Raikou Pokémon Art Prints Compared: V 218/172, ex 108/076, ex 092/076 and Amazing Rare 015/076

Raikou Pokémon Art Prints Compared: V 218/172, ex 108/076, ex 092/076 and Amazing Rare 015/076

This guide compares four Raikou art prints; the official Japanese card database does not label art styles, so it compares the prints by what the database does print: number, illustrator, HP and card text. The four are ライコウV S12a 218/172 (nagimiso), ライコウex M6 108/076 (Oku), ライコウex M6 092/076 (aky CG Works) and ライコウ S3a 015/076 (Hideki Ishikawa). They come from three different sets and three card types, and they are easy to confuse because all four feature the same Pokémon and the numbering of three of them sits beyond the end of their set.

Key Takeaways
  • Four illustrators, four prints: nagimiso (V 218/172, HP 200), Oku (ex 108/076, HP 200), aky CG Works (ex 092/076, HP 200) and Hideki Ishikawa (015/076, HP 110).
  • The V and the two ex prints carry a two-Prize rule; the 015/076 print shows no rule-box line in the database text.
  • The 218/172 print is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥18,574 (~$121); the two ex prints come from the M6 Storm Emeralda Booster Box.

The Four Prints Side by Side

The table below sets the four prints against the same fields. Rarity letters are not part of the official database, so the last column shows only what our own listings or guides call each card.

Print Set Number Illustrator HP Name in our listings or guides
ライコウV S12a (VSTAR Universe) 218/172 nagimiso 200 “Raikou V SAR” in our listing name
ライコウex M6 (Storm Emeralda) 108/076 Oku 200 No rarity in the official database; Bulbapedia is reported to list SAR
ライコウex M6 (Storm Emeralda) 092/076 aky CG Works 200 No rarity in the official database; Bulbapedia is reported to list SR
ライコウ S3a (伝説の鼓動) 015/076 Hideki Ishikawa 110 Amazing Rare (rarity code A) in our guide

Two things stand out before any detail. First, the numbering position: 218/172 sits 46 numbers above the S12a printed count of 172, 108/076 sits 32 above M6’s 076, and 092/076 sits 16 above. The 015/076 print is the odd one out, because 15 is inside its set’s printed count of 76. It is a regular-numbered card that happens to carry a special rarity. Second, the HP: the V and both ex prints are all HP 200, while the 015/076 card is HP 110.

If you hold one of these cards and want to identify it, work in this order. Read the card name line: ライコウV means the S12a card, ライコウex means one of the two M6 prints, and plain ライコウ with a lower HP points to the S3a card. Then read the number in the corner: 218 over 172 can only be the S12a print, 108 or 092 over 076 is the M6 pair, and 015/076 is the S3a card. Finally, check the illustrator credit printed on the card against the table, which separates the two M6 prints from each other. Name plus number is enough to separate all four.

For the broader picture of every Raikou print in the database, our legendary beasts guide is the starting point.

Raikou V 218/172 (S12a) by nagimiso

Raikou V S12a 218/172 VSTAR Universe, illustrated by nagimiso
ライコウV S12a 218/172 (VSTAR Universe), illustrator nagimiso — official card database image

This is the oldest of the secret-numbered prints in the comparison and the only one on a V card. The S12a set was released on Friday, December 2, 2022 (per our legendary beasts guide), and the database lists two Raikou V entries in it: the regular 038/172 by PLANETA Mochizuki and this 218/172 by nagimiso. Both carry the same game text, so the difference between them is artwork and number.

The card text (rendering): Basic, HP 200. The ability しゅんそく (“Swift Step”) can be used once during your turn while this Pokémon is in the Active spot, and you draw 1 card. The attack ライトニングロンド (“Lightning Rondo”) does 20 damage, plus 20 more for each Benched Pokémon on both sides. The special rule says that when a Pokémon V is Knocked Out, the opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Our listing carries the card as “PSA10 Raikou V SAR [s12a 218/172]” (as our listing names it). It is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥18,574 (~$121) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.

If you want the Japanese-versus-English side of this card, the Raikou V GG41 versus 218/172 guide and the VSTAR Universe all-versions guide go further, and our Raikou V PSA 10 guide covers the graded side. The set’s listing page is the S12a card list.

Raikou ex 108/076 (M6) by Oku

Raikou ex M6 108/076 Storm Emeralda, illustrated by Oku
ライコウex M6 108/076 (Storm Emeralda), illustrator Oku — official card database image

The M6 set (Storm Emeralda) was released on Friday, July 31, 2026 (per our legendary beasts guide), and it contains three ライコウex entries in the official database: 024/076 and 092/076, both by aky CG Works, and 108/076 by Oku. The 108/076 number is the highest of the three, 32 above the printed count.

The credit on 108/076 is Oku, the only illustrator on the M6 trio other than aky CG Works. Beyond the credit, the database gives us the same game text as the other two M6 prints (rendering): Basic, HP 200; the attack いかずちをまとう (“Wrapped in Thunder”), which can be used even on the first player’s first turn, attaches an Energy card chosen from your deck to the Pokémon, then shuffles; the attack パワーラッシュ (“Power Rush”) does 200, and on a tails coin flip the Pokémon cannot use attacks during your next turn; and a Pokémon ex Knocked Out gives the opponent 2 Prize cards.

The official database prints no rarity letter for 108/076 (Bulbapedia is reported to list it as SAR), so we describe it as the secret-numbered print with the Oku credit. For a line-by-line explanation of what that card text does, see our Raikou ex rules explainer.

Raikou ex 092/076 (M6) by aky CG Works

Raikou ex M6 092/076 Storm Emeralda, illustrated by aky CG Works
ライコウex M6 092/076 (Storm Emeralda), illustrator aky CG Works — official card database image

The 092/076 print shares its illustrator with the set’s regular 024/076 card (our legendary beasts guide lists that regular print as RR). So the first thing the database tells you is that 024/076 and 092/076 are the same illustrator’s two prints of the same card, one numbered inside the set count and one 16 numbers above it, while 108/076 is the print with a different credit.

The text is the same as above (rendering): HP 200, the Energy-fetching attack, the 200-damage coin-flip attack and the two-Prize rule. Every one of those lines is identical between 024/076, 092/076 and 108/076 in the official Japanese text, so the choice among the three M6 prints is artwork and number, not rules.

For the collector-side detail on this pair, our 108/076 and 092/076 guide covers both secret-numbered prints, and the 024/076 card guide covers the regular one.

Both ex prints come out of the same sealed product. The M6 box does not let you choose which card you open, and this guide gives no pull-rate figure.

Raikou 015/076 (S3a) by Hideki Ishikawa

Raikou S3a 015/076 Legendary Heartbeat, illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa
ライコウ S3a 015/076 (伝説の鼓動), illustrator Hideki Ishikawa — official card database image

The S3a card is a different kind of print from the other three. It comes from 伝説の鼓動 (S3a), released on Friday, July 10, 2020, and our Amazing Rare guide lists it with rarity code A. That guide names Raikou as the only legendary beast among its nine Amazing Rare cards. The set count is 76, so 015 sits inside the main numbering.

The database gives it as a Basic with HP 110 and the Pokédex line No.243 いかずちポケモン, and a single attack, アメイジングシュート120 (our Amazing Rare guide names it “Amazing Shot”). Rendered (rendering): the attack also does 120 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon, and Weakness and Resistance are not applied to Benched Pokémon. The same guide gives the attack cost as Grass, Lightning and Metal Energy. There is no ability and no special rule line, which fits the guide’s description of Amazing Rare cards as Basic Pokémon without a rule box, worth one Prize when Knocked Out.

The English original is Vivid Voltage #050/185, released Friday, November 13, 2020 (per our reprint guide). Hideki Ishikawa is also the credited illustrator of the 162/103 reprint in the M6a 30th CELEBRATION set, and the database text for 162/103 matches this card’s text, as our Raikou 162/103 guide explains. A further guide on this print alone is the Raikou 015/076 Amazing Rare guide.

Card Text Compared

Laid out by game text, the four prints fall into three groups: the V, the two-print ex group, and the single-attack Basic.

Feature Raikou V 218/172 Raikou ex 108/076 and 092/076 Raikou 015/076
HP 200 200 110
Ability しゅんそく: draw 1 card once per turn while in the Active spot None in the database text None in the database text
Attacks ライトニングロンド, 20+ (20 more per Benched Pokémon on both sides) いかずちをまとう (attach 1 Energy from deck, shuffle; usable on the first player’s first turn) and パワーラッシュ 200 (tails: no attacks next turn) アメイジングシュート 120 (also 120 to 1 Benched Pokémon)
Prize cards when Knocked Out 2 (Pokémon V rule) 2 (Pokémon ex rule) No rule-box line printed
Illustrator nagimiso Oku (108/076); aky CG Works (092/076) Hideki Ishikawa

One consequence follows directly from the table. Because 108/076 and 092/076 print identical rules, the pair is a pure artwork choice. The other two prints differ in rules as well as artwork, so they cannot be treated as alternatives to each other in the way the two ex prints can. This guide does not rank them for play; for a rules-level reading of the ex text, see the explainer linked above.

A note on the two Prize wordings. The V print and the ex prints each name their own card type in the rule line: ポケモンVがきぜつしたとき on the V, ポケモンexがきぜつしたとき on the ex. Both end with the same consequence, that the opponent takes 2 Prize cards (相手はサイドを2枚とる). A V card and an ex card are different card types with their own rule lines, even though the Prize consequence reads the same.

The wider print history of the Pokémon is in our legendary beasts guide, which also covers the older Raikou cards that are not in this comparison.

On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「イナズマの衝撃」 (working English translation “Lightning Impact”; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible Raikou set; nothing is announced. Our Lightning Impact trademark guide explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the ex★ and 2027 trademarks round-up compares all four reported names.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who illustrated each of the four Raikou art prints?

nagimiso illustrated the Raikou V 218/172 (S12a), Oku illustrated the Raikou ex 108/076 (M6), aky CG Works illustrated the Raikou ex 092/076 (M6), and Hideki Ishikawa illustrated the Raikou 015/076 (S3a), according to the official Japanese card database.

Do Raikou ex 108/076 and 092/076 have different card text?

No. The official Japanese text is identical on both: HP 200, an attack that attaches 1 Energy card from your deck, a 200-damage attack with a coin-flip drawback, and the rule that the opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Only the artwork and number differ.

What is the HP of each Raikou art print?

The V 218/172 and both M6 ex prints (108/076 and 092/076) are HP 200. The S3a 015/076 Raikou is HP 110.

Is Raikou 015/076 a secret-numbered card?

No. Its number 015 is inside the set’s printed count of 76. Our Amazing Rare guide lists it with rarity code A, so it is a regular-numbered card carrying a special rarity, unlike the 218/172, 108/076 and 092/076 prints, which sit above their set counts.

Does the official database say which Raikou prints are SAR or SR?

No. The official Japanese database does not print rarity letters. We use SAR only where our own listing names it, as in our PSA 10 listing for the Raikou V 218/172, and we describe the other prints by number.

Which Raikou art print can I buy as a PSA 10?

Of the four, the Raikou V 218/172 is the one we offer as a PSA 10 back order, sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. For a specific other single, sourcing requests go through Quick Order.
