Updated November 7, 2026
The Red Mew card is a search phrase, not a card name on any of our product pages. The Mew cards we can document are the SAR Mew ex in SV2A (SV2a) Pokemon 151 and the FUR Mew ex in the 30th Celebration expansion. This guide compares the two and shows how to identify and order them.
- SV2A Pokemon 151 (Japanese edition) lists SAR Mew ex among its chase cards; the set released in Japan on June 16, 2023.
- A FUR Mew ex exists in the 30th CELEBRATION expansion, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN.
- An SV2A booster box holds 20 packs of 7 cards (140 cards) and the set has 165 card types.
- Identify a card by set code, card number, rarity and edition, not by a nickname like “red”.
- Orders ship from Tokyo by FedEx with a tracking number; payment is in Japanese yen.
| Key fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Search phrase | Red Mew card |
| Mew card in a booster set | SAR Mew ex, SV2A (SV2a) Pokemon 151, Japanese Original Edition |
| SV2A Japanese release date | June 16, 2023 |
| SV2A box contents | 20 booster packs, 7 cards per pack, 140 cards per box, 165 card types |
| Second Mew card | FUR Mew ex in the “30th CELEBRATION” expansion (artist: YOSHIROTTEN) |

Sources for the table: our SV2A Pokemon 151 booster box page and our 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX page. For how the official Pokémon Card Game site presents a product’s name, release date and rarities, see the official High-Class Pack “MEGA Dream ex” page.
What is the Red Mew card?
No card named “Red Mew” appears on our product pages. Our listings identify a Pokémon card by set, rarity, number and finish, and those details separate one print from another. The Mew cards named in our sources are the SAR Mew ex from SV2A and the FUR Mew ex from 30th Celebration.
The official Pokémon Card Game page for the “MEGA Dream ex” high-class pack lists its own rarities and cards but does not mention Mew, so this guide stays with the Mew cards named on our own pages. If you came for a specific print, compare it with the two cards below. If it matches neither, search by the set code and the card number printed on the card itself.
Our listings are written in that form: the name, rarity, edition, number and set appear together in one line. Use those details to match a card, rather than the word “red”.
Which Mew ex cards can you document in Japanese sets?
Two Mew ex cards are documented: the SAR Mew ex in SV2A Pokemon 151 and the FUR Mew ex in the 30th Celebration expansion. They differ in set, finish and how you reach them, so treat them as separate targets.
| Card | Set | Finish | What our pages say |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mew ex | SV2A Pokemon 151 (Japanese) | SAR (Super Art Rare) | Listed under Key Cards & Chase Cards on the SV2A box page |
| Mew ex | 30th CELEBRATION expansion (Japanese) | FUR (Futuristic Rare) | Illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, the artist of the FUR Pikachu ex promos in the Futuristic Box |
Neither page gives a card number for Mew, so this article does not state one. When you shop for a single, confirm the number on the listing against your reference before you pay.
What do we know about the SAR Mew ex in SV2A Pokemon 151?
SAR Mew ex is one of five cards named as chase cards for SV2A Pokemon 151, alongside SAR Charizard ex, SAR Erika’s Invitation, AR Bulbasaur and UR Master Ball Gold. The set is a Japanese Original Edition Enhanced Expansion Pack released on June 16, 2023, and its product page describes it as featuring all 151 original Pokémon with modern ex artwork and iconic Kanto Trainers.
| SV2A detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Packs per box | 20 |
| Cards per pack | 7 |
| Cards per box | 140 |
| Card types | 165 |
| Rarities listed | C, U, R, RR, AR, SAR, UR |
| Japanese release date | June 16, 2023 |
A booster box is a randomized product. The specific cards in each box are packed at random at the factory, and individual pulls are not promised by the listing. If you want one specific Mew, a single card is the direct route; a box is for opening packs and seeing what is inside.
SV2A also has a discounted option. Our SV2A Pokemon 151 damaged box listing (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) is a sealed box with cosmetic damage to the outer box. Check the listing page for current availability; the regular box page is the standard route.
What is the FUR Mew ex in 30th Celebration?
The FUR Mew ex is a Futuristic Rare card in the “30th CELEBRATION” expansion, illustrated by the graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN. We know this from the 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX page, which says YOSHIROTTEN is the same artist behind the FUR Mew ex and Mewtwo ex in that expansion.
The Futuristic Box itself does not contain a Mew. It is a Pokemon Center Online exclusive supply set for the Pokemon Card Game MEGA, released in Japan on September 16, 2026, and it contains:
- Two different FUR Pikachu ex promo cards, one of each, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN
- 64 deck shields
- A flip deck case
- A half-size rubber playmat
- 12 metal damage dice
- Metal markers
- 2 coins
- A display frame
Our 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX page states the item ships on or after September 26, 2026, once all existing pre-orders have been shipped. The link to Mew is the shared artist: YOSHIROTTEN illustrated the FUR Pikachu ex promos in the box and, according to the same page, is also the artist behind the FUR Mew ex.

How do the SV2A SAR Mew ex and the 30th Celebration FUR Mew ex compare?
Choose the SV2A SAR Mew ex if you want the Kanto-themed Pokemon 151 set, and the 30th Celebration FUR Mew ex if you want the YOSHIROTTEN-illustrated card tied to the anniversary expansion. Both are Mew ex cards, but nothing on our pages treats them as the same print.
| Question | SV2A SAR Mew ex | 30th Celebration FUR Mew ex |
|---|---|---|
| Set theme | All 151 original Pokémon, modern ex artwork, Kanto Trainers | 30th anniversary expansion of the Pokemon Card Game |
| Finish | SAR (Super Art Rare) | FUR (Futuristic Rare) |
| Named artist on our pages | Not named | YOSHIROTTEN |
| Sealed product on our shop | SV2A booster box (20 packs, 140 cards) | Futuristic Box holds Pikachu ex promos, not Mew |
| Card number on our pages | Not given | Not given |
Because the numbers are not on our pages, the practical check is the listing itself. Match set, finish and number before you order, and do not rely on a nickname.
What do SAR, AR, UR and FUR mean on these cards?
SAR stands for Super Art Rare, AR for Art Rare, UR for Ultra Rare and FUR for Futuristic Rare; they are finish and rarity labels that appear in the card name on our listings. Our SV2A page lists the full rarity ladder for the set: Commons (C), Uncommons (U), Rares (R), Double Rares (RR), Art Rares (AR), Super Art Rares (SAR) and Ultra Rares (UR).
FUR is the newer label. The Futuristic Box page describes the Pikachu ex promos as having the new FUR (Futuristic Rare) finish. The official Pokémon Card Game page for the High-Class Pack “MEGA Dream ex” (released November 28, 2025, 550 yen per pack, 10 cards per pack) shows how the official site introduces a rarity: it lists a new MA (Mega Attack Rare) alongside AR and SAR. An official announcement dated December 5, 2025 about a surface-finishing error in that pack names MA cards such as Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex. Rarity labels change from set to set, so read the label in each listing instead of assuming it carries over.
| Label | Meaning | Where it appears in this guide |
|---|---|---|
| AR | Art Rare | AR Bulbasaur in SV2A; AR Meowth in SV10 |
| SAR | Super Art Rare | SAR Mew ex in SV2A; SAR Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex in SV10 |
| UR | Ultra Rare | UR Master Ball Gold in SV2A |
| FUR | Futuristic Rare | FUR Mew ex in 30th Celebration; FUR Pikachu ex promos in the Futuristic Box |
Is there a red-named Mewtwo card in our PSA 10 listings?
Yes, but it features Mewtwo, not Mew: the M Mewtwo EX SR from the “Red Flash” expansion pack. Two PSA 10 listings are relevant to this search, the M Mewtwo EX SR and the Armored Mewtwo promo.
| Card | Set | Number | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| M Mewtwo EX SR :1ED | Expansion Pack “Red Flash” (XY8-R) | 063/059 | PSA 10 (Gem Mint) |
| Armored Mewtwo: PROMO (Opened) | SM-P Promotional cards | 365 | PSA 10 (Gem Mint) |
The first is the one a searcher might confuse with a red Mew, because “Red Flash” is in the set name.

Both listings describe PSA 10 as Gem Mint, the highest grade PSA certifies, and note that the PSA case may have minor scratches or marks on its surface. They also say stock levels can change, so an order may take a little longer to ship. Our shipping policy adds that PSA graded cards may also be sold through other channels, so an item shown online can sell before the allocation for your order is locked. Once your payment clears, we secure the matching PSA graded card even if more sourcing is needed, and we send status updates when the schedule changes.
A second Armored Mewtwo listing for card 365 also exists at a separate page; use the linked listing above and check its page for availability.
How do you identify a Japanese Mew card before you buy?
Identify it by set code, card number, rarity and edition, and ignore nicknames. Our listings are written that way, for example “M Mewtwo EX SR :1ED No. 063/059 | Set: Expansion Pack Red Flash”. That one line gives the character, rarity, edition, number and set.
Use this checklist when you compare a Mew listing with what you want:
- Set code. SV2A for Pokemon 151, or the 30th Celebration expansion for the FUR card.
- Rarity. SAR for the Pokemon 151 Mew ex, FUR for the 30th Celebration Mew ex.
- Card number. Compare the number on the listing with the number printed on your reference card or checklist.
- Language and edition. Our products are Japanese edition cards; the box pages say Japanese Original Edition.
- Grade, if graded. A PSA 10 listing says so in the name.
- Edition mark.
For more on the naming used in card names such as Mew ex and M Mewtwo EX, read our guide What Does ex Mean on Pokémon Cards? ex, EX, ex★ and MA Explained.

Should you buy a booster box or a single for a Mew card?
Buy a single if you want one specific Mew, and buy a box if you want to open packs. A box gives no promise of any individual card, and our box pages say the same about pulls.
| Route | What you get | Fits you if |
|---|---|---|
| SV2A Pokemon 151 booster box | 20 packs, 140 cards, randomized | You want to open packs from the set that holds SAR Mew ex |
| SV2A damaged box | Sealed box with cosmetic outer-box damage, sold as-is | You accept dents or scuffs and no returns |
| PSA 10 single | One graded card in a PSA case | You want a specific card in graded condition |
| 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX | Two FUR Pikachu ex promos and play supplies | You want the YOSHIROTTEN supply set; it contains no Mew |
Our recommendation: if the SAR Mew ex is the goal, do not buy the Futuristic Box expecting a Mew, because its contents list two Pikachu ex promos. Pick the SV2A box only if opening 20 packs is part of the appeal.
What should you know about our damaged box listings?
A damaged box listing is a sealed product discounted for cosmetic damage to the outer box, and it is sold as-is. The cards inside are unaffected, according to the listing text, and the photos are samples that may differ from the box you receive.
The listings also state that we do not respond to inquiries about these items, and returns and refunds are not accepted. Read that before you add one to your cart. The damaged boxes were separated from regular stock when our Tokyo warehouse staff inspected every item against defined condition standards.

Is there a Mewtwo box worth a look if Mew is not your target?
If you collect Mewtwo, the SV10 Glory of Team Rocket box is the one to check, because its page lists SAR Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex among the chase cards. It is a Japanese Original Edition Expansion Pack released April 18, 2025, with 30 packs of 5 cards (150 cards per box) and 98 card types.
The page also lists SR Jessie & James, AR Meowth and UR ACE SPEC Dark Patch Gold as key cards. See the regular SV10 booster box for details. As with SV2A, the box is randomized and individual pulls are not promised.

How does shipping work for Japanese Mew cards?
We ship from Tokyo by FedEx with a tracking number. Shipping cost is calculated automatically at checkout from your delivery address, and there is no minimum order amount or quantity.
| Shipping option | Carrier service | Estimated transit after dispatch |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | FedEx International Connect Plus (tracked) | Usually 3-7 business days |
| Expedited | FedEx International Priority (tracked) | Usually 2-5 business days |
These transit times are estimates only. Most orders are processed and shipped within 5 business days after PayPal or Wise payment has cleared, and that handling window is an estimate as well. Business days exclude weekends and Japanese national holidays.
After handoff to FedEx, delivery timing is controlled by the carrier and destination-country authorities. Customs inspections, import procedures, remote-area handling, peak season congestion and weather can delay delivery, and such transit delays do not by themselves create a right to cancel or refund after dispatch. FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes, so give a physical address at checkout.
If dispatch is delayed before handoff, for example because of supplier allocation changes or a unit failing quality inspection, we contact you by email with a revised estimate. For significant delays we may offer the option to wait or to cancel with a full refund. Once the shipment is ready, the order status updates in your customer account, and after dispatch you can see the tracking number there or in your shipping confirmation email.
Can you change the shipping address after ordering?
Yes, while the order is paid and the shipment is not yet scheduled, you can update the shipping address yourself from My Account > Orders. The destination country cannot be changed, and the carrier, shipping method and FedEx service level stay as selected at checkout.
If shipping to the new address costs more, you pay the difference before dispatch and the order is held until it is settled. If it costs less, the shipping charge is not recalculated and no refund is made. After the shipment is scheduled, the self-service change closes, and only a minor correction that leaves all shipping conditions unchanged may be considered. Check the address carefully before you pay. Full wording is on our shipping policy page.
How does payment work, and which method has no fee?
Wise bank transfer is the only method with no payment processing fee; PayPal, cards through PayPal and PayPal Pay Later carry a 5% fee. All payments are made in Japanese yen (JPY), and any difference on your statement from exchange rates or conversion fees is set by your payment provider.
| Payment method | Processing fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wise (bank transfer) | None | Use the reference SST-{order number} exactly as issued |
| PayPal | 5% | Completed immediately at checkout |
| Credit and debit cards (through PayPal) | 5% | Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB; PayPal decides which are offered |
| PayPal Pay Later | 5% | Offered and operated by PayPal; availability is not promised |
Wise has deadlines. Without a screenshot, the order is cancelled automatically if payment has not arrived within 12 hours (3 hours if it contains a pre-order item). With a screenshot, you upload it within 5 days and the order price is held for a total of 10 days; the screenshot option requires an account and is not available at guest checkout. SWIFT payments incur a JPY 611 receiving fee, so add that to your order total, and choose the OUR charge option so correspondent bank fees are covered on your side.
Pay Later products depend on your country. These are the interest-free options our checkout shows, and the terms PayPal displays in its own window are the ones that apply:
| Country | PayPal option | Schedule |
|---|---|---|
| United States | PayPal Pay in 4 | 4 payments, one every 2 weeks |
| United Kingdom | PayPal Pay in 3 | 3 monthly payments |
| France | PayPal Paiement en 4X | 4 monthly payments |
| Italy | PayPal Paga in 3 rate | 3 monthly payments |
| Spain | PayPal Paga en 3 plazos | 3 monthly payments |
| Australia | PayPal Pay in 4 | 4 fortnightly payments |
| Canada | PayPal Pay in 4 | 4 payments, one every 2 weeks |
The first payment is taken at checkout in each case. Full details are on our payment methods page.
