Raikou V in Pokemon Start Deck 100 (SI 137/414): Card and Deck Guide

Raikou V in Pokemon Start Deck 100 (SI 137/414): Card and Deck Guide

Pokemon Start Deck 100 (スタートデッキ100, set code SI) includes ライコウV (Raikou V), numbered 137/414, a Basic Pokémon with 200 HP credited to PLANETA Mochizuki in the official Pokémon Card Game database on pokemon-card.com. The database holds two separate entries for that one printed number, with ids 40379 and 40620, and both carry the same text.

This guide explains what the card does, how it relates to the Raikou V in VSTAR Universe (S12a 038/172), and how the 2021 Start Deck 100 differs from the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection we currently list. We sell Japanese sealed product and graded singles from Tokyo. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate; official manufacturer prices are labelled as such and are not our prices.

Key Takeaways
  • Raikou V SI 137/414 is a 200 HP Basic Pokémon V with the ability しゅんそく and the attack ライトニングロンド, credited to PLANETA Mochizuki. The database lists it twice (ids 40379 and 40620).
  • Its card text matches Raikou V S12a 038/172 in the database. The secret-numbered S12a 218/172 credits nagimiso instead.
  • The 2021 Start Deck 100 (official price ¥790) is a different product from the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, currently listed at ¥1,097 (~$7). No Raikou entry in the database carries an MC number.

What Raikou V SI 137/414 Is

The database page for ライコウV prints the following values for the SI entries.

Field Official database value
Number and set code 137/414, SI (Start Deck 100)
Illustrator PLANETA Mochizuki
Stage Basic (たね)
HP 200
Database ids 40379 and 40620 (two entries, same number and text)
Rarity Not printed by the database
Raikou V 137/414 SI, illustrated by PLANETA Mochizuki, database id 40379
Raikou V — 137/414 — SI, database id 40379 (PLANETA Mochizuki)
Raikou V 137/414 SI, illustrated by PLANETA Mochizuki, database id 40620
Raikou V — 137/414 — SI, database id 40620 (PLANETA Mochizuki)

Why the database holds two entries for the same printed number is not stated in our sources, so we do not guess. The same duplication appears for Entei V SI 056/414, which has ids 40350 and 40546. If you are searching the database for a copy, look for both ids.

The card text, rendered from the printed Japanese

Name (as printed) Type Effect, rendered
しゅんそく Ability Once during your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, draw 1 card from your deck (rendering).
ライトニングロンド20+ Attack 20 damage, plus 20 more for each Benched Pokémon on both sides.
Special rule Pokémon V When this Pokémon is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

That rule line is the printed Pokémon V rule on this card. It is not a statement about other cards, and this guide makes no play-strength claim.

Start Deck 100 (SI) in Brief

The facts below come from the official product page for ポケモンカードゲーム ソード&シールド スタートデッキ100 and the official card database.

Detail Start Deck 100 (SI)
Release Friday, December 17, 2021 (official product page)
Official price ¥790
Contents 1 deck of 60 cards, plus a damage counter and marker sheet
Kinds 100 decks, numbered No.001 to No.100
Random or fixed Random: you do not choose the deck number
Card numbering Base cards 001–414; the database confirms secret numbers 415/414 (Pikachu V) and 417/414 (Zamazenta V)
In every deck ハイパーボール

The official page gives example decks: No.001 is a Rayquaza VMAX deck, and No.100 is the deck featuring エンテイV, スイクンV and ライコウV together. Our sources do not say which deck numbers hold the Raikou V printed 137/414 beyond that, so this guide does not claim that No.100 is the only one. The 137/414 number is a base number, not one of the secret numbers above 414.

Our Start Deck 100 Battle Collection guide covers the 2025 product described below, which shares the Start Deck 100 name and the random 100-kinds format but not the cards.

The official beginner page draws the line between pack products and deck products in plain terms: an expansion pack holds a few random cards each, while a pre-built deck holds 60 cards made to be played straight away. Start Deck 100 is the second kind. That is why a single Raikou V from it arrives inside a complete 60-card deck of the official design. The SI numbering runs to 414.

The Three Beast V Cards in SI and S12a

The legendary beast trio appears twice as V cards: once in SI and once in VSTAR Universe (S12a). The two sets carry the same three card texts and the same three illustrator credits; only the secret-numbered S12a prints change illustrator.

Card SI number (ids) S12a number (id) Illustrator in SI Illustrator in S12a HP
エンテイV 056/414 (40350, 40546) 019/172 (42280) PLANETA Mochizuki PLANETA Mochizuki 230
スイクンV 092/414 (40362) 024/172 (42285) Ayaka Yoshida Ayaka Yoshida 210
ライコウV 137/414 (40379, 40620) 038/172 (42299) PLANETA Mochizuki PLANETA Mochizuki 200

In this table the credits match between the two sets for each beast, and Ayaka Yoshida is the credit on both Suicune V cards. For the Entei side of the trio, see our Entei V PSA 10 guide. The Suicune V prints, including the S12a and SI ones above, are covered in our Suicune Japanese cards guide.

SI 137/414 Next to S12a 038/172 and 218/172

Raikou V appears in three numbered prints that the database lists: SI 137/414 (two entries), S12a 038/172 and S12a 218/172. The first two print the same text and the same credit, and the third is the secret-numbered print.

S12a 038/172 PLANETA Mochizuki 200 No Same as SI 137/414
S12a 218/172 nagimiso 200 Yes (218 of 172) Same as SI 137/414

Raikou V — 038/172 — S12a (PLANETA Mochizuki), shown for comparison

Put this image beside the two SI images above. A shared credit does not by itself prove the artwork is the same, so the side-by-side look is the check. What differs for certain is the number, the set count (414 against 172) and the set code on the card.

The secret-numbered 218/172 is the print our PSA 10 guide covers. The Raikou V SAR listing, named by us as “PSA10 Raikou V SAR[s12a 218/172]”, is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥18,574 (~$121) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. The full comparison of the S12a prints is in the sibling guide Raikou V 038/172 vs 218/172, and the Raikou V PSA 10 guide covers the graded side. The S12a set has its own VSTAR Universe listing page.

MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection

The product we list under the Start Deck 100 name is the 2025 successor, not the 2021 deck. The official page for ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA スタートデッキ100 バトルコレクション gives the details in the table.

The MC page also notes that a match needs two or more decks (「対戦には2つ以上のデッキが必要です。」). The official regulation page says the Standard format is H, I and J marks from Friday, January 23, 2026, and that the J mark debuted in this MC product. That is a fact about MC, not a statement about Raikou V.

So a buyer who wants the Raikou V printed 137/414 cannot get it from the MEGA product, which is a different set of cards. It is a starter deck, though, and it is a current way into the Start Deck 100 line. The guide for the 2025 product is Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, and the version question is in MEGA Start Deck 100 regular vs White Box.

Using Raikou V in a 60-Card Deck

The official how-to-play page sets out the deck rules that apply to any Raikou V, whether it came from SI or S12a. It says each player uses one deck of 60 cards, and that cards with the same name are limited to four. Its own example is that Pikachu and Pikachu ex count as different names, which is the same distinction as Raikou against Raikou V. The same page says a deck must hold at least one Basic Pokémon, and that the first player to take six Prize cards wins.

The V rule matters for that last point: because the printed rule on Raikou V gives your opponent two Prize cards when it is Knocked Out, a Raikou V is a larger share of the six than a regular Pokémon. That is an arithmetic reading of the printed rule, not advice on whether to play it. For a plain-language introduction to the game, see our beginner guide to playing Pokémon cards.

How to Tell Which Raikou V You Hold

A Raikou V is placed by its number over the set count and by its set code.

What the card shows Print it points to
137/414 with the SI set code Start Deck 100, credited to PLANETA Mochizuki
038/172 with the S12a set code VSTAR Universe, credited to PLANETA Mochizuki
218/172 with the S12a set code VSTAR Universe secret-numbered print, credited to nagimiso
A card named ライコウ without the V A different card, such as the Sun & Moon-era prints in our Raikou in the Sun & Moon era guide

Because the SI and S12a 038/172 prints share a text and a credit, the printed number and the set code together are what separate them. For the wider print history, the legendary beasts card guide covers all three Pokémon, and the card list hub links the set pages we maintain.

Raikou and the October 29, 2026 Trademark Reports

On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「イナズマの衝撃」 (working English translation "Lightning Impact"; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible Raikou set; nothing is announced. Our Lightning Impact trademark article explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the wider picture is in our ex★ sets and trademarks round-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Raikou V SI 137/414?

It is a Basic Pokémon V with 200 HP from Start Deck 100 (set code SI), credited to PLANETA Mochizuki in the official database. The database lists two entries for the number, with ids 40379 and 40620, and both print the same text.

What does the Raikou V ability and attack do?

The ability しゅんそく can be used once during your turn if the Pokémon is in the Active Spot: you draw 1 card from your deck. The attack ライトニングロンド does 20 damage plus 20 more for each Benched Pokémon on both sides. When the V is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Is the SI Raikou V the same as the VSTAR Universe Raikou V?

The database prints the same text and the same illustrator credit (PLANETA Mochizuki) for SI 137/414 and S12a 038/172. They differ in number, set count and set code. The secret-numbered S12a 218/172 credits nagimiso.

How much is the 2021 Start Deck 100?

The official price at release on Friday, December 17, 2021 was ¥790. That is the manufacturer price, not our listing. The product we currently list is the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection at ¥1,097 (~$7), whose official price is ¥891.

Does the MEGA Start Deck 100 contain Raikou V?

No Raikou entry among the 24 in the official database carries an MC number, so the MEGA Start Deck 100 Battle Collection is not where Raikou V SI 137/414 comes from. The MEGA deck always contains two or more Pokémon ex.

How do I get a Raikou V I do not see listed?

The Raikou V SAR 218/172 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥18,574 (~$121), sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms. For SI 137/414 or another print, sourcing requests go through Quick Order at samuraiswordtokyo.com/#quick-order.
