens the set as 001/076, a Common, in Storm Emeralda (M6), which released July 31, 2026. Being card #1 in a current-era Mega set doesn’t change its rarity, but it does mean Heracross is one of the first cards collectors see when they build a Storm Emeralda master set.
Storm Emeralda’s core set runs 76 cards, and like every other confirmed Heracross printing except the Clay Burst Art Rare, this one is a standard, non-secret Common. What’s changed across seven years and four sets is the release era and the surrounding set, not Heracross’s own treatment — from Remix Bout in 2019 through to this current Mega-era set, Heracross has consistently landed as a base-set Common or Uncommon, with the Art Rare as the single exception.
The Storm Emeralda booster box Sealed option is currently listed at ¥10,150 (~$66); the No Shrink option is sold out at the time of this update.
What “Common,” “Uncommon,” and “Art Rare” Mean Here
Heracross’s print history is a useful, low-stakes example of how Japanese Pokemon TCG rarity actually works, because five of its six confirmed printings sit at the two most basic tiers:
- Common: the base tier, printed in the highest volume within a set. Three of Heracross’s confirmed printings — Remix Bout, Battle Region, and Storm Emeralda — are Commons.
- Uncommon: one step above Common, still part of the set’s core numbering. Both the 2009 L1 HeartGold Collection entry (unconfirmed) and the Clay Burst 006/071 printing sit at this tier.
- Art Rare: a secret, above-the-set-total slot with alternate illustration work, reserved for a small number of cards per set. Heracross’s only confirmed Art Rare is Clay Burst 072/071.
None of Heracross’s confirmed printings reach GX, ex, V, or Special Art Rare tier — the higher-value chase categories that usually anchor a set’s marketing.

Sealed booster boxes for Remix Bout, Battle Region, Clay Burst, and Storm Emeralda are currently listed — each is the set that prints a confirmed Heracross card. To identify which printing a physical card belongs to, check the number in the bottom corner: 004/064 for Remix Bout, 005/067 for Battle Region, 006/071 or 072/071 for Clay Burst, and 001/076 for Storm Emeralda. Each printing has a distinct number and set code, so the number alone identifies the set and rarity.
