SV6a Night Wanderer and Its MC Promo Twin
The Night Wanderer printing (SV6a #7, Common) shares its artwork — illustrated by REND — with a second placement in the MC promo/deck line at #97. Both correspond to the English Shrouded Fable set (SFA #7). This is the pattern that repeats through the rest of Houndour’s Japanese history: an artwork debuts in a mainline set and is reused for an MC-line promo or deck release rather than getting a wholly new illustration.

Team Rocket’s Houndour: A Separate Card
Illustrated by Krgc, Team Rocket’s Houndour is a card in its own right, printed under the ロケット団のデルビル name rather than as another rarity of the standard Houndour. It appears twice — as a promo/deck card at MC #99, and as a Common at SV10 #16 — and both correspond to the English Destined Rivals set (DRI #37).
Because the Team Rocket line runs separately from plain Houndour throughout its Japanese release history, it’s worth checking the printed name on the card before assuming two Houndour prints from different sets are variants of the same card. MC #449 and SVM #76 share a second Mékayu illustration and both correspond to the English Prismatic Evolutions set (PRE #62) — the same reuse pattern seen with the Night Wanderer and Team Rocket’s Houndour pairs above, this time spanning the MC and SVM placements.
