Armored Mewtwo is a single-print Japanese promo, and everything about it — the artwork, the distribution method, the redemption window — ties back to one 2019 movie release. There is no set to browse and no reprint to compare it against.
The card is Armored Mewtwo, numbered SM-P 365 in Japan’s Sun & Moon-era promo numbering. It shows the armour-clad, restraint-geared version of Mewtwo built for Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, and it looks nothing like the standard Mewtwo, Mewtwo GX, Mewtwo EX or Mega Mewtwo cards the wider market is used to. We currently list a PSA 10 of this exact print, graded and shipped from Tokyo. This guide covers what the card actually says, how Japan distributed it, how it lines up against its English-numbered counterpart, and where it sits next to the other Detective Pikachu-era promos we list.
Armored Mewtwo SM-P 365 is a PSA 10, currently listed at ¥150,568 (~$947). It was distributed in Japan via a serial code bundled with Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Let’s Go, Eevee! purchases, redeemable 12 April–11 July 2019 and valid through 30 September 2019, to tie in with the Detective Pikachu film. No second Japanese print of this card has turned up in our research. If you want a related piece from the same promotional wave, our PSA 10 Detective Pikachu P SM-P 339 jumbo card comes from the same movie tie-in.

The Card: Armored Mewtwo SM-P 365
Armored Mewtwo carries 120 HP and is Psychic type. Its single attack, Psycho Raid, costs three Psychic energy and deals 130 damage — but the card cannot attack on the following turn, a drawback printed directly on the text box. It has a Psychic weakness (×2) and a retreat cost of three Colorless energy. The illustration is credited to 2019 Pikachu Project on the card itself, rather than to an individual artist, which is standard for movie-tie-in Pokemon promos of this era.

Visually, the card breaks from every other Mewtwo printing the store carries. It depicts the “Ryme City” incarnation of Mewtwo from Pokemon: Detective Pikachu — wrapped in armour-like Psychic-type restraint gear built specifically for the film. That design choice is unique to this promo; it is not a repainted version of the standard Mewtwo, Mewtwo GX, Mewtwo EX or Mega Mewtwo lines, and none of those cards should be treated as an equivalent or a reprint of this one.

Our own graded copy of this print is currently listed at ¥150,568 (~$947), PSA 10.
Print History: One Verified Japanese Release
Every source we checked points to a single Japanese printing of Armored Mewtwo. It was issued once, under one number, through one distribution channel — there is no earlier or later Japanese release on record.
| Set / series | Number | Rarity | Distribution window |
|---|---|---|---|
| SM-P Promotional Cards (JP) | SM-P 365 | Promo | 12 Apr – 11 Jul 2019 (valid through 30 Sep 2019) |
A tie-in product does exist beyond the card itself — Armored Mewtwo Premium Matte Sleeves, released 5 July 2019 — but that is a sleeve product, not a second card printing, and it should not be counted alongside SM-P 365 as another release. Based on the records available to us, SM-P 365 remains the sole confirmed Japanese print of this character in this armoured design.
Distribution: The Detective Pikachu Movie Tie-In
Armored Mewtwo was built to promote Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, described on reference sources as the twenty-second Pokemon movie. Rather than releasing inside a booster set, Japan distributed it through a redemption code: buyers of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! received a serial code as a preorder/purchase bonus tied to the film’s release window. The code was redeemable from 12 April to 11 July 2019, with redeemed codes valid through 30 September 2019.
That distribution method is exactly why this card sits under the SM-P promo numbering rather than inside a numbered expansion — SM-P is Japan’s general promo channel for the Sun & Moon era, covering everything from movie tie-ins to tournament awards to jumbo card packs. For a broader look at cards carrying that same SM-P prefix, see our SM-P promo cards guide, which rounds up the wider promo series rather than a single card.
Where This Promo Sits Among Japanese Rarity Tiers
Promo cards like SM-P 365 sit outside the usual pack-pulled rarity ladder entirely. There is no Common, Rare, SR or SAR slot to assign it to, because it was never printed as part of a booster product — it came from a redemption code, which places it in the same broad “Promo” category as tournament prizes, jumbo cards, and other movie tie-ins from the same SM-P run.
A handful of other Detective Pikachu-era and SM-P-numbered promos sit in that same category, and PSA 10 graded examples of several of them are also in our catalogue:
Those three are separate cards from separate promo slots — the jumbo Detective Pikachu and Pikachu cards came from a special jumbo pack, and the Mewtwo GX RR carries its own SMP2 movie-special-pack number. None of them are printings of Armored Mewtwo; they are simply other pieces of the same 2019 promotional wave. A step further up the SM-P numbering range, we also list a graded PSA 10 Mewtwo GX SR, SM-P 363 currently listed at ¥691,716 (~$4,350) — a reminder that “SM-P” spans a very wide price range depending on which specific card and rarity treatment carries that number.
For how this fits against the mainline Mewtwo cards the store carries — GX, EX, and the separate Mega Mewtwo mechanic — our Mewtwo ranking guide and Mega Mewtwo cards guide cover those separately; Armored Mewtwo is not a Mega Evolution card and should not be read as one.

Is there more than one Japanese print of Armored Mewtwo?
Not based on the records we checked. SM-P 365 appears to be the sole verified Japanese printing. A matching sleeve product was released alongside it in July 2019, but that is a sleeve, not a second card.
What is the English equivalent of this card?
SM Black Star Promos #SM228. It is catalogued under a different number from the Japanese SM-P 365, which is normal for how English and Japanese promo series number the same character separately.
How was Armored Mewtwo distributed in Japan?

Is Armored Mewtwo related to Mega Mewtwo or Mewtwo GX?
No. It is a standalone movie-promo design depicting Mewtwo in armour-like restraint gear specific to Detective Pikachu. It is not a Mega Evolution card and is not part of the Mewtwo GX or Mewtwo EX print lines the store also carries.
Where can I buy a PSA 10 Armored Mewtwo from Tokyo?
