What Is the Romance Dawn Booster Box?
The Romance Dawn Booster Box is a full box of the first ONE PIECE CARD GAME booster set, OP-01, in its Japanese original edition. The facts below come from our product page and the official ONE PIECE CARD GAME sites.
| Key fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| English name | Booster Pack -ROMANCE DAWN- [OP01] (official English page) |
| Japanese name | ブースターパック ROMANCE DAWN【OP-01】 (official Japanese page) |
| Set code | OP-01 (also written OP01) |
| Edition | Japanese edition (Japanese Original Edition on our listing) |
| Japanese release date | July 22, 2022 (official Japanese page) |
| Per box | 24 booster packs, 6 cards per pack, 144 cards (our listing (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order)) |
| Card types in the set | 121 (official Asia English page) |
| Official price per pack | JPY 198 including tax, manufacturer suggested price |
“Romance Dawn” is the name of the set, not the name of a card. The official card list for the set contains no card called Romance Dawn; the words “ROMANCE DAWN [OP01]” are the set label printed on each card (official card list). When people search for a Romance Dawn booster box, they mean a box of OP-01 packs.
The set covers the earliest arcs of the One Piece story, from East Blue to the Grand Line, according to our product page. It is the first booster set of the game. The official Asia English page adds that the starter deck released on July 8 can be mixed with this set.

What Is Inside a Romance Dawn Booster Box?
A Romance Dawn Booster Box contains 24 booster packs, each with 6 cards, so 144 cards in total. The official pages confirm 6 cards per pack; the 24-pack count comes from our product page, because the official pages do not print packs per box.
The set itself has 121 card types. The official rarity breakdown is below, and the numbers add up to 121.
| Rarity | Card types |
|---|---|
| Leader Card | 8 |
| Common | 45 |
| Uncommon | 30 |
| Rare | 26 |
| Super Rare | 10 |
| Secret Rare | 2 |
| Total | 121 |
Source for the breakdown: the official Japanese product page. The same page says 27 types of parallel (alternate illustration) cards exist for this product, and that multi-color Leader cards allow two-color decks.
Two points matter before you buy a sealed box. First, the contents are random. Our product page states that the cards in each box are randomly packed at the factory, so which cards you open is a matter of chance. Second, the official page says a full set is difficult to assemble,
It helps to separate two numbers that look similar. The 121 is the number of different cards in the set. The 144 is the number of cards in one box (24 packs times 6 cards).
Which Leaders and Secret Rares Are in the Romance Dawn Booster Box?
The Romance Dawn set has 8 Leader cards, 10 Super Rares and 2 Secret Rares, all named in the official card list. Here are the Leaders.
| Card number | Leader |
|---|---|
| OP01-001 | Roronoa Zoro |
| OP01-002 | Trafalgar Law |
| OP01-003 | Monkey.D.Luffy |
| OP01-031 | Kouzuki Oden |
| OP01-060 | Donquixote Doflamingo |
| OP01-061 | Kaido |
| OP01-062 | Crocodile |
| OP01-091 | King |
Source: official OP01 card list. The official Japanese page says multi-color Leader cards are part of the set and allow two-color decks.

The two Secret Rares are OP01-120 Shanks and OP01-121 Yamato, both listed as Characters. Our product page describes them as the 2 Secret Rare chase cards with alt-art illustrations.

The 10 Super Rares in the official list are these:
| Card number | Super Rare |
|---|---|
| OP01-024 | Monkey.D.Luffy |
| OP01-025 | Roronoa Zoro |
| OP01-040 | Kin’emon |
| OP01-047 | Trafalgar Law |
| OP01-051 | Eustass”Captain”Kid |
| OP01-067 | Crocodile |
| OP01-070 | Dracule Mihawk |
| OP01-078 | Boa Hancock |
| OP01-094 | Kaido |
| OP01-096 | King |
This section is not a full card list. For all 121 cards and the parallels, use our separate pages: the OP-01 Romance Dawn card list and the parallel and Secret Rare cards page.
Which Rare Cards Are in the Romance Dawn Set?
The official card list names 26 Rare cards in OP-01, one of them an Event card. They sit between the Uncommons and the Super Rares in the rarity breakdown.
| Card number | Rare |
|---|---|
| OP01-004 | Usopp |
| OP01-005 | Uta |
| OP01-013 | Sanji |
| OP01-016 | Nami |
| OP01-017 | Nico Robin |
| OP01-026 | Gum-Gum Fire-Fist Pistol Red Hawk |
| OP01-035 | Okiku |
| OP01-041 | Kouzuki Momonosuke |
| OP01-046 | Denjiro |
| OP01-049 | Bepo |
| OP01-054 | X.Drake |
| OP01-058 | Punk Gibson |
| OP01-068 | Gecko Moria |
| OP01-069 | Caesar Clown |
| OP01-071 | Jinbe |
| OP01-073 | Donquixote Doflamingo |
| OP01-074 | Bartholomew Kuma |
| OP01-079 | Ms. All Sunday |
| OP01-086 | Overheat |
| OP01-093 | Ulti |
| OP01-097 | Queen |
| OP01-102 | Jack |
| OP01-111 | Black Maria |
| OP01-112 | Page One |
| OP01-114 | X.Drake |
| OP01-119 | Thunder Bagua (Event) |
Source: the official OP01 card list. X.Drake appears twice as a Rare, at OP01-054 and OP01-114, and Donquixote Doflamingo appears as a Leader (OP01-060) and as a Rare (OP01-073). Same name does not mean same card: each number is a separate card.
How Do You Read OP-01 Card Numbers?
OP-01 card numbers run from OP01-001 to OP01-121, one number per card type, and the prefix OP01 is the set code. The 121 numbers match the 121 card types on the official pages.
In the official list, the numbers fall into four runs, and each run opens with Leader cards. OP01-001 to OP01-003 are Leaders (Roronoa Zoro, Trafalgar Law, Monkey.D.Luffy); OP01-031 Kouzuki Oden opens the next run; OP01-060 to OP01-062 (Donquixote Doflamingo, Kaido, Crocodile) open the third; and OP01-091 King opens the fourth. The final two numbers, OP01-120 Shanks and OP01-121 Yamato, are the Secret Rares.
Some card codes on the official page carry a trailing “P”, such as OP01-024P and OP01-003P. The official pages say the set contains 27 types of parallel (alternate illustration) cards in total. The base number is what identifies the card in the official list, so use it when you compare card photos and listings.
What Is the Box Topper in a Romance Dawn Booster Box?
The box topper is a parallel card included with the box, and it is one of 6 types enclosed at random. The English and Asia English official pages call it a box topper; the Japanese page calls it a box bonus and uses the same wording: one card at random from 6 types.
The official pages give two separate numbers: 27 types of parallel cards exist for this product, and the box topper is one of 6 types. The pages do not say how those 6 types relate to the 27, and they do not give card names for the 6 topper types. They also carry a note that illustrations may differ from the final product.
What this means in practice: the box comes with a parallel box topper, and which of the 6 types you receive is random. Do not buy a box on the assumption that you will receive a specific topper.
How Is the Japanese Romance Dawn Booster Box Different From the English Edition?
The Japanese edition came out on July 22, 2022, while the English edition page lists December 2, 2022, and the packs carry different official prices. Choose the Japanese box if you want the original Japanese printing; this guide and our listing are for that edition.
| Item | Japanese page | English page |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | ROMANCE DAWN [OP-01] | BOOSTER PACK -ROMANCE DAWN- [OP01] |
| Release date | July 22, 2022 | December 2, 2022 |
| Price per pack | JPY 198 including tax | USD $4.19 |
| Cards per pack | 6 | Not stated on the page |
| Card types | 121 | 121 |
Sources: the Japanese page and the English page. The Asia English page, which gives the release date as July 22, 2022 and also confirms 6 cards per pack, is at asia-en.onepiece-cardgame.com.
The rarity breakdown is the same on all three pages: 8 Leaders, 45 Commons, 30 Uncommons, 26 Rares, 10 Super Rares and 2 Secret Rares. The official pages say cards are tournament legal from the pre-release date in your region.
What Does the Damaged Box Version of the Romance Dawn Booster Box Mean?
The Damaged Box version is the same Romance Dawn Booster Box with cosmetic damage to the outer box, such as dents or scratches, sold at a lower price. According to the listing, the cards inside are unaffected. It is on a separate page: OP-01 Romance Dawn Japanese One Piece Booster Box – Damaged Box.
| Point | Regular box | Damaged Box |
|---|---|---|
| Outer box | Brand new and sealed | Dents, creases, scuffs or other cosmetic damage; type and extent vary |
| Cards inside | 24 packs, 6 cards per pack | Listing states the cards are unaffected; same pack structure |
| Photos | Product photo | Sample photos; the box you receive may differ |
| Sold as-is; no returns or refunds; the listing says inquiries about the item are not answered | ||
| Price | Each listing shows its own price on its product page | |
The listing explains why these boxes exist. Our warehouse in Tokyo buys large volumes of Japanese trading cards every day, and some incoming boxes have dents or scratches. Staff inspect every item against defined condition standards. Boxes that cannot be sold as mint-condition products are separated from regular stock and offered at a lower price.

The listing is explicit that the condition photos are samples. Two of them are below. They show damaged boxes from other sets and are there to show the kind of wear to expect, not your exact box.

Which one should you pick? Pick the Damaged Box if you plan to open the packs or care mainly about the cards, and you accept that the outer box will show wear. Pick the regular box if the condition of the outer box matters to you, for example for display, gifting or keeping the box sealed. Because the Damaged Box is final sale, do not choose it if you might want to return the item.
How Does Shipping and Payment Work for a Romance Dawn Booster Box Order?
Romance Dawn Booster Box orders ship from our Tokyo warehouse by FedEx, with most orders dispatched within 5 business days after PayPal or Wise payment has cleared. The product page says each shipment includes tracking and insurance.
| Service | FedEx transit after dispatch | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Standard: FedEx International Connect Plus (tracked) | Usually 3-7 business days | Calculated at checkout from your address |
| Expedited: FedEx International Priority (tracked) | Usually 2-5 business days | Calculated at checkout from your address |
These transit times are estimates only. They do not include handling time, weekends, Japanese national holidays, customs processing, carrier congestion or weather. After the parcel is handed to FedEx, timing is controlled by the carrier and the destination country’s authorities. There is no minimum order amount or quantity, and FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes, so give a physical address. All details are on our shipping policy.
Payment options are listed on our payment methods page. All payments are made in Japanese yen.
| Method | What to know |
|---|---|
| Wise (bank transfer) | No payment processing fee. Without a screenshot, the order is cancelled automatically if payment is not received within 12 hours (3 hours if the order has a pre-order item). With a screenshot, upload it within 5 days and the price is held for 10 days. The screenshot option needs an account. |
| PayPal | Paid immediately at checkout. A 5% payment processing fee applies. |
| Credit and debit cards through PayPal | Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB, as offered by PayPal for your country and card. The 5% fee applies. |
| PayPal Pay Later | Offered by PayPal where available, with terms shown in PayPal’s own window; availability is not assured. |
If you pay by Wise bank transfer, enter the payment reference SST-{order number} exactly as issued. Payments by SWIFT incur a receiving fee of JPY 611, so add that amount to your order total. The 5% processing fee does not apply to Wise, so for a box order Wise is the route without that fee.
Should You Buy the Romance Dawn Booster Box or the PRB-01 Box?
Buy the Romance Dawn Booster Box if you want the original OP-01 packs; buy PRB-01 if you want reprints of popular cards from OP-01 through OP-06. They are different products.
Our product page for PRB-01 One Piece Card The Best (update: currently sold out — restock requests via Quick Order) describes a premium best-of collection: 10 packs per box, 10 cards per pack (100 cards per box), 111 card types, reprinted with new artwork and premium treatments, released in Japan on November 8, 2024. A Damaged Box version exists on its own page.

| Point | OP-01 Romance Dawn box | PRB-01 The Best box |
|---|---|---|
| Type | First booster set | Premium best-of collection, OP-01 to OP-06 |
| Packs per box | 24 | 10 |
| Cards per pack | 6 | 10 |
| Cards per box | 144 | 100 |
| Card types | 121 | 111 |
| Japanese release date | July 22, 2022 | November 8, 2024 |
The structure differs: the Romance Dawn box has 24 packs of 6 cards and the PRB-01 box has 10 packs of 10 cards. If your goal is the first-print Romance Dawn set with its 121 card types, the OP-01 box is the one that matches.
What Should You Know Before Opening a Romance Dawn Booster Box?
Know three things: the contents are random, one card (OP01-010) has an illustrator-name error with no corrected version, and a full set is hard to complete from boxes alone.
- Random contents. Packs are randomly packed at the factory. Our product page says individual card pulls are not promised.
- The OP01-010 error. On July 22, 2022, the official Japanese page announced that the card OP01-010 had an incorrect illustrator name. No corrected cards are available. OP01-010 is Komachiyo, a Common.
- Premium Bandai lottery. The official page notes that the Premium Bandai lottery sale has ended, so the set is not sold that way any more.
- Mixing with the starter deck. The starter deck released on July 8 can be mixed with this set, per the Asia English page.
- Illustrations. Official pages note that illustrations may differ from the final product.
On card quality and pulls, our article on OP-01 chase cards goes into the cards collectors look for. This guide stays on the box itself.
