The Four M2a Mega Dragonite ex Prints
Mega Dragonite ex was introduced in M2a, the high-class pack “MEGA Dream ex,” released in Japan on November 28, 2025. Every print of メガカイリューex in that set shares the same card text: Stage 2, HP 370, Dragon type, ability “Sky Carry” (switches the Active Pokemon with a Benched Pokemon once per turn), and the attack “Ryuno Glide” for roughly 330 damage, discarding 2 Energy. It evolves from Dragonair.
What changes across the four prints is the illustration treatment and rarity slot:

MA is a rarity that debuted with this set — the official product page describes it as strong Mega Evolution Pokemon rendered in special comic/manga-styled illustration, with the attack name shown directly on the art. Three new Mega ex Pokemon headline M2a overall: Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Lucario ex, and Mega Gardevoir ex, alongside reprinted favorites like Mega Dragonite ex. M2a’s full numbering runs to 250 cards: the main run of Normal and Rare cards fills 001–193, AR cards take 194–213, SR cards 214–222, MA cards 223–232, SAR cards 233–249, and the single MUR closes the set at 250. Mega Dragonite ex is one of only a small number of Pokemon in the set that shows up in four of those tiers — main numbering, MA, SAR, and the MUR — rather than one or two. The official set page also confirms every pack is guaranteed at least one Pokemon ex or Mega Evolution ex card, so pulling some form of ex card — Dragonite or otherwise — isn’t left entirely to chance.
Check the card number in the bottom corner first. 126/193 (RR) uses the set’s standard Double Rare frame. 232/193 (MA) has the attack name printed directly on the comic-style art. 246/193 (SAR) is a full-bleed illustration showing the whole evolution line. 250/193 (MUR) carries the gold-toned secret treatment and is the highest number in the set.
The Flagship: Mega Dragonite ex MUR (250/193)
Card #250 is the single MUR slot in the entire M2a set, and it belongs to Mega Dragonite ex. MUR is the set’s top secret-rare tier — a full-illustration treatment with a gold-toned finish, distinct from the SAR and MA cards that share the same base artwork family.
A community tier-list source (torecamap.co.jp) ranks this MUR as the third most sought-after pull in the entire M2a set, behind Mega Gengar ex SAR and Pikachu ex SAR — and specifically calls it out as the rarest of the set’s chase cards. The SAR print at 246/193 sits in the same 233–249 Special Art Rare block as several other M2a chase cards. The same torecamap.co.jp ranking places this SAR fourth in the set, noting that its artwork is distinct for showing the complete Dratini → Dragonair → Dragonite evolution line together in a single illustration — rather than isolating the Mega form alone, as the MUR and MA prints do.

MA: The Card We Have In Stock (232/193)
Card 232/193 closes out the MA block — the last of the ten Mega Attack Rare cards in M2a (223–232). MA is the newer, comic-styled rarity described above: the attack name appears directly on the illustration alongside a dynamic Mega Dragonite pose.

RR: The Base Print (126/193)
The RR (Double Rare) print at 126/193 sits in M2a’s main card numbering rather than the special-rarity block, making it the most accessible of the four Mega Dragonite ex prints. Same card text as the others — HP 370, Sky Carry, Ryuno Glide — in the set’s standard Double Rare treatment. SNKRDUNK asks for this print run around ¥1,000 (~$6), the lowest of the four.

Ascended Heroes: The English Debut
Mega Dragonite ex’s English-language localization arrives in Ascended Heroes, a Scarlet & Violet-era Pokemon TCG set released January 30, 2026 — the international counterpart to Japan’s M2a MEGA Dream ex. Ascended Heroes runs 217 cards in its main numbering, with additional secret-rare cards extending the print run further (Bulbapedia lists 295 total including secrets).
The confirmed base print is Mega Dragonite ex, #152/217, Double Rare, per the official Pokemon TCG database: HP 370, ability “Sky Transport” (functionally identical to the Japanese “Sky Carry” — switches Active with a Benched Pokemon once per turn), attack “Ryuno Glide” for 330 damage discarding 2 Energy, illustrated by aky CG Works, evolving from Dragonair. Higher-rarity secret and hyper-rare variants exist further into the set’s numbering, but published card numbers for those conflict across retailer listings, so we’re not going to guess at specifics here.

Pokemon GO: Dragonite V & VSTAR
Before the Mega era, the most recognized modern Dragonite prints came from the Pokemon GO expansion — a Sword & Shield-era crossover set released in Japan on June 17, 2022, and in English on July 1, 2022.

The alternate-art 076/078 and rainbow 081/078 prints are the two most commonly asked-about Dragonite cards outside the current Mega era — both pull the character out of the standard V/VSTAR frame into full-bleed illustration. Vintage Roots: The 1999 Fossil Dragonite
Dragonite’s first TCG appearance predates every card above by over two decades. The original Fossil expansion — the third English-language Pokemon TCG set, released October 1999 under WotC — includes Dragonite, #4/62, Rare Holo, Colorless type, Stage 2, illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. It’s the sole Dragonite print in that set.
For long-time collectors, the Fossil holo remains the reference point every later Dragonite print gets compared against — the same Stage 2 evolution line the M2a and Pokemon GO cards continue to depict a quarter-century later.
