What Is the 30 Pikachu Subset?
Inside 30th CELEBRATION’s main-set numbering, cards 017 through 046 are all Pikachu — 30 in a row, each credited to a different illustrator in the official card database, and each sub-numbered 01/30 through 30/30 to mark its place in the run. PokeBeach describes the shared finish across the subset as “a fireworks holofoil layer over the full card,” a term PokeBeach uses in its own reporting rather than wording the official Japanese product page itself uses.
017/103 opens the run with art by Ken Sugimori; PokeBeach notes the card recreates his Pikachu artwork from Jungle. The official 30th CELEBRATION product page confirms the subset concept directly: “To mark the 30th anniversary, 30 uniquely illustrated Pikachu holo cards, drawn by 30 illustrators, make their appearance.” The same page states that one Basic Energy card is guaranteed in every pack, but does not state that a Pikachu from this subset is guaranteed in every pack — that guarantee is stated officially only for the English product.

Why the 30 Cards Are Not Identical
HP and attacks vary card by card across the 30: per the official card database and PokeBeach’s translations, 017/103 is HP70 with the coin-flip Thunder Shock; 018/103 is also HP70 but carries Volt Tackle, 80 damage with 30 recoil; 021/103 is HP80 with a healing move, Nap; 025/103 drops to HP50 with a plain 10-damage Gnaw; and 034/103, illustrated by Shinji Kanda, is HP80 with Overwriting Bolt, which changes the Defending Pokémon’s Weakness to Lightning until the end of the following turn.
Weakness (Fighting ×2) and Retreat Cost both stay close across the run but are not fixed either — Retreat Cost ranges from 0 (025/103) to 3 (021/103) among the cards checked here. If you’re grading or trading a specific number from this subset, treat it as its own card rather than assuming another Pikachu in the run plays the same.
What PSA Checks When Grading These Cards
Whichever of the 30 you’re holding, PSA applies the same published Gem Mint 10 standard:
“A PSA Gem Mint 10 card is a virtually perfect card. Attributes include four perfectly sharp corners, sharp focus and full original gloss. A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn’t impair the overall appeal of the card. The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.”
PSA also flags a subjective element at the margins: “the graders reserve the right, based on the strength or weakness of the eye appeal, to make a judgment call on the grade of a particular card.” Our own condition guide breaks the standard into four checks: centering (“how evenly the printed image sits within the card’s border, front and back”), corners (“sharpness of all four corners — a Gem Mint 10 requires all four to be perfectly sharp”), edges (“condition of the card’s cut edges, checked for whitening, chipping, or roughness”) and surface (“gloss, print quality, and freedom from staining, scratches, or print defects”). A holofoil layer across the whole card, as this subset has, is judged against the same published Gem Mint 10 standard as a partial-foil card.
The One Dated Figure in This Subset
Of the 30 Pikachu, only 017/103 — the Ken Sugimori card that opens the run — has a dated SNKRDUNK asking price recorded in this update. It was ¥1,000 on release day, September 16, 2026, and remained ¥1,000 (~$6) on September 18, 2026. No figure is available for 018/103 through 046/103 in this update; this guide does not estimate one.
For context, the sealed M6a box’s lowest SNKRDUNK ask moved from ¥47,200 on September 1 to ¥28,200 on September 10, ¥17,500 on release day and ¥20,994 on September 18, 2026 — still roughly three times the ¥7,200 MSRP.
