Japan’s Double Blaze (SM10) released March 1, 2019, and its secret block gave Reshiram & Charizard GX the special-art (SA) treatment at 097/095, illustrated by Ryota Murayama. It’s a one-off scene illustration, distinct from the standard full-art SR one slot earlier in the checklist, and it’s the print collectors mean when they say “the Reshiram Charizard SA.”

There are exactly two official gold Reshiram & Charizard GX cards, and neither of them is the one most often mislabeled as gold.

Unbroken Bonds 217/214 is a Rainbow Rare, not a gold card — but it turns up in listings titled “gold” often enough that the mislabel has become its own small industry. If a listing calls 217/214 gold, that’s a naming error, not a different card.
The Modern Chase: Reshiram ex BWR (White Flare)
Reshiram’s grail moved to a new card entirely when Japan’s White Flare (SV11W) released June 6, 2025 alongside its paired set, Black Bolt. White Flare introduced BWR (Black White Rare), a brand-new rarity tier that exists in exactly two forms across the whole SV11 pair — Reshiram ex at 174/086 in White Flare, and Zekrom ex in Black Bolt — each finished in a monochrome, metallic treatment unique to that single card per set. Community pull-rate estimates put it at approximately 1 in 22 boxes, though Pokemon has not published an official rate.
