Zero booster packs in one box. Thirty in the other. Both are called the flagship 30th-anniversary box for their language, and they are not the same product at all.
Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX released on 2026-09-16 alongside the rest of the M6a 30th CELEBRATION lineup, priced at ¥27,500 tax-in, and it contains no booster packs whatsoever — just two guaranteed Futuristic Rare (FUR) Pikachu ex promos and a stack of accessories. The English Ultra Premium Collection Day & Night is a different animal: 29 booster packs plus one Classic Collection pack and two foil promos (a Pikachu ex plus an Espeon ex or Umbreon ex), priced by US retailers around $179.99 each, and it is scheduled for 2026-11-06, after the Japanese launch on 2026-09-16.
We ship Japanese 30th Celebration sealed product out of Tokyo, so this comparison is written from the Japanese-market side — we do not carry the English UPC. Every figure below cites an official Pokemon page, a listed US retailer MSRP, or a live Samurai Sword Tokyo product page.
The JP FUTURISTIC BOX (¥27,500 MSRP, released 2026-09-16) has zero booster packs and two FUR-spec Pikachu ex promos included; our listing is sold out at the time of this update. The EN Ultra Premium Collection Day & Night ($179.99 each, retailer-listed, scheduled for 2026-11-06) has 30 packs and two foil promos per box (Pikachu ex plus Espeon ex or Umbreon ex). If you want Japanese packs from the same M6a set, Samurai Sword Tokyo’s M6a 30th CELEBRATION Booster Box has its No Shrink option currently listed at ¥25,117 (~$163); the Sealed option is sold out at the time of this update (sourcing requests go through Quick Order).
- The M6a booster box, the Premium Deck Set and the FUTURISTIC BOX were released in Japan on September 16, 2026; the English Booster Bundle and Mini Tins followed on October 2, 2026.
- Still upcoming per the official English product pages: Battle Decks (October 30), the Ultra Premium Collections Day & Night (November 6) and the Binder Collection (December 4).
- Our M6a booster box: No Shrink option currently listed at ¥25,117 (~$163); the Sealed option is sold out at the time of this update. Our FUTURISTIC BOX is sold out at the time of this update.
- Each English UPC holds two promos (a Pikachu ex plus an Espeon ex or Umbreon ex) and one Classic Collection pack of 3 cards among its 30 packs.
- Full card list: every card of the set with its official image, in number order — 30th CELEBRATION (M6a) card list (all 173 cards).
Older conversions in this article use ¥147/USD; figures added in the October 19, 2026 update convert at ¥154/USD, approximate. The $179.99 UPC figure is a retailer-listed price, not a price published on the official pokemon.com product gallery page.
What the FUTURISTIC BOX and the UPC Actually Are
Both products sit at the top end of their respective 30th Celebration lineups, and both are built around a Pikachu ex promo pair split into “Day” and “Night” versions. Beyond that, the two boxes are built on opposite premises.
Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX is a promo-and-accessory box: no random packs, two guaranteed cards, everything else is display and storage gear. It released on day one of the M6a set, 2026-09-16, at an official ¥27,500 tax-in MSRP.
The English Ultra Premium Collection is a pack-heavy box built around the same Day/Night promo concept, but sold as two separate SKUs (Day and Night, purchased individually) rather than one box containing both. It is also a fourth-wave release, scheduled for 2026-11-06 — after three earlier English waves (16 September, 2 October and 30 October).
Inside Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX
The official product page confirmed release on 2026-09-16 at ¥27,500 tax-in. Contents: 2 Pikachu ex FUR promos (numbered 131/M-P and 132/M-P per compiled checklists, as the official page does not print the numbers — a bright and a night-inspired design, per Japanese media), coins, metal dice and markers, 64 card sleeves, a deck case, a display frame, a rubber playmat and storage cases. There are no booster packs of any kind in this box.
The official product page lists the FUTURISTIC BOX as handled only through Pokémon Center Online (it may later be sold at Pokémon Centers and Stores). Pokémon Center Online lottery notices for 30th anniversary products are dated August 21 and September 29, 2026.
That last point is worth repeating because it is easy to assume otherwise from the name alone: FUTURISTIC BOX is not a booster-pack product. Every card inside it is a fixed, guaranteed promo — there is no random pull, and no chance of pulling anything other than the two listed Pikachu ex FUR cards.
For dated history, the lowest asking price on SNKRDUNK for a sealed FUTURISTIC BOX was ¥115,000 on September 1, ¥95,998 on September 10 and ¥49,500 on September 16, 2026; there is no current figure in this update. Asking prices are not sale prices. Our own FUTURISTIC BOX listing is sold out at the time of this update — sourcing requests go through Quick Order.
Inside the English Ultra Premium Collection Day & Night
Per the official Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration Product Showcase, each UPC (Day or Night, sold as separate boxes) contains 29 30th Celebration booster packs plus 1 Classic Collection booster pack (3 cards) — 30 total booster packs — along with one foil Pikachu ex promo (day- or night-themed, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN), one foil Espeon ex promo (Day box) or Umbreon ex promo (Night box), a playmat, 65 sleeves, a deck box, a metal coin, six damage-counter dice and a Pokemon TCG Live code. US retailer-listed MSRP is $179.99 per box (~¥26,460).
Whether the UPC’s Pikachu ex promo actually carries the FUR treatment is not stated on the official page — that detail is unverified. Per compiled checklists, the Day and Night Pikachu ex promos are catalogued as MEP EN 107 (day) and 109 (night), with the Espeon ex promo at 108 and the Umbreon ex promo at 110. What is confirmed is the Espeon ex / Umbreon ex tie-in, which mirrors the full-art promos in Japan’s Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon, a separate JP product that released the same day.
Side-by-Side Comparison Table
| Feature | JP FUTURISTIC BOX | EN UPC Day & Night |
|---|---|---|
| Release date | 2026-09-16 | 2026-11-06 (scheduled) |
| Price | ¥27,500 tax-in (official MSRP) | $179.99 each (retailer-listed) |
| Booster packs | 0 | 30 (29 set packs + 1 Classic Collection pack) |
| Guaranteed chase promos | 2 Pikachu ex FUR (131/M-P + 132/M-P per compiled checklists — bright / night-inspired per JP media, both in one box) | 1 Pikachu ex promo per box (Day or Night, boxes sold separately) |
| Secondary promo | — (none beyond the two Pikachu ex FUR) | 1 Espeon ex (Day) or Umbreon ex (Night) foil promo |
| Accessories | Coins, metal dice/markers, 64 sleeves, deck case, display frame, rubber playmat, storage cases | Playmat, 65 sleeves, deck box, metal coin, 6 damage-counter dice, TCG Live code |
| Sold as | One box, both Day and Night promos included | Two separate boxes (Day and Night purchased individually) |
The gap in booster-pack count is the single biggest structural difference. Anyone buying the FUTURISTIC BOX for the packs will be disappointed — it has none. Anyone buying the UPC expecting both Pikachu ex designs is buying the wrong box; each UPC SKU holds one Pikachu ex promo (Day or Night) plus an Espeon ex or Umbreon ex promo, while the FUTURISTIC BOX holds both Pikachu ex designs in one box.
The FUR Question: Are the Promos the Same Rarity?
It is easy to conflate three different “FUR” cards in this set, so it is worth separating them cleanly. Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103 are the base M6a set’s Futuristic Rare pulls — both illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, and both obtained from ordinary M6a booster packs (or the M6a Booster Box), not from either anniversary box discussed here.
The FUTURISTIC BOX’s own Pikachu ex FUR promos (131/M-P Day, 132/M-P Night) are a separate pair with separate numbering (the official FUTURISTIC BOX product page describes the two Pikachu ex FUR promos but does not print the numbers) — they are guaranteed inclusions in that box, not a pull from packs.
The English UPC’s Pikachu ex promo is described on the official showcase only as a “foil” promo illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN; whether it uses the FUR finish specifically is not stated; the official page does not describe it as a Futuristic Rare.
Release Timing: September 16 vs November 6
The Japanese announcement describes 30th Celebration as the first worldwide simultaneous product (some regions excepted), with a common 2026-09-16 date. In practice, that simultaneity applied to the base sets and to Japan’s full day-one lineup — the M6a BOX, the Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon, and the FUTURISTIC BOX all released together on 2026-09-16.
English releases are staggered across five separate waves instead: Wave 1 (ETB, Pokemon Center ETB, ex Boxes, Poster Collection, Tech Sticker Collections, Knock Out Collection, 2-Pack Blister) on 2026-09-16; Wave 2 (Booster Bundle, Mini Tins) on 2026-10-02 (released); Wave 3 (Battle Decks) on 2026-10-30; Wave 4 (Ultra Premium Collections, Ditto Premium Collection, Figure Collections) on 2026-11-06; Wave 5 (Binder Collection) on 2026-12-04. Waves 3 to 5 are still upcoming as of October 19, 2026.
That places the UPC’s scheduled release (2026-11-06) after both the JP FUTURISTIC BOX (2026-09-16) and the English set’s own first wave (2026-09-16). If you are comparing the two as “the flagship 30th box in each language,” the Japanese product was released on day one, and the English equivalent is scheduled for November 6.
Which One Fits Your Collection
- Want the two FUR Pikachu ex promos with no randomness — the FUTURISTIC BOX includes both, in one box. Our listing is sold out at the time of this update — sourcing requests go through Quick Order.
- Want to open a large number of packs from the same wave of product — the UPC’s 30 packs is far more than the 11-pack Pokémon Center ETB, but it is scheduled for November and you choose Day or Night as separate purchases.
- Want Japanese M6a packs specifically — that means the M6a 30th CELEBRATION Booster Box (a 20-pack box is ¥7,200 at the ¥360 pack MSRP), No Shrink option currently listed at ¥25,117 (~$163); the Sealed option is sold out at the time of this update — sourcing requests go through Quick Order.
- Want anniversary sealed product — the 25th Anniversary Golden Box is currently listed at ¥247,459 (~$1,607); the S8A 25th Anniversary Collection Booster Box is sold out at the time of this update.
The JP FUTURISTIC BOX is a Japanese product that is sold out at the time of this update; the EN UPC is not something we stock. This comparison is written to help you decide which one matches what you are actually trying to pull — not as a live stock listing for either.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between the JP FUTURISTIC BOX and the EN Ultra Premium Collection?
The FUTURISTIC BOX has zero booster packs and two guaranteed Pikachu ex FUR promos for ¥27,500. The UPC has 29 booster packs plus one Classic Collection pack and two foil promos per box (Pikachu ex plus Espeon ex or Umbreon ex), sold as separate Day and Night SKUs, at a retailer-listed $179.99 each.
Does Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX include any booster packs?
No. It contains 2 Pikachu ex FUR promos plus accessories — coins, dice, sleeves, a deck case, a display frame and a playmat — and no random packs at all.
When does the English UPC Day & Night release compared to Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX?
The FUTURISTIC BOX was released 2026-09-16 in Japan. The English UPC is a Wave 4 product scheduled for 2026-11-06, after the English set’s own first wave on 2026-09-16.
Are the FUR Pikachu ex promos in the FUTURISTIC BOX the same as the FUR Mewtwo ex and Mew ex in the base set?
No. Mewtwo ex 134/103 and Mew ex 135/103 are the base M6a set’s FUR pulls from ordinary packs. The FUTURISTIC BOX’s Pikachu ex FUR promos (131/M-P and 132/M-P per compiled checklists) are a separate guaranteed pair specific to that box.
Does Samurai Sword Tokyo sell the FUTURISTIC BOX or the English UPC?
We list the Japanese M6a 30th CELEBRATION Booster Box (No Shrink option currently ¥25,117; Sealed sold out). The Japanese FUTURISTIC BOX is sold out at the time of this update. We do not carry the English UPC or any English 30th Celebration product.
