How Collectors Actually Got One: Store Campaign + Golden Box Bundle

S8a-P was never sold as its own product. The main documented channel was a retail campaign tied to the mainline set: participating stores gave customers one S8a-P pack for every four packs of the S8a “25th Anniversary Collection” booster they purchased. The pack was also bundled inside the 25th ANNIVERSARY GOLDEN BOX, a Pokemon Center Online-exclusive accessory box originally scheduled for release on October 22, 2021, at a retail price of ¥17,600 (tax included). Each Golden Box included exactly five S8a-P packs, with one card sealed randomly inside each pack — meaning a single box holder pulled five of the 25 possible cards, never a guaranteed specific card beyond the box’s own separate S8a-G deck subset.

Both channels help explain why this pack is scarce: it was either a limited-time purchase incentive at participating stores or riding along inside a lottery-sold, limited-run accessory product, and it was never restocked as a standalone item through either route. Of the 25 possible S8a-P cards, we currently carry five as graded PSA 10 singles, spanning the set’s full price range:

The Charizard: PROMO [S8a-P 001/025] is the set’s clear headline — the number-one printed slot in the checklist, and by a wide margin our highest-priced S8a-P graded single.

Each of our five S8a-P singles is a single certified copy — when it sells, it’s gone until we source another from a separately opened Golden Box.

S8a-P vs the Mainline S8a Set

It’s easy to conflate S8a-P with S8a itself, since both share the 25th-anniversary branding and released in the same window. They’re separate products with separate card pools:

• S8a “25th Anniversary Collection” is the standard mainline booster expansion, sold at retail through normal pack distribution, built around Pikachu-family cards and other 25th-anniversary favorites.
• S8a-P “Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition” is the 25-card promo checklist covered in this guide, bundled exclusively inside the Golden Box and never sold as its own retail product.
