Team Rocket’s Mimikyu is not one card — it is a name that has appeared on two very different Japanese prints, eight years apart. The first is a GX from a themed half deck that never saw a booster pack. The second is a modern Art Rare from a 2025 high-class pack, sitting several rarity tiers below the set’s headline chase cards.
Both belong to the same “Team Rocket’s [Pokemon]” naming family that runs through several Japanese Pokemon eras — cards printed under a Team Rocket-branded sub-line rather than a generic character card. We already rank Mimikyu’s full character-wide print lineup, Team Rocket versions included, in our Mimikyu cards guide. This guide does something narrower: it looks specifically at what the “Team Rocket’s Mimikyu” name covers, print by print, and where each one sits inside its own set.
Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX, SMD 010/026, is currently listed at ¥174,829 (~$1,100), PSA 10. It comes from the 2017 “Ash VS Team Rocket” half deck, a deck-exclusive product never sold in boosters or outside Japan. A separate, unrelated print — Team Rocket’s Mimikyu AR, M2a 205/193, from the November 2025 high-class pack “MEGA Dream ex” — is currently listed at ¥6,438 (~$40), PSA 10.

The Cards: Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX and AR
Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX (Japanese: ロケット団のミミッキュGX) is card 010/026 from the Japanese “Ash VS Team Rocket” half deck. It carries 170 HP and is a Psychic-type GX. Per its card database listing, the print is not legal in Standard format in either Japan or English — it is playable only in Expanded (JP).

Our own graded copy of this print is currently listed at ¥174,829 (~$1,100), PSA 10.

Team Rocket’s Mimikyu (Art Rare), Japanese: ロケット団のミミッキュ, is a completely separate card: 205/193 from the high-class pack “MEGA Dream ex” (set code M2a). It carries 60 HP, is also Psychic-type, and is rated at the Art Rare (AR) tier. It has zero retreat cost, is weak to Darkness, and resists Fighting. Its single attack, ほうせきごっこ (Gem Imitation), duplicates one attack from an opponent’s Terastallized Pokemon. The illustrator is GOSSAN.

Our own graded copy of this print is currently listed at ¥6,438 (~$40), PSA 10.

Print History and the Related Cards
Neither of the two Team Rocket’s Mimikyu prints above is a reprint of the other — they come from unrelated products released eight years apart. But each one has a close relative worth knowing about, so you don’t mix them up when shopping.
| Card | Set | Number | Rarity | JP Release |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX | Ash VS Team Rocket (SMD) | 010/026 | GX (deck-exclusive) | 21 Apr 2017 |
| Ash’s Pikachu GX | Ash VS Team Rocket (SMD) | 005/026 | GX (deck-exclusive) | 21 Apr 2017 |
| Team Rocket’s Mimikyu | MEGA Dream ex (M2a) | 205/193 | AR | 28 Nov 2025 |
The GX shares its half deck with Ash’s Pikachu GX (SMD 005/026), which we cover in a separate Ash’s Pikachu GX promo card guide. Both cards were exclusive to the same “Ash VS Team Rocket” half deck and never appeared in a booster pack. Our own graded copy of the Pikachu GX is currently listed at ¥313,125 (~$1,969), PSA 10.

Do not confuse “Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX” (the solo card above) with “Gengar & Mimikyu GX” — a completely different, two-Pokemon Tag Team GX card from the “Tag Bolt” (SM9) set, released 7 December 2018. The Tag Team card exists in four separate Japanese prints (038/095 RR, 102/095 SR Full Art, 103/095 SR Special Art, and 113/095 HR). It pairs Gengar with Mimikyu as one combo card and has no direct relationship to either Team Rocket’s Mimikyu print covered here. We cover it in full in our Gengar & Mimikyu GX Tag Team card guide, and a wider set of similar combo cards in our Tag Team GX cards guide.

The Sets: Ash VS Team Rocket and MEGA Dream ex
The two Team Rocket’s Mimikyu prints come from products with almost nothing in common besides the Team Rocket branding.
Ash VS Team Rocket (Japanese: サトシ VS ロケット団, “Satoshi VS Team Rocket”) is a 30-card half deck released 21 April 2017. It was never sold as booster packs and was not released outside Japan. Our own Team Rocket Japanese Pokemon cards hub covers this same half deck and the broader Team Rocket card family it belongs to.
MEGA Dream ex (Japanese: ハイクラスパック「MEGAドリームex」) is a High Class Pack, set code M2a, released 28 November 2025. It is the same set that carries the Mega Scrafty ex and Mega Eelektross ex Special Art Rare cards, which we cover in their own guides — Team Rocket’s Mimikyu AR sits in this set at a lower rarity tier than those two SARs.
For the full picture of how “Team Rocket’s [Pokemon]” cards fit across Japanese Pokemon history, see our Team Rocket’s Pokemon card family guide, which rounds up every character named after the villain team.
Where These Prints Sit Among Japanese Rarity Tiers
The GX and the AR sit in very different places within their own products, and neither should be read against general market rankings — for that, see the dedicated ranked comparison in our Mimikyu cards guide, which weighs this GX and this AR against the rest of the Mimikyu print lineup, including the Acerola CHR/CSR prints and the plain AR.
Within its half deck, the GX occupies the headline slot in the deck’s 26-card main numbering (010/026), the standard treatment for a headline GX in a themed deck product rather than a booster set. Within MEGA Dream ex, the AR sits at the Art Rare tier — a full alternate-art treatment, but a different, lower rarity tier than the Special Art Rare (SAR) cards the same set produced for Mega Scrafty ex and Mega Eelektross ex.
Because the GX comes from a stand-alone deck product and the AR comes from a mainline high-class pack, there is no shared rarity ladder that puts both cards on one scale — each is best read against the other cards in its own product.
